Jason glance over to peter abbandoning his thourghts, to see him, he held his blade tightly towards him he could see it was a strong and skilfully made blade. Power radiated from the blade, flowing into peter as he grinned with delight at the thourght of blood shed and combat.

"If we are to strike we must do so with a plan. They outnumber us and will crush us in an open battle. However we have an advantage they do not. If we split our troops amongst ourselves, then no one death will be our own undoing. But on the other hand we only have to kill one, V'arzrin........or Milosh." As Nar-Zuul looked to object the Duke fixed him with a glare,
"I care not for your master's divine plan. He has spoke nought of it to the rest of the Council, and is no doubt a plan to further his own interests."

"So you would just destroy my husband?" Les snapped, finally showing some emotion, "he is as much under their influence as the rest of the Carsteins. He would never willingly betray us!"

"We have no proof of that," the Duke replied curtly, "he is not just under their control, he is also one of them, a Dreadlord of Nagash. Irregardless of that fact, if we have the chance to destroy him and release the rest of the Carsteins we should do so. Do the rest of you not agree?"

******************************************

"That is precisely my point Mircea," Milosh replied coolly, "either they sit and wait, in which case they will wait until our Dark Lord is ready to deal with them at his whim. Or they leave their army behind. Do you think we would leave the exits unwatched? Oh no. The spirits of the land are mine to command. A ring of wraiths will watch and we will know. If they split and run it is all the easier for us to hunt them down and destroy. Whatever the choice of action they will no longer be a thorn in Nagash's side."

"We have a problem," V'azrin suddenly spoke. The Carsteins in their usual arrogance had forgotten about the Necrach watching them, " the wolf-creature has bitten off more than he can chew. It seems he made the unfortunate choice of challenging Graveclaw to combat and came worse off. His retreat has now been cut off by Vekarin."

"What would you have us do? It is the beasts fault for his pride," Milosh replied.

"As is the case with all your line," V'azrin snapped back, "Fetch him, he could still be of some use." Without a word Milosh nodded his head, before bursting into a cloud of stream and streaming our into the night air.

Mircea was about to reply when Milosh left. ''So Muller been in trouble then?, how unfourtunate then, are we just going to sit here then and let the Council dicate the strategic situation?'' he asked.

"You are an impudent youngster Duke." said Nar-Zuul coming closer. Suddenly his wings unfurled stretching out and everyone felt a hint of fear. "Do not presume to lecture me on the Dreadlords and how much free will they have. I was once one of them. I once held the position of Judge and was feared by all save my former master. I left of my own free will though it cost me my physical form. Milosh Cromwell is not acting of his own free will and will not be harmed by any of you. The divine plan will go ahead as scheduled and if you refuse to help then you might as well surrender to Nagash right now and spare us your ignorance and stupidity."

Müller roared and charged forwards at Vekarin. The Vampire brought his blade up to defend himself.
The werewolf impaled itself on the blade. Müller made no attempt to avoid the weapon at all as it sliced into his center.
There was a slight pause, and then the Werewolf lunged out and grabbed Vekarin's arm as it held the blade's hilt, and grasped his other hand.

Werewolves, while lacking any magical ability, are far stronger than the Vampire. His claws closed around Vekarin's arms like steel clamps. Müller lifted the Vampire up and began to pull him apart.
Müller's jaws opened and he lunged forwards at Vekarin's head.

"You was one of them?" the Duke demanded, "it seems Simon keeps strange servants. Do not think you can order me wraith. However you once was, your are now nothing than a mewling spirit. You speak of this Divine Plan as if it will be the saviour of us all. if it so some important then tell us what it is."

"Because my master is the only one who is permitted to tell and he has to the other von Carstein leaders and mistress Lesa." Nar-Zuul replied "The plan could be our only hope in the long run it will bring the one thing we need to effectively fight Nagash."

Helena felt conflicted over the situation in front of them. Whichever course of action they would take - and action did indeed need to be taken - would be fraught with peril. But first things first: if she were to maintain a presence here for much longer she would need to anchor herself inside something else. Fortunately, she knew just the place.

As the various council members kept up the discussion, Helena bade Ashlotte to follow her off to the side. She briefly explained her current predicament to her loyal underling who agreed without hesitation to become a temporary vessel for her mistress' essence.

The joining process was quick but yielded some interesting results as two minds were encased inside a single body, the minds separate yet fundamentally the same. They both retained their full independence of thought but operated together when it came to physical movement and speech. The two returned to the council, their gait somewhat erratic, and continued to hear what conclusions their allies would arrive at.

Jason spoke out "I see little point destroying Milosh, Currently he is simply a pawn to the will of V’azrin and as such can be recreated if he so wish's of that i have no doubt, and we are not sure if he is truly against us to begin with. As i see it our plan of action must be to take out V’azrin, does anyone disagree, because time is of course a luxary we can not afford to waste?"

"I say we each take on one of the Carstein leaders. That will give Mistress Lesa here the oppurtunity to strike a V'azrin whilest he is unsupported," said Peter. Although he was a Blood Dragon, unlike many of his bloodline, he did not rush in without a plan.

"I only ask that you allow me to challenge Mircea. I know him from the old days. Perhaps that connection may be enogh to overcome Nagash's bond."

Zaak stood mute for a moment. Sneering offhandedly, he stepped forward. "What right have we to speak of 'divine', o Wingéd one? If you will not, or even can not, speak of this divine plan, then maybe our lady Lesa here could enlighten us?" Turning to face her, he looked with mock sincerity. Breaking eye contact and spinning around again, he began to pace. "Or else, if perhaps her lips are sealed also, we should come up with something stable and more communicable, if you will."

Turning and walking back towards the group, he spoke again. "Have we already forgotten who we are? We are lords and ladies of undeath. Whether our swords or our fangs have drunk the blood of a thousand mortals, or whether their fragile forms have withered under our very gazes, we walk upon this land like gods amongst men! Soft as shadow and quick as thought, we are the things that go bump in the night. Our minds have cured like a fine delicacy with the collective millennia of our existence. We are the best and worst things the face of this planet will ever see!

"And more than that, we are swift and silent. We have the best armaments at our fingertips, the greatest plans in the tips of our tongues, and yet we stand here 'discussing'. Hunkered down like this, our only chance is attack, correct? And our best means of attack is not all-out warfare, as we have already seen." Looking towards Peter, he said, "Nor can we divide our might amongst them - they have greater numbers, and we would be overcome. What we need is a swift, silent, cohesive strike at the heart of their forces, be that Milosh or V'azrin. Whichever foe we choose to slay, we must be united, and I know that Lesa will never rescind her position. So I say V'azrin, for her sake and that of whatever shreds of loyalty you still have. You knew the man god damn you. We should not kill our own, as much as we would not sever our own limbs."

He paused, and made eye contact with each one there. With the fire burning in his gaze, he said, "We will arm ourselves, build distractions and traps and such, and prepare to strike. Our only advantage here is speed, stealth and condensed power. We have to strike quickly. Do we agree that a slightly more subversive, guerrilla attack would be for the best?"

Muller lunged forward, his jaws clamping on the Mask of Skulls that adorned Vekarin's head. The werewolf may have been strong, but the mask was not made of any normal material. The jaws dented the metal of the mask but it held and Muller's teeth did not reach Vekarin's flesh. As the putrid stench of the werewolf's breath reached his senses, Vekarin threw himself to the ground, using his weight to bring down his opponent with him. As the two landed, Vekarin used his opponent's moment of instability to bring his free arm down onto his enemy, slamming his mirrored shield into his enemy's side repeatedly, weakening Muller's grip on him.

Victarias looked sternly at the wraith before her. Unlike many of council, she had seen such apparitions before. Morr had more terrifying pets in his prison, and Victarias was not the least bit intimidated by Nar-Zhuul.
"You should show more respect for your betters, spirit," she cautioned, "as a former dreadlord, I do not trust you in the least, and if you continue to speak in such a way I will not hesitate to end you. Now, tell us, what is this brilliant plan of your former master's?"

The werewolf released Vekarins arm and scrambled away lightning quick. Despite his size, the wolf creature could move like quicksilver when needed. Müller's mouth bled from biting the helmet, and he wiped away the blood from his mussel. As if an afterthought, he reached down and pulled the sword out from his insides. The wound bleed freely for a few moments, but then began to stitch itself up before the Vampire's very eyes.
Müller grasped the blade with both of his massive claws and brought the weapon up over his head. He took two steps forward and leaped into the air, bringing the sword sweeping down from right to left with all the tremendous force he could muster.

"RRRRRRRRAAAAAGH!" Graveclaws massive form flew through the air smashing into the werewolf's back carrying them both over Vekarin's prone form. "Finisssssh what you ssssstarted, with Graveclaw!" he roared.

Müller was shocked as he slammed into the ground, several hundred pounds of angry undead slamming into him.
Graveclaw clawed into the Werewolf's flesh, slashing into his back. Müller let go of the sword and placed both hands on the ground trying to lift himself up. Graveclaw slammed him back into the ground.
Again Müller tried to force himself up, and again Graveclaw slammed him back into the ground.
Müller collapsed panting from exhaustion. Graveclaw pulled back with one taloned hand, and roared as he drove it into the Werewolf's back, reaching deep into the meat of his body.

Müller's eyes dilated as his mind was overwhelmed by the outstanding pain.
Any other living creature would have lost consciousness from shock had they not been killed instantly.
Instead something awoke inside Müller. It was a drive of his species. The will to survive. His mind flashed....
Memories far more painful than the wound inflected on him washed into his mind...

Müller was eight years old and running for his life in the Arden forest of Bretonia. His father chased after him, drunkenly running at his son.
He knew then that his life, painfully short and consisting of nothing but beatings and abuses, was over.
He wept as he ran. He ran for the river that crossed through the forest. Here was where he would play. Alone. He found comfort in the forest, away from the stares and whispers of 'bastard' that rang in his ears, spoken from the mouths of visiting nobility.

He slipped and fell on the wet stones near the river, his arm scraped and bleeding. He heard the slurred yells of his father chancing behind him. His eyes widened in fear.
But then he heard his father scream.
Standing and looking behind him, he saw the prone form of his father laying on the wet stones near the river, having slipped and fallen just like Müller had.

The eight year old Müller stood over his unconscious father.
One desire overwhelmed his heart.
He wanted to live!
He beat his fathers brains out with a rock and returned to his estate smeared in congealed brain and blood.

Müller was eighteen, and he plunged his sword into the chest of a Chaos Marauder seconds before the north man could bury his ax into his neck.
The chaos marauders had come screaming from the west, raping and slaying his servants. The estate he had taken from his father burned freely. He alone was left alive, and he faced off against the marauding hordes of barbarians alone.
Innumerable wounds bit his body, his muscles ached with each herculean act of butchery.

A sword plunged into his upper leg and Müller fell to the ground, losing his grip on his sword.
The ugly face of the bearded Norsemen loomed over him.
One of them raised his axe for the killing blow, the execution of his enemy.
A single thought surged into Müller's mind, forced its way into his weary body.
I want to live!
He caught the axe as it swung down at its hilt, and threw the Norseman down into the mud with him.
He killed them all with his bare hands and teeth that night.

Müller was twenty five, and he lay dieing on the ground. He had lived the rest of his life as a drifter, without home or company, other than his sword. That weapon, his only friend, lay on the grass stained in the blood of the bandits that had attacked him.
He had slain them all, but not before a well aimed dagger sliced into his lung.

Each breath he took in was more labored than the last. He tasted blood on his tongue. His vision became dark.
Something black loomed over him.
A voice spoke to him in the darkness.
"Do you want to live?"

He knew not if it was his own mind that spoke or if there really was someone watching over his final hours. He didnt care. It was a simple question. Müller had a simple answer.
Berkhard Müller summoned all the strength he had left in his dieing body.
He screamed his answer to the wind, to the gods, and most importantly, himself.
"I WANT TO LIVE!"

Müller didnt know how old he now was. He had lost count of the years.
He could smell the stink of the Strigoi monster that pinned him to the earth.
He could hear the wind creaking through the trees.
He could see the two moons hanging in the air above the mountains.

The werewolf placed his hands on the ground for the third time.
For the third time he tried to raise himself up, his arms shook as they worked upwards.
For the third time Graveclaw tried to smash him back into the dirt.
Müller did not fall.

The Stirgoi's face grimaced, and pushed down with all his might.
The werewolf paused only for a moment. Müller clenched his jaws, fangs grinding.
He forced himself up.

Müller tore the Strigoi from his back, ripping the vampires claws from his skin. He held the massive struggling form in a vice grip, never relenting for a moment.

With a grunt he lifted the undead monster up over his head, his broken leg shaking at the monumental effort. He held him there, eyes glaring at Vekarin, his mouth panting with the effort.
He roared with all the breath he could muster,
"I WILL LIVE!"

In one motion, Müller threw Graveclaw through the air as hard as he could straight at Vekarin Banespike.

"By threatening my existence you have proven yourself to be untrustworthy and on the night of Geheimnisnacht you may be brought to account for that as may many of you who attempt to stand in its way." replied Nar-Zuul "As for ending me do not insult me! You are incapable of defeating me. Do you want to go back to Morr!? I can arrange it and this time you will not be rescued. I stood along side Arkhan and W'soran whilst we fought Alcadizar. I was fighting wars before you were even born you are just an upstart and a female one at that. In my day women were not permitted to speak, Nor were they allowed to bear arms."

Helena decided to step in and put a stop to the rapidly escalating arguing that was going on. With Ashlotte's arms extended to the sides as if to push two combatants apart she placed herself in the middle of the group,

-"That is enough. The enemy is on our doorstep - you could hear noises of conflict just a few moments ago - and we need to decide on how we'll proceed from here. Leave your arguing for later. Now, I for one agree with master Zaak's proposal of a planned spearhead assault to strike the enemy's heart. That will hopefully break the puppeteered vampires free."

Graveclaw rolled to his feet, his lips curled back in a savage snarl "Isssss that all you got?" he growled. Muller howled in fury and hurled himself forwards and lashed out with a left hook, Graveclaw grunted as he caught Muller's fist in hand with a roar of fury Graveclaw smashed his forehead into Mullers snout.

Müller grunted at the pain in his snout. He opened his jaws and latched onto Graveclaw's shoulder. He clasped Graveclaw's left hand in his claw.

The two combatants struggled against each other, locked in place. The earth shifted as they dug their feet onto the ground to shift the other.
Müller shifted his weight to the right, leaning backwards. The Strigoi, sensing weakness, pushed forwards. The werewolf opened its jaws and sidestepped to the left, which broke the combatants apart.

The two monstrous opponents stared each other down.
Müller panted like a dog, his voice growled.
"Your...strong..."
Something very akin to admiration flashed in the Werewolf's eye.
"I...respect that."

Peter applauded.

"Finally some action. Let us ride as soon as possible," stated the Blood Dragon.

"Unless anybody has any objections, here is the plan I see it. We ride into the heart of the enemies forces and hopefully destroy the Necrach. As the one of the few military commanders here, I volunteer myself to lead the attack. We will try to buy enough time for Mistress Lesa to destroy V'zarin."

What am I putting myself forward for thought Peter to himself. A suicide mission against my former allies and friends. I should have stayed at home.

Vekarin watched the two massive beasts wrestle intently. It was like some epic combat between two mighty titans, warriors of the gods locked in battle before the world was even born. It was apparent that this was Graveclaw's fight, and interfering could only make things worse, either for Muller or himself.

"I will not have my honor impugned in such a matter." Victarias said slowly, her teeth gritted, ignoring the comments of those about her. Her voice was low and level but her eyes were fixed coldly on Nar-Zuul.
"You should remember your place, spirit. You may have been a powerful warrior when you were young, but you are not so now. You are but a shade, a conjuration that can be dispelled with but a stiff breeze. Do not seek to insult your betters, lest they take your insolence as dishonor or treason."

As the two titans clash again a sudden surge of mist tore them apart, coalescing in the form of Milosh.

"You was instructed to scout and return," the Dreadlord's voice said in deathly tones to Muller, "just because you were not explicitly ordered not to attack, one would have though you would have had the sense to not to anyway." Looking upwards he caught site of Vekarin, and a cold smile crept across his face,
"It has been a long time since we have spoken Vekarin. Yet I have not forgotten your strength or honour. Come now, you know how weak, how childish this Council truly is. To someone I once counted as an ally, I give the chance to join, to fight for the Dark Lord and prosper from his triumphs."

*****************************************

At Mircea's question V'azrin merely shrugged his shoulders.
"You are warmongerers, the generals. The King's Childe has made his position clear, as you have. It seems even without the rest of the Council your line still cannot agree in a course of action." Looking across at Simon and Karl, he asked,
"What of you? The Count of Sylvania? Do you not have a command for those that follow you? You have been surprisingly quiet in these proceedings.........."

****************************************

"Have none of you have an ounce of sense?" the Duke snarled, "lead a guerilla strike, kill V'azrin? Do you honestly think it will be that simple? His army outmatches us. He has all the Carsteins as his commanders, and unless I am very much mistaken, he has somehow enhanced them judging with the speed and power they used to overpower us in the cavern. Apart from the Mistress he is more magically powerful than any spellcaster we have, and finally on top of that he his second in command is Milosh, not only someone who has the power to control wraiths and spirits that no one else can match, but who has also been transformed into an immensely power Dreadlord." He paused a moment allowing this to sink into the minds of the Council,

"Now I do not doubt that we should attack. That is the course I think we should take before he works out how to control all of us. However to think we can do so whilst sparing the lives of the Carsteins is madness. If their deaths can be avoided, then good. However if they prove to be an obstacle, if they try to kill us, then I will not hold my hand, and neither should the rest of you. That includes Milosh."

"If you harm my husband that will be the last action you ever do." Lesa's cold thread struck the Duke like a cold wave, and as he looked into her eyes he saw nothing but certainty, "that goes for anyone here. Milosh did not choose this course, and I will save him. He has done more for this Council than any of you realise, he............" she paused as if catching herself before continuing, "he sacrificed not just for me, but for everyone. I will not let that be in vain so heed my warning well. I will destroy this Council before I let it kill my husband."

Jason pondered to himself taking in the complexity of the situation, then he had an interesting thourght "Why not let me drop you in near V'azrin? There would be no doubt that I could fly you in and the Von Carstiens wouldnt be prepaired for such an attack? If the council remains here, I believe that we can catch him off guard, all the council would have to do is keep the Von Carstiens busy and we would have the advantage" he paused to let his idea sink in for just a moment.

"Unless you have a better idea I suggest we leave soon"

Vekarin laughed. It was a hollow, broken, grinding sound like the unstoppable slide of some massive boulder over the rock peak of a mighty mountain. He threw back his head and the booming sound echoed about the clearing. Suddenly, as if caught during a swift fall, Vekarin's head fell back into place. His countenance changed, he brought himself to his full height and looked down on the relatively diminutive form of Milosh. His eyes burned with a new light, as if an almost tangible fire had alighted within them that cast violet shadows about the night.
"You believe that your lord is all powerful?" The voice that spoke from Vekarin's mouth was not his own, it was deeper, more resonating, as if a thousand whispered echoed his every word.
"You think him so strong that he will save you from the ravages if time, immortalize you in the blind eyes of world and keep you safe from the legions of enemies that accumulate about your sorry forms. You hide behind him like some dog cowering from the night between the legs of its master. You yourself worship him but in your heart and in your mind you despise what you have become, you look into a mirror and spit at the image that stares back at you. You conceal your beliefs, all the better to use the dreadlord as a shield from without, carrying out your master's petty chores simply to appease, all the while strangling that which makes you real. You are a facade, a mask hiding something far more corrupt, far more afraid of the darkness in the world. I will tell you one thing, Milosh von Carstien, Dreadlord Innocent of Nagash, Mate of Lesa, you are but a pawn, but more than that, you are a pawn in the army of yet another pawn, for the world is feudal, and your dark king in his black tower is but the illusion of power. Despair, for he protects you not."
