Thanks Nikostratus!

The fire tutorial was the only serious one I have found, though this guy uses many vallejo colours but most of the times you can distinguish which GW colours you could use instead. As for the rust you can found the technique on GW site on

painting rust

I plan to paint my varghulf next and I was thinking to use the colour that I have used for the face of the necromancer on the cart. For the face I have used the technique that was on one of the invocations about painting the vampire skin and I really liked the result. Since, varghulf fluffwise is a vampire I would like to give him a paled skin colour.

What do you think?

I've seen a couple of pale/albino Varghulfs and I they have all been good. Go for it I say, the skin on your Necro looks great so it should be a winner. Looking forward to seeing it

The Corpse Cart isvery nice. The only complaint I would have is that the flames are around the wrong way and should be trailing out the back to give a sense of movement.

I have already drybrushed the fur with fortress grey, and I have done the first stage for the skin and it seems very nice. Soon, I will finish the whole model and upload some photos.:)

I am glad you like it too! As for the flames I think I have assembled the model as it is in the photo out of the box so I don't see a mistake

the flames match the way the robes on the necro are going. Could either be wind or magic making them flow that way. I cant imagine corpse carts moving fast enough to make robes/flames flow dynamically backwards anyway.

If you look at quite a lot of the new vampire models the wind is blowing from behind them, the GG robes blow forwards so do the ribbon-y bits on the skelly spears and the skelly banner blows forwards so the flames are fine,

Nice work on the corpse cart I really like the necro's rusty blade.

Rusty blades were easy to be made afterall, though it was my first try!
Thanks for the compliment xD

Here are some pics from my WIP Varghulf! Enjoy...

As predicted, its looking awesome xD The skin has more of a purple tint than the necro though. Did you do it differently? Anways good work

Nikostratus this was the 1st stage of skin. Take a look at it's final stage, I think it is even more pure evil awsomeness :clown:

The wings have a darker colour so that the model is not boring!

Sometimes it's inevitable...that's why before I start a project I try to have a clear image in my mind of how I want it to be, and then I search the how to do it. This way I minimize the chances to have a failure

Good plan witchking alot of times we try out experiments on figures of lesser important. If it was me I would take a old model dire wolf off a goblin rider or something. And try your idea out on it to refine whats in your mind. Again that is just a tip of what we do.

But yes I fully agree its best to have a clear image of what your after before starting.

My Varghulf has gone alive and kicking a***

Enjoy!!!

I plan to paint the 2nd Varghulf I own....would you paint it the same as the 1st? or would you try something different? I am asking that because I as you can see in my plog I try to have a purple theme in my army.

Depends, does it have a different pose or anything? If its the same varghulf model it needs to be painted somewhat different.

I really like the skin, so maybe a different fur on the second? However I would have no problem with two painted exactly the same as its so good. You could always base them slighlty differantly to help differentiate. Nice work

Making the fur different is an idea, though the different basing sounds very nice too.

damn witchking that is looking great, I would personally paint them the same, love albino's but would add something to the base to distinguish them apart from each other.

I really liked the result too, so that's why I can't resist painting it the same afterall.

your varghulf looks really great. some nice work on it. your corps cart has a proper corpse look to it with the colours you have used.

Thank Goggalor! For the corpse cart I have used mostly the colours I have used for my zombies since I didn't want them to look different :)
