Looks hard as nails to me.The only thing I don't like is the coach,I'd trade it for wraiths(no banshee).

I agree with Lasombra, trade the coach for wraiths. After all, you don't want your lvl4 über-expensive vampire to run out of dice now would you?

Motba will usually offset the dice consumption from the coach, and still will allow a giant flying ethreal coach of doom that likes to eat your oponents dice too. Then again, Ive not played a singled 8th edition game with my VC yet, so I dont know how it works in practice, but It sounds good in theory.


Edit: I would also move the book of Ark to your thrall or just get a necro with VHD, and put another item on your lord since most of the time you will get Van hells with a level 4 lord too unless you're that worried about it.

I´d drop the blood knights for wraiths . The coach is very durable and Motba helps reducing it PD sucking effects. For me, the coach usually does more harm to my opponents.

I´d really try to get a dispel scroll in there. There are a couple of spells out there you really want to stop. I never leave home without it.

Thanks for the replies! The Book of Arkhan is because I rarely cast anything outside of VHD and Ion, maybe SUH or WOU. If my Lord fails to cast a spell, I can still use the book & salvage my magic phase. The thrall's goal is to miscast on Purple Sun or Fate of Bjuna early on & if they don't kill her then she runs behind their lines casting Doom & Darkness and Soulblight.
I haven't used Wraiths, WS3 and T3 has been a big reason why. How do you use them? In my upcoming games, if the Coach or the Blood Knights under-perform then I might be tempted to try them out, but I'd want to have a good idea of their uses before I drop $60 to get four of them!
The idea behind this list is that I dropped my CC lord to add in rares. After using Konrad in his place in a smaller point game, and in the same WK/Drakenhof Grave Guard unit, I find he does more or less the same for less points. However a casting general is easier to kill and only taking one lord at 3000 points seems to be a rarity where I play, with everyone taking a fighty General backed up by a Lv4. Some people take 3 lords. I try to avoid the Deathstar approach, and having 4 units that are threats means my enemy will really have to be on his game with shooting & magic priority before my soldiers get dansed into his lines!

Wraiths are bloody amazing. Mainly because that they are ethreal, so T3 doesnt really matter if the enemy cant even hit them.

I'll have to try them out! They're cheaper $ than I thought. Next game I'll try out the list as is & let everyone know how it went, then I'll try out the Wraiths. If I drop the Blood Knights I could get 5, and either a Banshee or add one more Grave Guard to both units, if I drop the Coach I could get 4 straight up.
What's everyone's opinion on the Banshee? Is she worth it?

I'd probally drop the unit of blood knights to 5, and put the points you get from the blood knights into wraiths, Blood Knights arent really that good in ranks, since the second rank only gets 1 attack each and the mounts get none, and you arent really going to deny the other unit steadfast with the extra rank.

Edit: ... derp, I read you had 10 blood knights for some reason.

Edit 2 >.>: How hellbent on having 2 units of GG are you? I'd probally like to see a horde formation of GG with GW instead of the two units. Maybe one unit 35-ish in size, and the other one can be whatever you have left, or you can just put the points from the other GG into another vamp thrall with some usefull items.

The two GG units are working for me at the moment. People tend to try to avoid one around here instead of going all out against it and spells like Dwellers & Purple Sun make me nervous. Also since I can place my characters last it gives me two options as to where I drop Konrad & my BSB. If I'm facing a HPA, dual Hydras, treekin ect., then I drop them in the HW/S unit with flaming attacks. Otherwise I put them in the GW unit and danse them asap into combat with anything pretty much. And I've never lost either unit, ever. I run them 7 wide & my Ghouls 10 wide. Though thats another thing I can try out (when I buy more GG as I only have 30 of each), drop some rares & beef up my GG & Ghouls. Sounds like a lot of good suggestions so far!

5 blood knights will get wiped, theres much better use for those points imo.

Played against Bretonnians today with this exact list.....
I lost the two Ghoul units, the Blood Knights, and the PSun bomb vampire....
He lost everything except one Grail Knight, one Questing Knight, and one Trebuchet!
We rolled for Battle for the Pass so I knew I was going to have to eat bout 3 turns of Trebuchets and Arrows.
Highlights of the game was his General getting a Heroic Killing Blow on my Black Coach, I made the ward save, and then returned the favor which he didn't save!
Because I made a stupid mistake my General got charged by the one Questing Knight and a second Lord Paladin. I challenged, so only the Lord could strike me, and my General ended up killing the Lord! (It took 2 1/2 turns so 5 combat rounds....)
My Ghouls, who were charged by the Grail Knights, killed 6 Grail Knights the first round of combat!
The Drakenhof Grave Guard were beat silly with flaming arrows and 3 Trebuchet shots a turn, but I managed to raise them back.
I am dropping the Blood Knights for the Wraiths. Lets give them a try.....
I am also going to kit my General out with the Talisman of Preservation instead of Wristbands of Black Gold. I'll have to do some tweaking with points.
Last I really want to fit in the Staff of Damnation somehow, but where?
