My group and I have gone through our first level in our campaign. Each army started out with 250 pts. You can spend 150 on a hero. Or you can have a unit champ be your general. But the unit has to be its real minimum. Infintry bases are a minimum of 3. Calvery bases are 2, and monstrous infintry bases is 1. I got 2 units of 2 dire wolves. Unit of 3 crypt horror(with champ) and a unit of 2 vargiest. Bringing me to 248 pts.

In game 1 vs Skaven I killed everything. Giving me an additional 100 pts to spend on game 2,

So I need help deciding what direction should I go. Empire will be next. Then chaos. Right now the chaos player is the only guy to have a lvl 1. And he has fire ball. He also has unit of 10 warriors, and a small unit of muraders.
The empire player has a unit of 20 halbidiers. And 2 units of 7 handgunners.

I don't have to spend my pts right away. I can save for when I get more. Say like 150 to spend on a baby vamp. Giving my magic and a way to kill warriors. I cannot get any more special or rare. Do I bulk up the 4 units I have? Do I get any other hero options? I can only spend 150 on heros.
Any suggestion or ideas welcome. I like the idea of a baby vamp, if I can tool him not to die. I'm also not bound to have lore of vamps by my general. Thanks in advance

Wow, okay I would say hold on to those points till you can get another 50 so you can have that level 1 vamp. But 150 is still pretty light to make a solid vamp. You could take that 100 points that you have now and get a level 2 necro on death! that'd be a fun one! although a level 2 on vamps for IoN on your Crypt horrors would rock at that low of points,

Thanks for quick response. I should cover a few more things. We can only have a lvl 1. And he can only know the sig or first spell of chosen lore. Even at lvl 1 and getting another crypt horror would be nice, healing 2 wounds a turn. Plus lore attribute.

My concern is 10+Chaos warriors. By the time I play him I think he'll have a few more toys. He also got 100 it's first round. And probably will the second round too.

Ohh okay, well skip the necro if you can only have a level 1. Wait till you can max out your hero and make a pretty sweet Vamp hero. Then any extra points just sink into the crpyt horrors. Although I would also add a unit of 5+ zombies so that your vamp hero doesn't get blown to pieces by shooting or what not.

Ethereals at low points are amazing. Especially since you said there's only one wizard running around. A Wraith hero might be handy to shut those Warriors up.

Ohhh yeah! A wraith hero and a level 1 necro, then you have an extra 25 points to spend!

Edit: Ooops forgot to add the baby vamp you asked for.

Vamp
Sword of Striking
Heavy Armor
Charmed Sheild
Potion of Strength

Do you think a wraith should solo the warriors? In any unit I think the warriors would eat up any number. Think a conga line with a wraith at the front would work?

If you're only worried about the worriors then I'm leaning towards soloing, it's risky, very risky, but it could do you well. for instance:

You charge
They can't hit you
You hit them
You wound with 1 attack
Hope they don't save it
If they don't save it then you win combat by 1 (Charge+wound-enemy banner)
If they do save it then you lose by 2 and die (Charge-enemy banner-rank)
Then after that the most they can do to you is +1 and you lose 1 of your 2 wounds. Now you IoN with your necro, and use the lore attribute to bring him back to full strength.

As long as you can kill 1 in that first round of combat then your gold. Also, you may not even need to fight them. Never forget that you will be the only player (assumption) in the campaign with a terror causing model.

I would say a banshee and 10 zombies in conga. On average rolls she is better than a wraith. She comes up to 9 on a roll of 7 ie 1 wound on CW. The zombies is for a bad roll and that 100% fireball at her. Just My thinking. GL and may you always roll 6's. ;)

Thanks for all the ideas. Not sure how many of you have played this size army. Super tough to choose. But pretty fun to play

Not many, there is a "Regiments of Renown" Tourney that our shop is doing that is 100 point games of fantasy so that'll be fun! But I can't say I've played many games less than 1,000.

And you're welcome!
