Say i loose a combat. According to page 55 of BRB i can reform using unmodified LD of the unit. Which in our case is horribly low. I heard somebody say that in addition if we're steadfast, the loosing undead unit may reform using the general's LD. Are we ever allowed to reform amid defeat using the genera's LD?

Thanks

As I understand it, if you are steadfast you can combat reform amid defeat on unmodified leadership. Unmodified leadership is the highest leadership of any model in the unit. So Inspiring Presence would not help you. I don't see anything in FAQ 1.6 about this either. Hope this helps.

Q: When taking a Leadership test, sometimes you have to take it on your unmodified Leadership. What is your unmodified Leadership? (p10)

A: Your unmodified Leadership is the highest Leadership characteristic in the unit. So the Leadership from any characters in the unit itself (but not from outside the unit, from Inspiring Presence for example) with a higher Leadership can be used unless specifically stated otherwise.

If that is the case then would a steadfast unit be able to take a break test with a general ld? Since they take break tests on their unmodified ld, are they prevented from using due to that faq?

A break test can use either the unit's leadership or Inspiring Presence, whichever is higher. It is modified by the difference in combat resolution between the two (or more) units engaged in close combat.

If a unit is steadfast it can take the break test using it's own unmodified leadership or the General's unmodified leadership.

Is that explicitly stated in the brb? I just looked n pg 55, it states "blah blah, if your unit s steadfast or unbreakable then the test is taken on their un modified ld" including that faq, we can only use a units (plus characters) ld for a combat reform test

Sucktacular

It explicitly states for Break tests you can use unmodified unit OR unmodified General.

Steadfast units can always take Break tests on their unmodified Leadership (or the General's unmodified Leadership if the testing unit is in range of his Inspiring Presence special rule (pg 54)

Break test - use Inspiring presence = Yes
Combat reform amid defeat - use Inspiring presence = No

As far as I understand, when it comes to break test, units can use inspiring presence modified by the combat resolution score OR they can use their own, unmodified leadership because they are stubborn due to steadfast. Whichever leadership value is higher - modified inspiring presence or unmodified leadership of the unit - is that one that is used for the break test.

If your ghouls without a character in the unit loses combat by 10, you crumble 10, then you can reform, using the units unmodified leadership which would not account for the loss of the combat resolution.

If the general is dead or outside 12" of the unit, they're Ld. 5.

If the general is within 12", they can reform on Ld. 10.

You use the units highest leadership, which IS the generals IP. It makes their leadership 10.

This is the same reason Mind Razor converts strength of a unit based on the generals IP.

Eggspr got it right. "This is the same reason Mind Razor converts strength of a unit based on the generals IP. "

IP states " All friendly units within 12 use his leadership instead of their own" Therefore, that units unmodified leadership becomes the generals leadership. It is also worth mentioning that the general as well as the unit is unbreakable; so for vampires the test is not modified.
