Warhammer - Lustria 2015

Hello, fellow lords of the night!

While I use most of my free time to play tabletop games or do related activity (like assembling/painting miniatures), I also like LARP - Live Action Role Play. I do my best to visit at least one major game per year.

This August, I took part in the "Warhammer - Lustria 2015" game. It took place near Moscow, Russia. I was a part of the team of Nurgle followers, consisting of Chaos Warriors of Nurgle, Nurgle Cultists and Nurgle Sorcerers. My character, Gul Proll, was a creator and a carrier of diseases.

Our team was roleplayng the process of disease creation and spreading. We were so successful that by the end of the game (which lasted 4 days) all the three major human settlements in Lustria were suffering from terrible epidemic, with physicians unable to cure all the infected. We were spreading plague, eye rot, jungle fever, and many other creations of the allmighty Father Nurgle.

The undead were also present. There were a von Carstein Vampire Lord, a pair of his thralls, a pair of Blood Dragons and a single Lahmia, with necromancers, ghouls, skeletons, zombies, grave guards and banshees following them.

I love this!

I've never seen a Warhammer LARP before even though the potential for it must be great. A bit curious to see that there are no lizardmen, though, being in Lustria and all.

I added a single Lizardman photo.
Lizardmen were a major faction in 2013 (during previous game of Lustria).
This year, only a handful of people wanted to play lizardmen, so GMs asked them to guard Slann ruins/dungeon.

Most armor you see is made from plastic. Soft parts are usually made of foam-like polimer materials.
While it is possible to craft it all by yourself (and many people do it), you can also order one from a master/online shop. This will save you lots of time (but will likely be more expensive).
I believe crafting guides are all over the internet, so you can google one if you will decide to try yourself in crafting

That is certainly pretty amazing. I don't think I'd ever end up at an event like this on my own, but I wouldn't oppose going if I knew someone who was a part of or planned to join something like this.

How big/extensive is the game exactly? Is it like in Role Models (That one movie, you know?), because honestly that's about my best look into anything LARP-y at all :ghost:

The game started at August 25, 2015 18:30, and ended at August 29, 2015 15:00. It is worth mentioning that the game was going on non-stop, even during nighttime.
The movie you mention is funny, but it shows the process from the outside. From the inside, it is more like playing tabletop roleplay with most game mechanic replaced by real-life actions (you need to actually run through the forest, stab enemies with your weapon until they are out of hit points, and so on).
Also the movie shows mostly LARP combat, while most games I visited had a lot of content like social life of towns, intrigues, alchemy, medicine, economy, quests and global plot.
