What unit would you add to the VC army book?

I want the unhidden Zombie Dragon rare choice back from the 6th ed (optional Necromancer list, I believe it was) book. Like the model, decent stats, but damned if I want my Lord on that big bullseye.

A new unit for the vampires you say?
Hmm..

Something to do with frost wolves was also my first reaction.
An idea I always liked, and what I am planning on building myself, is a flesh golem/undead constructy thingy.
Basically, think Pudge from Dota (or at least the undead abomination from WC III). One can easily theme it
to any climate (ice creature or swamp thing etc.) he would kind of be like a slow varghulf(like) tank.
I was thinking of making this as a champion for crypt horrors and then converting an empire engineer into
my Dr. Frankenstein :zombie:

But me and my friends have had considerable discussions on the dwarves and what we would like to see in their army. We were discussing what the dwarves will need to make a viable non-shooting army, thus more mobile. And this is what we came up with:(your friend might like them)
- Dwarves riding bears:
basically an ironbreaker/hammerer riding a bear. It would be slow monstrous cav (M6?)
But heavily armoured and packing a punch.
- Dwarves on mountain goats!
Sounds silly, but hear me out. They would basically be rangers riding mountain goats (imagine big ram with massive curly horns). This would be their 'fast cav' so also make them M6, but give them the fast cav rule, and as they are rangers, they can have great weapons and crossbows... could be nice.
- And then add a master rune: Something like the Master rune of the wrathful or scout or something or some such.
Basically it provides all warriors, longbeards and rangers the vanguard move. Closing the distance and making your army that much more mobile. Fluff would be that only certain impetuous dwarves are allowed this rune. And then they spur the army onwards as quickly as possible to the enemy. Or something like that

Sorry, went kind off of on a tangent there. Anyway, hope it helps.

I always thought human units could work within the VC army because there are always peole willing to serve them but give them some the unbreakable rule on the basis that they are more afraid of displeasing their vampire master than they are of dying by the enemies hand. but not heavy hitting infantry just your bog standard empire soldier with spear or crossbows or milita, especially since the von carsteins and sylvania is within the realm of the empire.

Or to stick with the undead theme perhaps a war machine or something since hard hitting monster units like the crypt horrors and varshiests have been introduced in the latest edition

A catapult that flings the dead bodies of your enemies back at them that can be shot into a combat involving core troops only (since it makes sense that you would need to kill something before being able to fire it)

Would cause panic tests and whatever else.

Sounds a little much like the Screaming Skull Catapult, Noobafrass.
Thanks for all the ideas guys, I have read through them all and thought about them all carefully. ^^

The problem that I see with our undead operating any kind of mechanism of a crossbow or warmachine, is that that requires at least a little skill and/or dexterity of fingers. Because of this the only undead really suitable for such a task are the vampires, and are they really going to operate a machine?

Hmm, ghouls? Really? I think you need at least a degree of intelligence to run something and have you seen those guys' faces?

Bear in mind the Snotlings run their Pump Wagon. I'm sure a Snotling turd is bigger than it's own brain.

going with the war machine here.
how about a sort of brain washed human crew or it could be a flesh golem shaped as a catpult.
and make it raise the bodies of those it kills.
say you fire it a infantry and it kills 6 you could then roll 6 dice and on a 5+ the zombies are placed at the front of the unit and a strength 2 hit per new zombie is dealt to the unit.
you could also add an upgrade so skeletons are raised instead.
and it shall be called the....
i can't think of a name but it would be something cool.

My idea for werewolves would be a light monstrous infantry:

M:7 ws:4 bs:0 s:4 t:4 w:2 I:4 a:3 ld:5
Frenzy, regen (6+), undead, swiftstride, slavering charge
Pts: 28 per model

Honestly though I always like the idea of human troops who chose to serve the vampire in life rather than death. Take empire state troops with -1 to ld and -2 points (no synergy for war priests and such) and no detachments.

Or I would make ghouls skirmishing.

Definitely Vampiric Infantry. Maybe even five plastic boxed kits (one can dream) for Blood Dragons, von Carsteins, Lahmians, Strigoi, and Necrarch units.

von Carsteins are just "basic" and the unit is a level 1 wizard, Blood Dragons are more combat and no magic, Lahmians make you hit yourself and have ASF, Strigoi have a zillion attacks, Necrarchs are a weak unit in combat but count as a Level 3 wizard and get better spells the more of them there are, like that Tzeentch unit.

This sounds like demons of chaos to me.

Hmmm Liches.

Necromancers who have moved beyond death and now command the cold of the grave.

Unit size- 3+

Points per model- 25

So WS:3 BS:4 S:3 T:4 W:2 I:2 A:1 Ld:8

Undead; The Icy Wind of Death, Skirmish

Icy Wind of Death- 18" range, S4 D3 shots each. Ignore penalities for moving and shooting, long range, and multiple shots.

A unit that takes one or more unsaved wound from the Icy Wind of Death must half it's'movement next round.

Don't know if this has been suggested (didn't read through all posts) but some sort of zombie infection upgrade or spell?

Got to give it to the guy, he has hit the nail on the head.
Elite Vampire Infantry.

I would love to have these and I hope GW makes them in the future even as just a cash grab.
Think of the spare bits!
Strength 4, toughness 4 infantry with special traits, armour upgrade options, weapon choices, fast moving in all regards, terror causing.
Probs give them all a 5+ dodge save as a built in ward of sorts and cost 20 points each.
I would pay it.
