Niklaus brings close the man whos throat he has destroyed, drinking deeply of the life giving liquid. Ignoring Peter for the moment, he continues to drink, his body needing the rejuvenating capabilities of the blood before he can become rational again.
Dropping the husk after several moments and breathing deeply, glowing red eyes look to Peter with suspicion, and he rips the sleeve of his habit to wipe his face free of blood. Looking to his shoulder as the muscle protests the motion, he grunts at the presence of the bolt. Even now, his animal rage is subsiding, having satisfied the need that it hungered for, and the visible sign is simple. His eyes begin to lose their unearthly luster, and he replies, his voice rough and curt.
"Damned Hunters found me. Guess they're more attached to their children than I thought." Hissing, he pulls the bolt out of his shoulder, his eyes flaring with the memory of that shot that extended this battle for so long.
Upon a closer inspection, Niklaus is indeed a feral creature. His hands are clawed, cruel talons coming from his fingertips and drenched in Gore. His face sports an uncommon beard, the growth giving him a truly frightening look even in his tattered robes. Of course, the oddity of his eyes would not be lost on the casual observer as well. Looking at Peters mount, armament, and listening to his question more carefully, he replies in kind.
"I took too much, and they found me out. Masquerading as a priest can only last so long, and I had well overstayed my welcome." Oh, but it was Sweet.
Stepping back, naturally unsure of the Arisens purpose and intent, he asks his own query. "Where are you bound, Nightwalker? I thank you for your assistance, the Hunters nearly took my head as a trophy back to their pitiful excuse of a Lord. I am in your debt."
Sane, for the moment, but that laugh, that reckless abandon in combat....Two sides of the same coin? Or perhaps, the same side with a thin shield?
