Hi again its your old pal Silar, i was looking at the Empire Greatswords models and i relised that i like them much more than the normal Grave Guard so i was wondering would humans willingly serve a vampire? ( so i can usethe Greatswords in my army) or would it be just weird to see humans running around with undead.

your replies and comments are appreciated

Hello, and the answer to your question is yes. humans do serve Vampires, they protected Vlad's pavillon during the war against the empire while he zzz. As for gaming I guess you can use Great swords as your GG, whatever makes you happy, thats what warhammer is all about.

If you're willing to spend the Cash for Goldswords....then by all means.

Lahmians seduced, coerced, and dazzled humans and other sentient races into submission many, many times.
Blood Dragons scared the sh*t out of them, awed them, and could take the more martial minded under their wing.
Necrarch would simply spell them, and say, "I own your soul."
Strigoi might have the harder time of getting human dominance....I'm at a loss, actually. Offer food?
Von Carsteins are the 'Silver Tongued'. Offer promises, get em killed in a fight, don't have to fulfill promises.

So yes, Vampires can use humans. A lot of humans. Dead or alive even.

Didnt the Strigoi rule humans for a while?
Then theres the Black Prince in the army book who is a Strigoi type who rules humans and is looking for a human wife.

That would be funny " You may now bloodkiss the bride!"

You can always give greatswords skeleton heads with the greatsword hats on top...

Hehe, a grinning skull with one of those lopsided hats. such a funny/creepy image. Then paint them in the most garish bright empire colours you can find, except the bones and armour, which would be heaps rusty.

Pretty much the entire population of Sylvania consider the von Carstein bloodline to be their rightful rulers and protectors. So, yes, humans could and have willingly served Vampires. An entire province of humans, in fact.

Even in Dracula, the count had human servants. They just knew to stay the hell away at night. Its just a shame including them in the VCs army list would be waaaaay too good xD we could use missile troops.

Getting a bit off topic now, but the Army of Sylvania during the Storm of Chaos campaign used skeleton crossbowmen. I used to love raising a great long line of crossbowmen in front of something and shooting off a volley right into it's face - it was practically a raising spell and a magic missile in one.

Please don't write in capitals, it is like shouting. Also if you are going to post try and elaborate on your post. That one line might not explain much to those who don't have knowledge of Dogs of War.

Anyway, in nutshell, yes humans will willingly serve vampires. There are various reasons but the mains would be:

  • They don't know any better. As with Sylvania the peasants there don't know any better having lived under Carstein rule for many years, plus the fact that some of the Carsteins treat them better than human lords, well why fight a good thing?
  • Fear - A creature hundreds of years old who is a lot more powerful than you generally get what he wants
  • Seduction - Most vampires have an irresistible aura to humans. The vampire can easily glamour or seduce them into doing their bidding.
  • Greed - Vampires can having something humans want. Normally this would be the chance of immortality, though in some instances it might be other things, knowledge for example.

Humans serving vampires? Oh, they're positively dying to do so.

Like the Don says, the main reasons are personal reasons, either through deception, fear or material gain or safety for their family or tribe.

I actually do the same thing, my army has alot more human elements in it then most human armies.

I remember seeing a thread on the old board in which some guy had crafted masks over his Greatswords and used them as GG. Thats a possibility, but if your not handy with the green stuff then I'd forget about it.
