When you kill a character who is in a unit you will receive victory points right? But I cant find these rules in the BRB can someone help me win the game?

Well the one I was playing says you only get the when the whole unit that the character joined is destroyed

Well the one I was playing says you only get the when the whole unit that the character joined is destroyed

The moment a character leaves a unit through death, movement, or the unit dying around him he immediately becomes his own unit after combat resolution. I do not have a page quote at the moment but its there.

So if hes killed out of it you killed the unit he was in because he immediately became a unit of just himself.

There may be a more concrete rule on the subject. But this was all i ever needed.

I mean you get VPs for enemy units dead or fled at the end of the game right. If the character is dead at the end of the game you get his points, whether or not he joined a unit during the course of the game or not. I've never heard of somebody arguing your opponents way before. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but to me it's clear-cut.

Here's an example to show what I think your saying: a character, say a vampire lord, is in a unit of black knights. Turn 1 he dies to a cannon shot. As long as the knights survive the game he doesn't give up his VPs?!!? Of course he does: regardless of the fate of the knights.

BRB page 99, first paragraph:
Whilst a character is part of a unit, both he and the unit (including any other characters are treated as a single combined unit for are rules purposes, save for the exceptions listed here.

So as long soon as the character stops to be a part of the unit he has joined he starts to count as a unit on his own. The question then is if the character is still counted as part of the unit when he is dead. I say no but I can't really find any concrete rule support for it.

An indication that this is the correct way to play it is the example of an Underdog Challenge on page 143. It says that a character costing 92 pts is worth 92+50 VP if slain in challenge with a champion and makes no mention of any unit the character being part of having to die too.

I guess it comes down to the combined unit being treated as a single unit. In fact they aren't a single unit they are two units acting as one and so can be destroyed independently of each other and give up their vps independently.
