The strange, improbable and often quite insane creatures known as Squigs are half-fungoid, half-flesh beasts that breed and multiply wherever Orcs and Goblins gather. These foul and vicious monstrosities range in size from bestial hunting Squigs and the madcap Squig Hoppers that some Night Goblins ride to war; to the feared Mangler Squigs goaded into battle to devour the enemy wholesale. None of these beasts match the sheer size of the Colossal Squigs though, said to haunt the depths of the Grey Mountains and the Vaults.

These cyclopean, spherical monsters boast an insatiable appetite, and are in essence no more than an impossibly vast fleshy maw studded with row upon row of scimitar-bladed teeth. Near impossible to direct, let alone train, Night Goblin Shaman must resort to drugged meat (often live and unfortunate Goblin ‘volunteers’) or hugely potent spells to overcome the crude instincts of these behemoths.

Multi-part resin model, designed by Mark Bedford. Available to pre-order now for despatch from the 25th of May. Rules for the Colossal Squig can be found in Monstrous Arcanum. Scenic base and additional plastic components shown in painted version for illustration purposes only.

It looks retarded. Not a fan in the slightest. Not even sure how it was accepted to be put into production. Busy at the front with no detail at the back. o_o

That paint job is horrific. Thanks JC for putting up a pic of the unpainted model, it does have potential, but.... I shudder to imagine the cost of that ball of resin.

The latest from GW/FW campaign "Bigger is Better", aimed at kids who say "cool" and "awesome". Not for me. And you would think with the prices they charge they could afford a half decent painter! That's a base coat and wash at best, might as well have not bothered.

I'm not sure what you expect forgeworld to release other than monsters for warhammer fantasy..... sure, they made those empire ironclads, but its not like you can make a "book of slightly better armoured fantasy troops". You want small monsters? Watch as I tremble in fear at the sight of a 1 foot tall resin squig! Fear its ankle biting power!

Knight conversion kits, be it new knightly orders for empire (or just better), god specific chaos knight and chaos warrior kits, BSB's, knight orders on foot (so alternate greatswords), big un conversion kits, new characters, dogs of war, hell they could even do kits to convert state troops into zombies.

Really just so much more they can do, maybe they could do a whitewolf army, teutogen guard on foot made by forgeworld, yes please!

That would be nice!
The Old models are lovely, I would probably buy a set if Forgeworld made 'em... and, I don't even play Empire!

Yes, they could make those things, but its still hard to make them fit in with a book full of stuff.

Oh, by the way, Warhammer Forge's next book is going to be about the 3rd battle for black fire pass.

So it will probably have accompanying stuff for Dwarves/Orcs & Goblins (and maybe empire?). I wouldn't deride Forgeworld for making Monstrous Arcanum and its accompanying monsters- its probably what they should have made first instead of Tamurkhan, because the monsters are useful for all armies, while Throne of Chaos/Blackfire Pass are only really useful for Empire/Chaos/Orcs/Dwarves mostly. Just be patient and the other non monsters stuff will probably come out- Remember that Forgeworld itself started out making super heavies, flyers and titans, but they did eventually get around to making small stuff like the Death Korps of Krieg and Space marine armour variants. I expect a similar pattern with Warhammer Forge- make the big stuff that normal warhammer doesn't already provide first, then branch out into the somewhat more specialised and less useful stuff

By less useful I mean- warhammer already has knightly orders in model form, and the rules for them. It doesn't have the special/esoteric monsters/elementals that monstrous arcanum provides, and before Warhammer Forge monsters were limited to a fairly small size (the size of a 40k chimera) Some people do want some more impressive monsters than that.

Well, I assume that Battle for Blackfire pass will have lots of O&G and Dwarven goodies that aren't monsters (especially as monstrous arcanum already covers a fair few O&G monsters, and dwarves don't so much use monsters as kill them)

It it doesn't have a zany dwarven airship I will be starting a book of grudges with their name in it however.

Looks good to me, it's a poignant design. Big mouth with legs!

Cyclopean? Something tells me that the guy writing the description hadn't seen the model

Cyclopean can refer to something vast, or gigantic, at least according to my dictionary.

I had always taken cyclopean to mean similar to a cyclops, in that it has one eye. I didn't really think that it could mean big too, but I suppose the cyclops was big...

That's nothing to go by, if you take one of the dictionaries in my house literally rocks are defined as dead!

The oxford one remembers to put the distinction in that something has to have been alive first, but the other one doesn't...

On a totally off topic note, did you know that according to the Oxford English dictionary, one of the definitions of 'found' is acquired. A good thing to say when you next get caught red handed:
"Where did you get that car radio?"
"I found it..."

I saw this guy in person at Games Day and the detail is much more impressive in person. The main body is some where in between a tennis ball and a softball. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but that paint job does not do it justice at all.

I think making the model the "king of squigs" with a whole herd of them rampaging below it would be funny.
