I was just wondering why they release an 'old' Mannfred? When did a vampire age?

Most Vampires aren't brought back into reality in the same way as Mannfred was by Necromancers so I believe that would be an explanation. Another explanation would be that experience can change the way you look...

I actually like all the new models. The skeletons are amazing looking, and I like the direction they went with Vlad.

Its more "Dark Lord" and less "Lets make him look like a stereotypical Dracula in order to separate him from the other bloodlines"

@Belial: I like to think that vampires have a kind of war aspect. As in, when they go to war, they let loose the beast within. This in my reasoning to the non-fair, Nosferatu like face.

I photoshoped Vlad a little bit, made the cloak less demonic, removed the bear paw, gave him black hair and less baldness...

It's not going to be too difficult to convert the model to cater to people's tastes...

hmmm, notice that they said the new skeles are some of the most 'intricate' models they've ever released... wonder if you will be able to stick each individual rib on? (really, i hope not )

A bit more serious now though, that is going into the Forum Quote Generator (FQG)!

yay :)
that photoshopped Vlad looks better, though i have no real complaints withthe model. Isabella yes (possibly for the same reason as MV ), but Vlad isnt too bad, continues with the Blood Dragon/Chaos Lord look of the Mannfred models. at least they are being consitent

Photoshop = much better. Stick him on a proper dioramic base and your set.

Perhaps I'd add a bat familiar a la Elysbeth von Carstein's in the 5th ed. army book... Ideas are already forming in my head :)

Looking at this miniature called Vlad von Carstein brings just one single memory in my mind:

... the one ring who rules them all ...

Arrrgh was it Gandalf who said that?

I have to see the 3 LOTR movies to feel those 5 year old nostalgic feelings again, and to get my facts straight.

I absolutely cannot wait to put together an army based around the VC family, 3-4k or so. I think it will have huge personality. What's better than a special character with a great fluff story? 4 Special characters with integrated fluff!

Vlad will be leading his family to war again!

One thing I might change about the new direction of the VC, is instead of units of vampires, it would be cool if they gave the option of having vampires as champions of non vampire units. You could really recreate Vlad's old army from the VC trilogy like that. It would be sweet.

Still I'm happy with the developments overall. Very fluffy, cool, impressive and just plain awesome. They have really put imposing fear into the army. (assuming certain rumours are fact).

Varghulf- Rare choice (same number of points at two trebuchet +5), nice stats and quite fast and 'fighty'.

Blood Knights - also a rare choice (same number of points as 'flying cav') and the stats are in a 'chosen knight of khorne armed with lance' ballpark + a bunch of other 'blood dragon' like rules. Still great models, and they will apear in most armies!

Corps cart- CORE! VERY CHEAP (for what it does), does not count towards core choices. If I was going to have a VC army, I would field at least two! Makes undead GOOD!!! plastic model and very well designed/good looking. same number of points as a blood knight -10.

The special characters are as described before in other threads.

I am sorry this is a scant info thread and it maybe does not deserve its own thread (mods, I will not be hurt if you lock/delete this thread). I only had the book in my hands for a short time and my memory is not photographic!

So any questions will be responded with, I can't remember OR I didn't get chance to read that.

I will say it was a very good looking book with plenty of fluff and excellent pictures!

Some stuff from warseer which i found.

Another thing(sorry if I am asking dumb questions :) ) - Has Mannfred been resurrected you say? What about Vlad then? Or will he remain "a character of the past"? Has anyone got anything on Mannfreds revival?

A post on WarSeer claims the book has 65 pages of background and fiction! That makes me happy bunny, but sounds a bit much for a 97 page book (are they still 97 pages?)

Love the photoshopped Vlad, but he's still impaled by an elephant. Please make a pic without tusk for us!

When posting a quote, quote.

I guess with the "Blood Dragon-esque" rules the KotBK will be all champions, like Grail Knights, and with compulsory challenge issues. Unfortunately. As it means that they go from being the answer to Waltar to being owned by Waltar, like everything else in a VC army. That would suck so much.

don't the new skele's look a bit erm... cartoony?...
is it just me that's noticing it or am i too tired?

I think you're tired. :) Oh and that the paint job is a bit bright (GW is going through another 4th edition neon colours phase).

lol, did you open the current skeleton box yet?

to be honest i have 3 of 'em:lol:
just took a quick break from studying (have christmas exams and today i have to study Religion and German...crap...)
so yes i'm probably too tired and now that you mention it , they are BRIGHT:|

They´re really cool, they look like the skeleton warriors in all those old films (the argonautes, evil dead 3,...) IMO. The corpse cart is great too (and I don´t like zombies very much because of all those gores) And I don´t have any problem with armours and vampires even for Carsteins (they look like DE more than Chaos), it´s true that the tusks and the bear claw doesn´t match very well with my idea of a vampire, but I think it´s just another fashion from GW, they tend to unify evil armies into a "barbarian style"... By the way, I love that big swords (they look very spanish XD XD XD) and I consider that Isabella miniature just rocks, even more than Vlad or Mannfred...

But it´s just an opinion

I´d like to say that I am really impressed by GW this time around. The army just look amazing(with a very small number of things that bother me, the cloak on vlad for one). Never thought I´d say this but I might actually enjoy painting those skeletons :)

Looking forward to the arrival.

Cheers

Anyone thought the elephant tusk is really a daemon (lord) trophy? And the bear paw is a bear (demon?) trophy?

Bet you didn't think of the demon bear. It's scary. (A vampire? Pffft. He killed a bear!? Run!)

Or maybe he's cold. Bear fur is warm.
