So, I’ve just recently decided to pick up where I left off 15 years ago with my Vampires and was just wondering do the AoS models scale ok for old world and is anyone using them mixed in with older models from fantasy battle?

Yes in the main most people are reporting they scale well, which is great news as a lot of the new AoS models from the various death factions work superbly - and if you're after a great model this one is probably one of the best: https://www.warhammer.com/en-GB/sho...S1laEE_zJLhKNDV_xPiNrA7JoIwfCNc8XZUoRJ9rQUAW9

GW are planning a new boxset for Christmas with this model and some Blood Knights which looks to be a good deal, I'm waiting on the pre orders.

If you do use AoS you will need to source some square bases and some people report certain models have to be ranked in a certain way, but in the main generally positive reports.

If you have an idea of your theme/concept, I'm sure we'll be able to suggest certain models that will work well (y)

I’ve used quite a few AoS models so know all to well the pain of getting square bases as I built a skaven army last year pretty much from AoS models.

I had a plan years ago that I’d like to try and do now but it’s if it’s a viable option now. I had made a unit of skeletons up combining empire state troops and the old 8th edition skeletons so I’m hoping that the scale of the newer stuff will let me do that now.

This is what I did previously

AoS miniatures are overall larger than those that came before but it'll depend on which older models you're thinking about using.

I'm afraid I don't really know. The empire soldiers are still being sold for Old World so that's easy but the 7th edition skeletons are not. The heads from the older Tomb Kings are much bigger and the AoS Soulblight skeletons have different proportions but smaller heads (or more realistic ones, rather) so they might still work.

That’s what I was looking at yesterday I’ve got a few nighthaunt models and those skeletal structure look like they would work so I’m guessing that the actual skeleton models should be ok

moden aos skeletons are larger than 7e skittles, but the proportiins are such that their hands & skulls are still smaller than old tomb kings skeletons.

This conversion w empire state troops should still work, but would be a bit more difficult due to the weapon & shield arms maybe not all being separate bits? Not sure, I haven't seen the most recent recut sprue, but uou might have some trouble separating out some of the hands, weapons, & shields to transplant over. Should still be do-able regardless, and will look better than the same conversion but w tomb king skeletond, but just a bit trickier than with the old 7e vamp count skittles.

Looking at the comments and your conversions, I suspect, that with the AoS skellies being better proportioned that you can make this work Tall , if you don't mind doing some slicing (e.g. on some of the arms). If you use a decent plastic glue to melt and bond back together they should hold well (y)
