Okay, so the current VC army list is looking somewhat like...

Lords:
Mannfred von Carstein* (the elder)
Vlad von Carstein*
Vampire Count*
Master Necromancer

Heroes:
Mannfred the younger
Isabella von Carstein
Konrad von Carstein*
Vampire*
Necromancer
Wight King

Core:
Zombies (The only type of model that can be raised fresh in new units)
Skeletons*
Ghouls* (Ranked up infantry)
Corpse Cart* (Don't count for minimum choices)
Dire Wolves* (Don't count for minimum choices, but better than they used to be)
Bat Swarms (Don't count for minimum choices, but better than they used to be)

Special:
Grave Guard*
Black Knights (ethereal movement!)
Fell Bats
Spirit Hosts (Plus the product of a new spell)

Rare:
Wraiths (+ up to 3 Banshees)
Knights of Blood Keep*
Black Coach
Varghulf*

...so what will people be buying? Models with a * are going to be new or replaced with new models, as far as we know.

Myself, I'm happy sticking with my current Vampires, the Lahmian Queen and my current Mannfred von Carstein model (Probably use it to represent the younger, non-Chaos Lord version). If there were a new Necromancer kit, I'd certainly buy that, but it looks like it won't be happening in the first wave, if at all. I'll probably buy Konrad von Carstein, he seems cool, although as a mere Hero choice is seems very wrong.

As far as troops go- I won't be replacing any of my current models. I may buy a new box of Skeletons, it's a shame that current plastic sets only contain parts for one command group, as otherwise I'd use the box to make new command groups for all my current Skellies.

Ghouls and Dire Wolves look awful, GW have lost my money there.

Grave Guard look great, so I'll definitely have some of them. Corpse Cart sounds weird and I'll probably buy it as it looks great- but I said that about the High Elf Lion Chariot, and I haven't bought one yet.

If I see any Wraiths on eBay I might pick up a few, but I'm not going to pay GW prices. Nor will I bother with the KoBK, at £40 for 5 I can't justify that, especially when I dislike their look. The Varghulf might get a look in, I'll have to see its rules first however.

So, all this new stuff, and I'll be getting:
Army Book (£12)
Konrad (£10?)
Corpse Cart (£15?)
Grave Guard (£25 for 20?)
Varghulf (Sensible price would be £12, but I'll expect it to be £18)

So all in all GW will be getting £80 or less from me with their fancy new release. Not bad I guess, but I am buying a lot of the stuff that will be vastly overpriced... in fact most of it will be, since I'm ignoring most of the reasonable but ugly troops! Oh well...

I'll be buying the army book I think, though it will only be for inspiration and background since I don't live in the hope of finishing an army and getting to play.

Of the models, I will definitely buy a few skellies, grave guards and at least one corpse cart to play with. I will also buy Vlad, Konrad and Mannfred, although the two last not right away. At some point, I will probably also try out a Varghulf and some ghouls.

I'd really love a necromancer kit though...

~Mortis

There will be a Lord-level Necromancer choice (Can you imagine an army with only one Lord choice?!) from what I'v heard, although it may not have high magic levels... Necromancers are going to have some weird TK-esque magic system. There's also the possibility that you may not be able to have the Master Necromancer as your general...

I'll be buying 60 skeletons, 30 grave guard (if they come in boxes of 10) a varghulf, 5 knights of the blood keep, a corpse cart or two, and the heroes. Probably a dragon too. Figure it'll run around 300 or so...

I already have 120 skele-zombies and 10 ghouls, 20 Black knights, 20 wolves, 9 bats, and some swarms of both sorts and a couple of Banshees. I also have a whole bunch of WYSIWYG Vampires and Necromancers and a couple of Wraiths and Wights.

I'll get Grave Guard if they make sense, and Corpse Cart(s) too.

I will probably buy the minimum necessary to coonvert to an effective army. I'd rather look at additional armies.

All to be converted with DE miniatures.

i will get whatever my army is lacking in, but it is not going to be alot as i am going to start buying some skaven models, and i have other nerdy things to do,

To be honest I'm not entirely fond of Ghouls. The spiky things... I think my conversion carreer will start in March 2008. :P

At the moment I have to say I can't really see all guys very clear, but the models I really like is Mannfred, KotBK and Grave Guard. So I might just get them.

First of all: Grave guard (I´m so stupid that I converted 30 DE into GG with halberd just for using them as non-halberd...) and a varghulf (I need a fast monster rocking the flanks)

Next: a box of skellies (if they are 20 in the box) or 3 (if they are ten)

Then I will probably take wraiths and KotBK

I will convert my vampires out from HE, empire and (as soon as they are released) DE plastic character boxes.

And I´m thinking of convwerting corpse carts into a more gothic one (literally, like a mobile cathedral, but I have to think deeply about the project, drawings, schemes and all that engineering)

There wont be any Master Necromancer. Dire Wolves won't get better (but cheaper).

I'll buy Vlad and mounted Mannfred, and perhaps Konrad. Unfortunately you never want to use two hand weapons in a WYSIWYG tournament (unless you use him as Konrad), so Konrad isn't top priority. Too bad he got the extra hand weapon, as I love the model.

I own 85 metal Grave Guards, 25 of them already converted with great weapons (AoS Drakenhof Guards) and eagerly waiting in their box, so no new GG's for me unfortunately (as I love the new models).

I have around 100 Skellies so no new Skellies unfortunately (as I love the new models).

I loathe the bone piercings of the new Ghouls, so no thanks. I'll do with the 30 I already have, unless I want to do a Ghoul-themed list in the future (might very well happen).

Love the Knights of the Blood Keep, give me five of those.

I'll buy three Wraiths (to reach four with a Banshee for a magic US 5 to get flank and rear bonuses).

Sign me up for two Varghulfs, love the model and the rules, I'd like to make a list with Varghulfs filling up both rare slots at some point.

Two Corpse Carts to begin with, very good support for an infantry list and I adore the model.

I already own two Black Coaches, so I'm sated there.

To sum it up:
Army Book of course
Vlad
Mounted Mannfred
Konrad
2 Corpse Carts
5 Blood Knights
3 Wraiths
2 Varghulfs

A nice beginning.

If GW comes to their senses and make new models for Black Knights, Fell Bats, Spirit Hosts and Zombies, I'll buy them too.

Just arm your Vampire with a magic weapon as well, no-one can complain if you explain that one sword is his hand weapon and the other is the Sword of Might (or whatever). That's exactly what I do with my Lahmian Vampire Lady who swings two swords around, and no-one's even batted an eyelid. Only problem is you'd have to reveal that he's got a magic weapon to retain wysiwyg-ness, but that shouldn't be a problem...

A good idea, if not for the fact that on foot you'd probably prefer a great weapon over a magic hand weapon. And in the new army book, there's a certain drawback if you chose two hand weapons.

I am not seeing much to excite me to getting maany new minis. I have several of the old Nightmare Legion sets that I use as GG, and a current GG unit, enough skeletons and zombies to be going on with, the same with ghouls, dire wolves and BKs, 2 coaches, and a custom job that will pass as a bone cart with a little further conversion. The same with most of the current offerings.

I will wait and see on the Knights of Blood Keep and Varghulf.

So so far, the army book for me.

I'll take the following:
Army Book, du
Vlad :)
Isabella (or just the new armoured lahmian)
Mounted/on foot Mannfred (maybe)
I don't even know what Konrad looks like! but i'll buy him anyway
60-80 Skeletons (as I don't have any!!!!!)
1 Corpse Cart and then I'll convert another (hope its not 0-1 choice!)
10 Blood Knights, at least
far too many Wraiths with the full amount of banshees
3 Varghulfs (maybe, If I like the rules enough)
50-60 grave guard
And probably a few more fell bats (only have 2! and they have zombies riding them!)
Its gonna take me years to buy and paint this stuff!

I already have a smallish force:
8 Black Knights
1 Necrarch with a dragon (Zacarius the ever-living chap)
3 blood Dragons
1 Black Coach
10 classic (gobbo rider) dire wolves
I actually lost count of my zombies, something over 200 anyway,
so theres still room for more
10 crossbow men (Von Carstein army list) from the back of the book lists

I think thats it, although I'm "slightly" bad at remembering these things. I'd check, but they're at home and I'm not

There was talk a while ago about a PLAGUE CART too,
Is that real, or did someone screw up when they ment Corpse Cart?
Well, whatever happens I'm gonna make me one of them too!!!!1

I intend to go down on the 8th (oh-er!):

Army book,
2-3 boxes of skellies,
2 boxes of Grave guard,
a box of dire wolves possibly.

That's about it i think. I may even wait for the battalion if it's good.

I intend to buy the following:

Army Book
2 Boxes of old Skellies
2 Boxes of Zombies
A couple of Ghoul Blisters
GG old blisters
2/3 New Wraiths
Old Dire Wolves

I do not like the new Dire Wolves, Grave Guard and Ghouls. Which means I will try and get all the older versions of them as quickly as I can.

l'll follow my routine, the army book.

l'll read it and devour every piece of text and picture, then after l feel confident l've learnt what l can, l then will make the decision.

Normally l'll get one of the grand models just to add to my collection, then l'll start planning the army around what l want.
