Hey all! I hope the summer has been good for you. I wanted to post a list that is in-progress. The collection painted but wanted to get a list hammered out before ordering movement trays vs rebasing the old army. I know most folks are taking wight kings and/or a second necromancer. I'm considering having two vampire blenders (x2 sword of might) on each to give both the skeletons some killing power and the gg some speed. I'm hoping that the master necro can help heal/raise. I still have 15 points left over too. Thanks in advance for all advice.

I haven't played the Old World game yet. The Flayed Hauberk allows a vampire both armor and casting. So I don't think that you can be a caster with armor, save special/magic items. And as many times as I have turned to other games, GW has me enthralled again with the Old World. I'd forgotten how much I've missed square bases and rank bonuses!

Hobby wise, I'm trying to finish my classic (6th/8th) edition Empire Army currently. Yet I'm also updating my VC to play the new game. Vampire counts are really good with this edition. With my two older armies I'm just going to get some movement trays to save me from having to rebase the armies. I am, however, planning a Night Goblin/Black Orc army with the new base size in the future.

Currently, the Old World meta is all about monstrous cavalry and dragons. That said, there have been some excellent tournament success with shooty/gunline lists (Empire and Wood Elves). Also cavalry is back and effective. So I've been thinking about creating an all mounted VC list designed to move fast, control the field, and to hit hard. With a Wight King, both GG and Black Knights can be a core choice. Another aspect with TOW is that the magic phase is very important. The game is still somewhat new, so the meta is still developing. Good news is that VAmpire Counts have a "deep bench" in terms of several excellent units that will work for multiple build strategies. Additionally, it seems to me that multiple small unit (MSU) armies are doing really well too which really hasn't been the case since 6th edition of Warhammer Fantasy.

Nice, sounds like good fun!

Regarding MSU lists then I would point out that they were also very competetive in 8th, especially Lizardmen with lots of skinks were strong at the tournament scene. I really liked running multiple wolf "darts" back then, such a cheap unit that just ruined big units day with redirection.

Sound interesting that monstrous cav and dragons are strong. I suppose the dragons are strong now because they are not separate from the rider as it was back in WHFB?
