The further explanation clarifies somethings - thanks Danceman, earlier it kinda came across like you was a bit against the ideas but last post sorted that out. I will say one thing about this forum and its that most people creating thier characters tend to be more reserved, they aren't creating uber lords that can take over the world but more realistic ones, Mircea and Simon von Carstein to name two, I don't think my mistress is too bad either, not intentions of conquering the empire, just lusted after lol.

Danceman,

Thanks for the good words. I appreciate it. As for taking it the Extra mile and making it my own, yeah, I've kinda done that. :)

She's unique, my Vampiress. Living on Ulthuan is one thing, of which many high elf players have at times, lambasted me saying no way would it be capable. Thing is, alot of the cities of the High Elves are abandoned, Tor Yrvresse being one of the more sparsely populated areas. This is where she resides. Its time consuming to get back into Ulthuan yes, but for a Lahmian, which excels at blending into society, it isn't as much of a problem as it is say for, a Blood Dragon or a Von Carstein.

Interestingly enough, Neferata was the one who turned her. She was a sort of Elven Ambassador that ventured to Lahmia during exploration for the Elves as to why she was there. I figured that since she is an Elf, it would have to take a combination of an extremely powerful ritual and vampire combined in order to do it. And Neferatas wantoness to turn a High Elf Female who caught her eye into one of her own would definitely be high. Put simply, it was forced on Vadania, who fought it to extremes as much as she could. However, I figured on Neferata's magic being capable of enough of turning Vadania. My rationale was based on the idea that Elves always have this kind of otherworldly connection. A deeper connection to the earth, spirits, magic etc. This is the essence of what makes them who they are.

I figured the way that Neferata would force the change, would be a kind of severing first of that connection, or a bottling of it if you will. Basically, she grabbed or siphoned Vadanias spirit from the "other side" If you will, whatever one wishes to coin it, and trapped and sealed all of it within her mortal body. Without a true connection to the Aether, Vadania lost alot of what made her a true elf. This would in turn, make the conversion easier in my mind. She was then forcefully turned, which involved a lengthy ritual and the blood kiss itself. After all, its easy to turn a Mortal human, but an Elf not so much. But Magic can overcome this.

Thing is, Vadania loathes the Lahmian sisterhood. She has an especially deep seated hatred against Neferata. It wasn't long after the change that she somehow managed to escape Lahmia. She doesn't like what she is, but she isn't going about unlife like a moping emo sop that cuts their wrists constantly bemoaning their fate. My best way of attributing her mood would be akin to a kind of melancholy happiness and sadness blended together somehow. In her ancient castle in Tor Yvresse, shrouded by mists and spells, she's generally happy. She's kinda taken up a role of guardian in her own mind, watching over the lands of Tor Yvresse and trying to keep what surviving elves are there safe.

Now, some Lahmian traits do remain in Vadania. Mainly that of keeping and protecting a small white cat that always remains at her side. As well as keeping female aides close to her. Other then that, Vadania just mainly keeps to herself and leaves the Elves alone. She feeds on them mind you, the occasional straggler wandering around in the woods. Hunters, what have you. But she never kills them.

Interestingly enough, the items I always equip her with are more for fluff based reasoning rather then the benefits they give. The Crown of the Damned for example, I view as her old crown, somewhat capable of reconnecting her to what it was like to be an elf. However, the force of the remeberance can sometimes overwhelm her, thus rendering her with stupidity when a particularly strong elven feeling rips through her mind.

Maybe I should try and write up some fluff or stories...have had alot of that spinning in my head of late. I like to think of Vadania as some ghostly Guardian that watches over the younger Elves yet keeps herself hidden and tries not to harm anyone.

Things like this. So in essence, yes, I have made the exception my own instead of just simply stating "Well, its this way because I say so. "

Interestingly enough, I do see your point when it comes to the matters of Dark Elves submitting to Chaos and what have you. I have heard that coming alot from players, usually the younger ones. Characters that are of X Nature or Race coming from seemingly unbelievable backgrounds and for no logic and reason other then " I can "

Like you said, make the exception your own.

As far as I know I´ve heard other "senior" fluff-bunnies speak of elven blood in another sense. It´s basically like speed for vampires, so having a bunch of dark elf captives to keep her rather perculiar apitites from getting unnessecary attention perhaps thats one way to explain things. After all she doesnt have to drain them completely... just a little sip now and then :)

Cheers

My Lahmian is human I toyed with a Dark Elf for a while and might do it.......... for now though humans easier.

You know...

Thank you for giving me a wonderful idea....I'm gonna have to convert some models now just for fluff or an actual unit. A walking unit of Female Dark elf slaves that she keeps around for drinkage at those thirsty moments when the blood of others just isn't quite quenching enough. :)

Thanks Danceman.

According to fluff the current vampire strain from the elixir of life only works on humans and not elder races, however you are always free to represent your vampire however you wish to.

You don't turn into a vampire if you are bit by one. The vamp must give you it's blood. So even if a vampire would be driven to drink for example dwarven blood, the dwarf wouldn't turn into a vampire. Zacharias the Everliving drank the blood of a dragon and I believe the dragon didn't become a vampire (that would be sweet though...)

I recall that there were some undead High Elves in the Black Library novel Gilead's Blood, but I forget if any of them were actually vampires.

Ok, I checked. There were no Elf vampires in the book, but there were some corrupted Elves that were described in a very undead-seeming way, yet which also bore some taint of Chaos.

although this thread looked dead and buryed a while back with being new to the site im breathing more life and argument into it. :D
i dont see why a few seem pretty certain that races like Elves cannot become vampires because of the magic in them or something along those line. its just FANTASY so people can have whatever races they want to become Vampires considering GW US did it. and im having a Dark Elf Vampire Sorceress/Necromancer in my army who recived a blood kiss off a von carstein who fled to Naggaroth after Hel Fenn and im just using the excuse that it was possible due to there bonds to the winds of chaos because why not? its fantasy and ment to be fun plus i liked the model off Avatars-of-War. also fluff is on background, story writing, background of your count so comments please :D

Found this thread. Personaly I don't like the conept of an elven vampire of other races as vampires. It seems to me that people are trying to make an ''uberleet'' character better than the others. If it says in the fluff that it is not possible then it is not possible. Otherwise we can have space marines crashshing through the skies riding T-Rexes and weilding lightsabers to fight Skaven. It just does'nt support fluff. Wait, actually that sounded pretty cool, I'd liek to see that image of Marines riding dinos. But back to the point.

Elves: OMG 1337!!!!
Vampires: UBERLEET!!!
Evlen Vampires: OMG 1337 UNBERLEET AWE20ME!

That said one can still make their army any way they want, it is their army and you can go ahead and do it. My personal opinion is that I do not think it is fluffy. But that's just me.

I don't think it's possible for races other than humans/orcs etc. I believe vampirism is a sort of disease/infection that affects the blood of humans. I think that's why humans are already dead when they are turned: the heart stops pumping and gives the vampiric cells a chance to turn the humans blood. Perhaps other races have blood that is 'too pure' to be turned, or the body is strong enough to fight vampirism in the same way as bacteria, killing the cells before they can take effect.

Personally, I'm all for vampires of other races. My own vampire is a vampire skaven, though i don't see him conforming to the superhero syndrome. He's a very fast character, and decent with magic, but in return he isn't anywhere near as tough as an ordinary vampire lord. He became a vampire because he killed a vampire by biting it, ingesting its blood in the process. As far as my knowledge of the process of the blood kiss, looking at the 6th and 7th edition VC army books, that is perfectly acceptable fluffwise. Any other background I don't view as particularly relevant, and anyway, there's nothing out there that I've seen that contradicts my view that skaven can become vampires. While I don't believe that vampirisim is a disease (I think that a scientific explanation doesn't really cut it, when you consider the magical origins of vampires), rats are quite close to humans genetically, so that could work as well
Overrall, I'm in favour of vampires of other races, so long as the players in question have a suitable explanation. The vast majority of players use human vampires, so its hardly an epidemic of non-human vampires. There may be a few, but a bit of imagination is hardly a bad thing.

Now.....someone needs to make that Rat ogre Blood Dragon Vampire lord with the corpses of clan Skyre Warlocks impaled onto giant pointy sticks coming out from his back now....Maybe Strigoi...
I'll keep you posted

Ok, I checked. There were no Elf vampires in the book, but there were some corrupted Elves that were described in a very undead-seeming way, yet which also bore some taint of Chaos.

Well, after reading the 'Darkblade' quintilogy I am convinced that there is only one thing stopping elves from becoming vampires. Being given the Blood Kiss by a human vampire wouldn't work, it would simply kill them or at least make them very ill. To create an elven vampire you would need to have a magic-user of no mean skill concoct a more potent variant of Neferata's Elixir, but one based on elven instead of human blood.

Malus lost his soul (at least the warp-based part of it) when a Daemon Prince ripped it from him. He didn't even realize that had happened until he noticed his wounds no longer bled and he didn't have a pulse! Sound familiar? If a Dark Elf can live with virtually no soul that means vampirism will not kill them, especially if they are only partly vampiric ala Genevieve. There are pointy-eared zombies, wights, revenants etc. basically all undead are corpses and/or spirits bound and animated by varying amounts of Dhar.

As an aside, I am not at all surprised that vampires consider elven blood a delicacy. It is probably not unlike the blood of dragons in that it has certain magical properties...

I would not put it past a dark elf to render down a couple of dozen vampires to make a dollop of elixir to augment/prolong their power. They could even be in kahoots with a single necrarch-type vampire who cheerfully turns an imprisoned villiage in return for an objet de uber power.

For any other 'flavour' of vampire you could always blame some necrarch experiment gone wrong. After all, they do spend decades at a time figuring out which order to trim their toenails in will give them the most power.

I think the Lahmian mentality would especially suit Skaven. Lurking, plotting, ohh so trixy....
I think a black ork Blood Dragon would just be a cool idea.
I don't know about doing an ogre, though. You'd need one hell of an appetite.

When I expand my army my blood knights will be champions from all races. I just figured it would look cool, even if it isn't fluffy.

As for vampires having no soul, does that mean that there is no "Immortal James Brown"?

No suprise I agree with Gree. I do not like the idea of a vampire elf. Period. The only way I see it happending is that it is similiar but different from a vampire. The elexir of life does not exist, its means erased and good luck convincing Neferata or Nagash to pour up another for you.

That is the main part of why I dont find the "NEWS! Elexir of life; Now also availble for elves!" sales pitch very plauseble. The second part would be elven blood rejecting any kind of similiar treatment as a live elf would, it would simply shut down and die.

There are a few ways I can see something vampire-like happending to other races. First one is, a lich lord. Already dead, risen and by force of will escapes imprisonment by the necromancer or vampire who brought him/her back to life(perhaps by killing it!). Second, daemonic possession/pact. Tricked and damned, in short. Extra strength but at a terrible cost. But I have already been through this part severa times before. Fodderboy is also onto something me thinks.

Danceman.

i dont know if someone has come into this discussion with the same idea as i have and im not going to check through all the pages to check
but..
we are thinking of vampires brought about by either

A) the origional curse, passed on via the blood kiss
or
B) the elixir

who says that there is just one curse of vampirism?
if you made the fluff you could probably justify it
for example
a chaos dwarf wants to become a bloodthirsty killing machine and beseaches Khorne, in a hilarious twist the blood god grants him what he wants and makes it a little to literal
and TAH DA you have yourself a dwarf who thirsts for blood
he may not technically be a vampire
BUT
he does have vampire properties

I would have to say of all the other races in Warhammer, Orcs and Skaven are the most likely to be vamp-ed, simply because those are the only two races that don't have some sort of protection against it. Elder races have their magical defenses, a lizardman would never EVER allow something like that to happen, TK are already undead, and Chaos is Chaos, hence a natural protection.

But, a Black Orc Blood Dragon does sound appealling...

The main problem would however be to justify a vampire to actually give an orc that kind of power. Also, if orcs truly are alive in the same sense as a human is. Furthermore, orc blood dont interest vampires in the slightest which also should be taken into account.

How many times does it have to be said that no race other then humans can be afflicted with the current strain of Vamparism derived from Wsoran and Neferta's original elixir.

What are you basing that on Crimson? That may be your opinion, but that doesn't necessarily make in the final answer on the subject. As far as I am aware GW has not stated where they stand in regards to this, and thus it is open to interpretation.

Many parts of warhammer fluff are open ended and thus open upto debate.

Plus even if that was true, I'm sure Necrach's would quite happily sit and experiment with the their blood, trying to create a form that would infect races other than humans.

Orcs are immune to almost any sickness including many of nurgles so I think Vampirism would affect a Orc as bout as mutch as a Elf ,maybe even be invunerble to it

A good point Goulking88. However, elves suffer a violent reaction which is in almost all cases fatal.

Disciple of Nagash: Not only would such experiments weaken the vampire itself but it would also mean unlocking the mystery behind the blood kiss itself meaning this necrarch would be able to re-create the elexir himself becoming the most powerful vampire unlive. It is of course possible it could happend but I have to say you would be fairly arrogant to write up a character to be the most powerful vampire in the warhammer world.

All races can however be raised from the dead(bar daemons since they're not truly physical). Once dead the dead bodies are at the disposal of vampires and other necromatically able creatures.

Well, I'm pretty cool with vamps of other races as long as there's some justification. For example, Quezalat, my character-to-be in TVC, has already died once so he does not have the high magic required to reject the Blood Kiss. My friend's vampiric High Elf mage had an addiction to magic, and when he was raised his will rebelled against never being able to touch the Winds again and displaced a nearby vampire, gaining his body.

In my book, it's okay as long as you have an reasonable excuse.
