RE: New OOC Thread

Feel I've avoided this too long...

I have a number of characters I could play. One is the vampire detailed in Origin, another is the one sired in my more recent story, A winter of the Heart. The latter is older and more experienced, though it does slightly depend on what year the rp is taking place in... is it current timeline? Alternatively, I may consider another race, such as bretonnia or empire (not necessarily as good guys though). What would be easiest to work in?

RE: New OOC Thread

It's not only this thread, other threads have done the same. For a time I thought it was only me (or my computer), it appears that this isn't the case.......

TVC - OOC Thread (New)

Welcome to the new OOC thread as the old one stopped working properly...again.

So what are peoples thoughts in regards to the infiltration? I've noticed posting its a bit slow. Is it because people are unsure, because it is boring?

If feedback is given I will see what I can do to improve it.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

Honestly, I think it's because there was a big shift to post being reactive. Perhaps we should pre-establish encounters, etc. so that we are moving towards a specific set of goals (as in bench marks). A thought (poorly conceived at that :P)...

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

I expect it should pick up soon, after all these celebrations. But I can find one fault, I like the multiple choices bits, but all to often it seems like DLN (no offense intended) jumps in and makes the decision, so that people are sort of just tagging along, not truly participating in the decision making. I just think people should postpone action, like jumping into the fight and hypnotising a lich, until more people have a chance to post their ideas.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

I've always (for, like, the month that I've had her in my mind any way..) thought of my character as the reserved type, one who doesn't act very quickly or talk very much. Thus she sort of tags along naturally and do her thing when she feels like it is the right time to do said thing. Perhaps I should lighten her up a bit to make for some more involving role playing on my part?

I'll also blame my newbie status and time zones, heheh.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

oK - After looking at the thread - what I originally thought has come back to me - it's a bad idea. Nagash is meant to to be our final battle and sneaking in and poking around beforehand just seems....well cheating.

Plus, it is quite boring like other RP's around, there is little creativity other than my own as I am dictating pretty much.

So what's going to happen is a I will provide a rough layout of your intended route - even though yes it is pre-laid out it should be written like it was your characters choices. So you can post as you like knowing what things are to come and we can get this chapter over with.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

Wasn't our mission to rescue Milosh?

But anyway, do as you deem to be best DoN and I'll gladly follow. :)

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

The infiltration team has really showed up a need for some more forward thought on what is to be acheived. DoN and I have thought of something to make the mission not seem completely pointless but it was intended as one of a great many surprises yet to happen for the Vampire Council.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

So much secrecy....

Regardless, what is the next plot benchmark? I'm assuming Nagash obtaining the Crown and unleashing the Dread Lords upon the lands. Just curious.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

Well the surprise can't be ruined now can it? I think the best way forward is if I take control of the person you have just encountered. He will aid the team for his own reasons and that way we can progress things forward.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

Yes surprises are fun but I still have the nagging suspicion that overall secret plots harm the story more than they help it. If everyone knew what was, is and shall go on, they can write better posts, and have clear set benchmarks to move towards. This way every character which is introduced can be tailored to suit both the needs/wants of the controlong participant as well as the needs/wants of the overall plot.

Back on topic, yes a guide of some sort should be good to further the chapter. If you had reservations to begin with you should have said so and a "better" means of going through the chapter (if going through it at all) could have been devised.

[/rant]

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

If I had gone by my own gut feeling at the start Nihilus, there would have been no infiltration at all. As most people seemed to like the idea, a way was devised that didn't involve the characters rampaging through Nagashizzar, and also tied into relevant plots.

In regards to the secret plots - if people want to have their privacy they are entitled to it. The TVC has worked for 28 chapters in this way, so I see no need to fault it. The reason why the current chapter is not working, is because we broke from the previous ways of setting up a chapter and giving a brief outline how things were going to work. At least we tried and know not to do things in the future.

Oh a warning to all von Carsteins - the Carstein plot is coming up. If your not a Carstein don't ask - if you are a Carstein and don't know the plot PM me.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

I think the group may just be too large for posting on a personal level and normal conversation within the chapter to continue smoothly. Although the idea was dismissed at first I think we should split the group up, giving each group a specific objective to complete, and perhaps creating sub-chapter threads to simplify the posting.

RE: TVC - OOC Thread (New)

That sounds like an idea. The room that we've entered just now could act as the starting point for the split-up groups to move out from, depending on Malachi's initial intent, of course.
