It is cold where I dwell this time of year.Made me feel like offering this theme up. So the Krells Children Challenge. Not really his troops but that is where the idea was spawned while looking at his model.

Miniatures to be turned: Chaos Warriors or Chaos Marauders

Undead to be created. Single undead infantry based model.

Special Rules, Mount on a 20mm base

Base model should include parts from the above two kits converted or kit bashed into a undead.

Challenge Rules
making the world undead, each month we selected a new model to turn into one of our wonderful undead, the world must become undead, as for example a zombie ogre. At the end of each month there is a vote on who's model turned out best. The winner can selected the next model to turn the the dark side. This means we can turn things to undead for a tomb king style army if one wishes too.

Rules:
You must use the selected miniature, Though you can convert and decorate the base, for more dramatic effect. In the end however it must be game legal. This means on the correct base. Any miniature company welcome.
Only one entry per person .
No Voting for your self.
Please have your finished Miniatures posted by the 31st of January. Voting will begin the 1st of Febuary.

Yes you can start right away if you wish.

Had to put another coat of paint on mine, couldn't resist doing some themed paintjobs.

From left to right, they are: Slaanesh, pink and purple (the most FABULOUSLY frightening!); Nurgle, green and yellow and particularly rusty and corroded; "undivided," with the least alteration, just some rust and brighter silver armor; Khorne, all bronze and red and looking particularly happy about it; and finally Tzeentch, with his particularly bright blue and yellow highlights. I had a lot fun doing these, not least because it let me get out of the "undead drought" of bone and black I find myself doing so much of.

More pics on my blog! Can't wait to see the competition. You guys are so creative.

Yeah, re-reading the rules, it certainly seems like you're only allowed one model. If that's the case, I'll take a few pics of my favorite for the competition. Right now, that's probably the Nurgle guy, second from left.

Either way, I'm glad the competition motivated me to get a whole rank done!

Guess its about time to get my guy up.

Mine is a Chaos warrior with a fair bit of converting and kit bashing.
Chaos Knight Arms, Empire General head (Hollowed out with a skull added), Empire General Cloak.
Just gives him that much more movement having the knight arms but it meant replacing his entire back so was a bit of a pain, I did him a while back now so I added gashes to his armour at the time to indicate battle damage.

Let me know what you think, I call him Hlodvir. ;)

That is AWESOME, Duke! I love the empire helmet, all that work hollowing it out paid off! I thought about doing something similar once or twice but the time investment seemed like too much, looks like you pulled it off really nicely though.

I also like the dings and scratches in the metal. Definitely makes the whole thing look more unified and weathered by the ages.

::Edited for page flip::

Devour the Cabbage: Gaaaah!!! Well, that is certainly terrifying. I love the shoulder pads, looks like he'd fit right in with a game of blood bowl.

Raven Torrid: Awesome use of color. I love the shield with the faces in it. Definitely retains some of the chaos feel to it. And I love the way the tiny skeleton head makes the armor seem so huge and imposing. The matching helmet definitely helps to unify the model.

My fellow was inspired by The Terror by Dan Simmons. I wanted the polar bear cloak to look positively rotten with Nurgle-stimulated arctic summer mold. I liked the idea that after becoming undead he's washed the pages of "The Book of Leviathan" clean with blood...

Edit: The big flayed arm is from a Flesh Reaper by Titan-Forge, and the right arm is from a GW Skaven Plague Monk. I filed the grated mouth area off of the helmet, adjusted the eye holes to be more skeletal, and added the little skull nostril thing.
