anybody getting this for their e-readers or Ipad?...with the rumors of 9th edition supposedly/possibly in the works, would it be worth it to spend 40.00 bucks? and if 9th edition comes out will GW upgrade the digital version or make you buy the new version? What are your thoughts

if 9th edition comes out will GW upgrade the digital version or make you buy the new version?

This comment made my day xD

My thoughts are we shouldn't encourage GW by buying their digital products for the prices they currently are. To answer your question though, I would wait.

if 9th edition comes out it will most definitely be a new book that you will have to purchase.

Also, unless you don't have the rulebook already (either in the big format or little) then I wouldn't worry about purchasing this. Even then i'd be inclined to look around on ebay for any small copies of the book.

8th edition has been around for some time now so i imagine that 9th edition is in the works or will be soon so you probably will only get a year or two of use out of it.

Yea I decided against it..I do have the small version of the rulebook and got rid of the BRB cause it was a pain to carry to the games with me..I figure the less I have to carry with me the better off I am, I take my ipad with me because its lighter and smaller..I did get the WOC download and the Vampire Counts download cause I figure any FAQ updates would download directly, and I wouldn't keep having to print out the new updates..Too bad GW likes to charge full price for digital downloads, I do prefer hardcopy books for some reason, but I'm slowly coming over to the dark side of digital downloads

its completely ridiculous that gw charge the same price for a digital version as a hard copy version. IMO the digital version should come free with any hard copy or should be cheaper if purchased as a stand alone.

Knowing how GW is doing business, any new book (digital or not) will have to be bought again.
Digital versions being the same price as a printed one i would advise against it since i consider that to be a big rip-off.

Furthermore, even though i love the models, the game, etc. I would encourage buying from independent webshop retailers. Its usually sold at 10-20% discount compared to GW standard price.
Especially since GW's new policy of NOT having any stocking in their own shops. They only have some core and some topsellers for sale and all the rest needs to be ordered from the webshop.... at the same price.
So you order something (shippingfree) from a webshop, need to wait a week and u pay the same amount as you would in the shop itself, i find that to be utterly client-unfriendly and outright unacceptable.

I bought 90% of my 5000+ army through online independent retailers (GW still makes a profit on it) and ebaylike websites that sell used stuff. definately spent less than 60% compared to GW prices. which is clearly 400 euros less.... if not more.

IMO GW is overpricing thanks to shareholder profit-hungriness, combine it with the GW-policy of being aimed at pulling in new gamers/hobbyists. They care nothing for people already in the hobby.
Shareholders want big profit margins and that skyrockets prices and makes for consumer-unfriendly policy.

I only buy the larger GW models from Ebay ...Mortis Engine..Corpse Cart etc...90% of my foot troops are Mantic undead.. and I also buy the GW special characters from Ebay (Kemmler,Krell etc)...Mantics undead are cooler looking and you get more in the box for the money...I have about 150 skeletons, 140 or so zombies and about 60-80 ghouls, and 20 Black nights all from mantic.. plus a few other necros, and misc. models from reaper bones, and 6 of the Titan Forge crypt horror/flesh horror things.. also check out Shieldwolf Miniatures they have heavy armored skeletons that come with hand weapons and shields , or two handed weapons option, they are a bit taller than the regular skeletons so they make great Grave Guard..(I got 40 of them, they are a paint to put together but worth it in the long run) Overall I probably saved about 500-600 dollars....
