What lord have you chosen

I'am starting a VC army and only have to put the finishing touches I would recommend using a vampire lord as you can customise him in various ways and alter the character to suit your own needs and if your in to back story of your character you have a vampire who can reflect yourself. not trying take away from the other lord choices after all Vlad Von Carstein is a badass I just want to see different opinions on what lords are worth choosing.

I have not seen Vlad used in a list.

I have used Vlad, and he performs well but I think he costs too many points- I can get a better Lord for less.

Admittedly, he wont have the Carstein Ring, but I prefer not to need to use it.

I have not used Count Mannfred yet, so I can't say, but I think that with only a 5+ armor save, and no ward, he is a very... inferior character, which, as I only play at 2000 points, would have to be my general. I prefer a Lord who can dish the pain and take damage and save it.

So my vote is Vampire Lord. I think they can be so much more effective, for less points.

I would have to agree the lord choices are simply far to little and need to be expanded the heroes could do with more variety. Hopefully the expansion in January will be full of new characters.

The recently released army books have certainly been brimming with various special characters, and there's nothing pointing towards our next book being any different. Let's hope they can throw some interesting things into that mix.

I USE Vlad as the model, as a Vamp lord. I guess I misunderstood...

Mannfred is strong, but expensive.
Vlad is not.

Of course I go with a vampire lord most of the time but I could see myself using Vlad and Manfred from time to time but they are too expensive for me to field at the points I usually play.

The only lord I've ever used in a game 2.5k and under is the generic (and highly customizable!) Vampire Lord.

Using Manny would be tempting in larger games.

The only special character I've used recently is Konrad, cuz he's a machine!

i use vlad a fair bit and find him quite a good good all rounder as he is durable,a fair spellcaster and can dish pain while healing his unit he makes a good combo with gg and isabella
in larger games a battle standard bearer with drakenhof banner makes this unit very difficult to kill
vamp lords can be made to fit any role and are a good option if you want your general to do things vlad cant
mannfred on a barded nightmare is more durable than when he is footslogging but hes still too vulnerable even as a dedicated spellcaster imho
