Always plan for the future xD
But yes, for any others interested in the vast 40k universe, as well as PC Gaming, there is a Warhammer 40k Online PC game currently in the works.
2012 is the currently scheduled year of release.
This game has been in the making since around 2007 I believe :|
Though good details have been few to none since 2008 unfortunately.

Here's a schedule chart for up to 2012, as well as some brief info.
( Note the large number of Spongebob games :clown: )

Here's a Q&A

Then here's some more info

Combat will apparently take place on a larger scale than in EA Mythic's fantasy MMO, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Since Mythic is anticipating raid sizes of 70 players or so for city sieges in WAR, this is a pretty bold claim.

"All of the races important to Warhammer 40,000 lore (not to mention the fans) will be represented," creative director Joe Madureira reassured the magazine.

He also confidently stated that there will be "tons of stuff hanging off your character, weapons, scrolls... we are going to have the coolest looking characters of any MMO, ever. Once we begin releasing images, feel free to call me on that."

Again, this is fighting talk, after the astonishing demonstration of the characters in All Points Bulletin given at this year's GDC.

Finally PC Gamer provides some unsurprising but none the less enticing detail on the world players will find themselves in: "cities, alien temples, Chaos shrines, deserted battlefields (er, woo?), mysterious ruins, ancient structures, and - here's the cool one - 'drifting hulks in space'."

Warhammer 40K Online is in development at THQ's Vigil Games studio in Austin.

Flanking, cover, and suppressing fire are also said to be highly represented in the game as well.
Squad tactics and such are said to be essential to your success in the game.

Lets just hope the world doesn't end in 2012 :clown:

I'm somewhat interested. I'm not getting into WAR simply because...well...I already play LOTRO. This might turn me over to 40K more though, especially if the Orky ones are well represented. ^^

Either that or the DE nastiness. That'd be fun.

Wish I had the technology, I'm too poor to get the hardware required for anything post-2005 or so.

*Kicks computer* that said, if I start saving now, I could probably save up for a new motherboard & graphics card by 2012, but I'll be at the end of my degree then & will doubtless have spent my last scrapings on 14p (adjusted for inflation) noodles.

2012 will be the end of the world because the awesomeness of this game will explode everyone's heads.
