Okay, so the current VC army list is looking somewhat like...
Lords:
Mannfred von Carstein* (the elder)
Vlad von Carstein*
Vampire Count*
Master Necromancer
Heroes:
Mannfred the younger
Isabella von Carstein
Konrad von Carstein*
Vampire*
Necromancer
Wight King
Core:
Zombies (The only type of model that can be raised fresh in new units)
Skeletons*
Ghouls* (Ranked up infantry)
Corpse Cart* (Don't count for minimum choices)
Dire Wolves* (Don't count for minimum choices, but better than they used to be)
Bat Swarms (Don't count for minimum choices, but better than they used to be)
Special:
Grave Guard*
Black Knights (ethereal movement!)
Fell Bats
Spirit Hosts (Plus the product of a new spell)
Rare:
Wraiths (+ up to 3 Banshees)
Knights of Blood Keep*
Black Coach
Varghulf*
...so what will people be buying? Models with a * are going to be new or replaced with new models, as far as we know.
Myself, I'm happy sticking with my current Vampires, the Lahmian Queen and my current Mannfred von Carstein model (Probably use it to represent the younger, non-Chaos Lord version). If there were a new Necromancer kit, I'd certainly buy that, but it looks like it won't be happening in the first wave, if at all. I'll probably buy Konrad von Carstein, he seems cool, although as a mere Hero choice is seems very wrong.
As far as troops go- I won't be replacing any of my current models. I may buy a new box of Skeletons, it's a shame that current plastic sets only contain parts for one command group, as otherwise I'd use the box to make new command groups for all my current Skellies.
Ghouls and Dire Wolves look awful, GW have lost my money there.
Grave Guard look great, so I'll definitely have some of them. Corpse Cart sounds weird and I'll probably buy it as it looks great- but I said that about the High Elf Lion Chariot, and I haven't bought one yet.
If I see any Wraiths on eBay I might pick up a few, but I'm not going to pay GW prices. Nor will I bother with the KoBK, at £40 for 5 I can't justify that, especially when I dislike their look. The Varghulf might get a look in, I'll have to see its rules first however.
So, all this new stuff, and I'll be getting:
Army Book (£12)
Konrad (£10?)
Corpse Cart (£15?)
Grave Guard (£25 for 20?)
Varghulf (Sensible price would be £12, but I'll expect it to be £18)
So all in all GW will be getting £80 or less from me with their fancy new release. Not bad I guess, but I am buying a lot of the stuff that will be vastly overpriced... in fact most of it will be, since I'm ignoring most of the reasonable but ugly troops! Oh well...
