Varghulf substitute possibility?

I love Werewolves. Unfortunately, the closest our army gets is the Varghulf, and I really dislike the GW model. So...

I saw this on the Privateer Press website. Does anyone happen to know how big this model is? I'd hazard at quite a bit bigger than a Varghulf...

Acording to the info beneath the picture he stands on a 50mm base, so I think he is indeed quite bigger then a Vraghulf, as the varghulf normally also stands on a 50mm base

And when looking at the werewolf model again it looks like its at least 150mm (15cm) high, while the Varghulf is only is around 40mm high.

That seems very likely to be true. On the other hand, I think one of the reasons I don't like the Varghulf much is the small size. Especially when you compare it to the new Vargheists. I reckon that Warpwolf would compare far more favourably. It looks like it belongs in the Monster catagory. As long as it can fit on a Varghulf base I think it might have to be a purchase!

As long as you are okay with true LOS on a bigger model. Honestly, I agree with the varghulfs size, it's kind of underwhelming. As for that guy, he is impressive and big, he just looks a little to woodsy, lithe, magiky for a VC army. Make sure you paint him up nice and dirty, and model his base to be a graveyard, that should fix the problem.

It looks like a conversion using a Daemon prince with Varngheist wings, and GS fur.

I think the wings used in the conversion I posted are just the ones from the Daemon Prince kit converted to fit the arms. Obviously all the fur covers up the chaos iconography. I'm tempted to give that one a try.

the model that you started this thread with is indeed MUCH larger than a Varg. It's an "epic" model, produced in limited quantity, through PP. A standard warpwolf sculpt (found HERE ) or the "Pureblood" sculpt (found HERE ) are more in-scope for the size you are looking for.

That model is about 6" from base to top. Just watched a game with one. It's also quite unstable - better give it a heavy base!
