Rerolling to hit on most occasions.
Vlad effectively has four wounds because of the ring.

They work very well.

In all honesty i find most people dont like vlad because of the lack of red fury.

Which is a bit unfair on him, because the rest of his ruleset is good, and I don't think you should really dismiss someone just for lack of 1 power. And the Ring is a great piece of kit.

Edit: But this is about the Forbidden Rod, not Vlad.

Yeah back on topic. I just played a game with Forbidden Rod and Manny(got sucked into the void AGAIN! even though I just used 3 dice) anyways I really like forbidden rod(even though the Necro failed his 4+ regen and got 3 wounds) - it turns a weak(double 1's) magic phase into a good one. I like it.

Both things happen "at the start of the phase" so I would say that it's the controlling player that decides(as with a lot of other stuff) which means that you would wait and see how the winds go

vlad is just the strongest general in terms of survivability i was sick of crumbling becuase a few rats with halberds decided to poke my general good old vlad just has a rest and gets straigh back into it also im notorius for failing look out sirs ive lost 3 crushing games due to it (in one turn 2 warp fire cannons killed both my gerneral heinrich and krell) sigh haha plus with a mortis hes level 5 essentially and so strong in combat when combined with manfred however i recomend always chucking manfred into a challenge ^^ and running 2 corpse carts balefire and lode stone seems to horrific in my local meta

also forbiddon rod sounds good i may have to make points for that cheeky necromancer
