Not sure if I'm in the right area of the master's castle, but what is everyone's thoughts on the out of print battle magic cards. Are they a necessity or no?

I own some and use them every game. Technically you could make your own, but if they are a reasonable price they are worth picking up. A company called mayday make card sleeves large enough to fit the spell cards to. Those are worth grabbing to keep your cards nice.

What makes them so helpful, is you can just group them and quickly access them for each caster. Also, I've had lists I know so well that I don't need my book, and I've been able to play warhammer without having to pull a book or tablet out because I've got my dice, tape measure and cards.

I do it sooner than later. They could jump in price with Nagash and the undead legion releasing.

I've never seen a set for less than $20, which I think is too much. I actually have a powerpoint saved with all of the spells, some special character and unit stat cards, and vampiric power cards if you want it. I made them about the same size as the cards and then I got them laminated. They are all color coded and such. Just let me know and I can PM them to you. You can edit it to add things you want. I didn't include things that I didn't use at the time, like TG, ME, CT, etc. but I will likely do so if I get the time.

Of course you COULD write them down... But why go through such labor when somebody else has already done all of the work?

I didn't. I got my set when they came out, and I can't imagine playing without them.

But a quick check on Ebay reveals the Vampire Counts spell cards going for $30-$70 USD, and I wouldn't pay that.

Since it talks about points values, you can kit out your lord or hero or anything you summon for that matter, however you want, provided it's within the points value. For example, Dark Riders, (standard non-nagash summon), you can summon 7 Black Knights, or 5 Black Knights with Lances and Barding.

Exactly, which is why I offered the PowerPoint version.

The powerpoint sounds exactly what I am looking for could you send it to me?

Given that GW massively underestimated the release of Nagash the cards are all but sold out..i've seen Lore of Undeath going for like £20-£30 on Ebay now which considering the cards are retail £4.50 is way to expensive for me...i'll stick with my old pen and paper.

Yea I dont understand why GW doesn't just keep printing them, I will pay for LoV cards but not the amounts that the ebay scammers ask for them.

Someone has made a thread somewhere with selfmade cards, even with an image for the backside to make em look fancy.
I dont know if it was Alabaster but its somewhere on this forum. i have them on my pc as well and i use those. im unwilling to pay the insane amounts asked for the oop officials. i think its abit shameful that GW doesnt do print on demand. something they will do in the future ive been told.

Well, my opinion is that having spell cards really helps the game. I was very lucky, as I picked my VC cards for 3 euros (roughly 5 dollars?) from a fantasy shop bazaar that a local shop does every May, as well as the cards for all 8 lores for 5 euros (roughly 7.5 dollars).
I have been using them ever since and they really help remembering and using magic without the rulebook ^_^

I use magic/psyker cards in every game I play whether fantasy or 40k. They're not essential but they help the game flow.
