I saw a single skeleton take out 2 entire armies once.

At my old local gaming club an undead player (it was back before VC's had come out) was setting up against a dwarf player. The board was quite small (about 4' x 4' I think) and there wasn't a massive amount of room for the guys to set up in. The game was just about to start, the dwarf player had the first turn and the undead player went to sit down - straight onto the raised spear of one of his skeleton warriors that had been left on the seat. His shriek was quite impressive but the site of him kicking the legs from under the table as he jumped up - and the two armies crashing all over the floor was quite funny at the time.

Back in 4th edition when Vampires were just brutal with S7 and T6. Gave my vampire the Hydra Blade (each successful wound caused an additional D6 attacks) and Carstein Ring( auto came back to life within 6 inches, with full wounds / equipment etc).

It was in a local gaming store, and it was one of those battles where loads of people play, just using one unit, or in my case character.

The vampire slaughtered a variety of enemy units and troops (HE / WE / Dwarves....the list goes on, it was good vs evil), they finally killed him and he popped back to life to their dismay using the Carstein Ring.

The vampire they carried on his rampage and got himself killed again (after slaughtering many more than his points worth), but back then the magic phase was the one where random cards were dealt each phase. Most cards were power cards to power spells, but some had special effects. One card allowed any caster to be resurrected with one wound on a D6 roll (think it was 4+), and yep the vampire popped back up a second time :vampire3:

He survived to the last few turns of the battle (thinking back on it, it was longer than 6 turns, most likely due to the number of models on the board), where he faced off against a enemy unit 30 strong (think it was Dwarves) plus their Dwarf Lord. He killed loads again and finally got killed...again....

...but the funny thing was, the ressurection magic card, once used went back into the pack and guess what I had again been dealt in the previous magic phase :devil2:

Oh yes! The vampire popped back again and finished off the unit (one of those turns, he caused 20 wounds with the Hydra Blade.....soooooo broken).

The vamp was still standing at the end of the game xD

dont have a crowning acheivement but I did roll overwhelming power and killed my general to raise some zombies:zombie: and still managed to win in VC and TK vs Bretonia and Empire.

When the first vampire counts book came out (5th edition) I had a Blood Dragon vampire lord wandering alone. He took a charge from a Stegadon and finished it off on the 1st round of combat. The S7 and the amount of attacks available with rerolls was insane. I remember I had the killing blow with D3 wounds multiplier too.

This was the first time my friend fielded his brand new Stegadon and he was pretty upset about the power-level. xD

A Skaven with sling taking the last wound from a chaos general. It was two or three editions ago I believe but I remember it well. I rolled horrible throughout the battle so when sixes came up twice, even having to roll a 7+ actually for a Bs to hit, and the save came up 1 we both just stood there laughing. It was ridiculous and I was happy the guy also had a good sense of humor about it as it was a crazy expensive tzeentch sorcerer lord on a disc.

I also recall an insane plague spell cast with my grey seer that killed, and I kid you not, over three-quarters of an empire army. It just kept jumping from unit to unit(also killing some of my own in the end but nothing bothersome) and the poor guy just failed at his Toughness tests. It was a massacre!

I also fondly recall a game not so long ago where my warlock engineers' doom rocket killed every single Orc under its template. It was cool enough seeing it land right in the middle of his army where I placed it, even cooler when it killed all of them and caused some panic tests that send a lot of them fleeing too.

And those are just my Skaven stories...though they are the craziest ones definitely!

So, this isn't an 'unbelievable luck' story or anything like that, just probably the moment I'm most proud of in my gaming career:

I was playing a 1500 point game against High Elves, and my opponent was entirely new to the game of Warhammer. He'd taken a list full of small units (his largest block was a unit of 14 Seaguard accompanied by a Noble general). So, he got first turn and moved everything up, being very aggressive on my right flank. I noticed that he'd left his Phoenix Guard exactly 16" away from my Grave Guard on the right, so I seized the opportunity and march-Vanhels'd my way into a first-turn charge. In combat, both sides fluffed their attacks a bit, but I stupidly forgot that he was in range of a Dwarven Brewhouse, and he easily passed his Stubborn LD test. Next turn, he flanks me with his Battle-Banner BSB and Swordmaster retinue, wiping out the GG in one round of combat (although my WK did Killing Blow the BSB in a challenge). Desperate to salvage the situation, I charged in at the Swordmasters with my 8 Black Knights, who proceeded to whiff epically and kill something like 3 guys. They were slaughtered, having only one man remaining once the dust settled. That single heroic soldier probably saved the game for me, as he survived the next round of combat too, giving me valuable time to regroup my forces.

So in short, I had lost half of my army by the top of turn 3, lost control of the entire right half of the battlefield, and was left with only my Hybrid Vamp Lord, his 20 Ghouls, and 14 Skeletons (they had taken some damage earlier in the battle).

For the rest of the game, I played the most tactically brilliant game of Warhammer I've ever seen. My Vampire's bunker aligned itself in a baiting move, allowing him to flank me with his Eagle and frontally assault with a Lion Chariot. Then, I revealed to my opponent that my Lord had the Sword of Might and Infinite Hatred, giving him 4 re-rollable S6 attacks. The Vampire killed the Chariot by himself, and the Ghouls poisoned the Eagle enough to make it run away. The Skeletons finally broke a unit of Silver Helms in combat and ran them off the board. Through clever use of VHD and bolstering my troops with Summon Undead Horde, I proceeded to wipe out my opponent's Seaguard and General, Mage, second Eagle, Phoenix Guard, Swordmasters, and building-encamped Archer unit. I raised Zombie road blocks in clutch places, keeping my opponent's Dragon Princes away from the rear of my Ghoul bunker. In the final turn of the game, my Skeletons heroically threw themselves in front of the Dragon Princes, keeping them from assaulting my General's building.

When the dust settled, I was left with a Vampire Lord and five Ghouls, and my opponent had five Dragon Princes plus a depleted unit of Archers. From the jaws of defeat, I clawed back a draw.

So no, it wasn't even a victory. But I was proud of the way I played, extricating myself from a dire situation indeed and overcoming the complete loss of the right half of my army by turn 2. I was also very impressed with my opponent, who played very solidly for a first-timer. :)

In the last game i played my varghulf charged a unit of 9 Bretonnia knights with a BSB paladin they failed the terror check twice then ran of the board. While some how passing his leadership to reroute to his Damsel that was alone for some reason. Broke her with terror to and ran here down. Sadly after making everyone in terror he was charged by a 16 Men at arms squad tying him up for the rest of the game. Until he was put down by there halberds.:grave:

Wasn't me playing, but my friends Orc Shaman IF the Foot of Gork and had it continue 7 times in a row killing an adverage of 10-12 moddles a turn. He was facing Warriors of chaos (all chaos warrior and knight list) His opponent had 7 moddles left split between 3 different units after the dust settled. It was the first turn of the game.....

Blood thirster charged a small unit of ghouls. Everybody but the ghast died. The ghast manage to sneak through everything and do a single wound. Why was this impressive? Because he had the best assist as next turn my vampire lord with blood knights charged. He challenged, I accepted with my lord. I managed barely enough wounds to kill him, if that ghast hadn't snuck a wound through my lord would have been obliterated.

Not with VC and not my own achievement, and not really an achievment, but funny as hell.

Happend several years ago during the Storm of Chaos campaign. We had a pretty big battle of 10k Points per side,
good forces consisting of 2 Imperial Armys, 1 HE Army and 1 Dwarfen army, The forces of Evil 2 Chaos Armys, 1 Orc Horde and a Skaven Army.

With such a lot of Troops there wasnt much room to maneuvre, the forces of good waited for the enemy to come closer whilst shooting like
crazy, then charged with a long line of Cavalry into the enemy ranks, wich were (thanks to Skaven and orcs) already in a state of disarray.
They totally crushed the already wounded firts line and charged into the second line of the evil troops like one man (imagine the rohan attack in Lotr) still maintaining their formation as one long wall of death.

Well in the heat of battle, unnoticed by 7 Players moving their units while the orc and dwarf player constantly kept yelling at each other, the sneaky rat had moved his warp lightning canon up front. Now, with an evil grin, he aimed at the flank of the long line of cavalry.
Giggling like the mad maniac he was, he fired the thing and, you can imgine what happend, ofcourse it misfired.

The generals of the forces of good imidiatly started to taunt the pathetic rat, but then their laugh froze and horror spread over their faces.

Yes, the warpcanon misfired, and it startet spinning in circles like crazy, finaly coming to halt, it unleashed a big, deadly ST 10 beam of green warp energy, right into the line of cavalry, but not as orginaly intended in one rank, it cut exactly through the middle of most units, right were the bases of the ranks touch, efectivly hitting both ranks of the regiment in most cases.

So, the entire Cavalry of the combined armys of the light got annihilated by one single warp lightning gun shot. Among the dead were 20 silver helms, 10 Dragon Princes and about 60 Imperial Knihts, including several heroes.

That shot was truely epic. And ofcourse the only useful thing that skaven contributed to his allies. For the rest of the game he kept getting his slaves in the way in bad situations, exploding things in even worse situations and finally running away in the worst situations, and in the end the forces of good won. :D

Nothing with VC thought almost every game i play with them my terrorgheist goes FUS RO DAH!(it's his name now:) ) and kills a dragon/stegadon/hell pit abomination/hydra/arachnarok/giant, to then fly on and do moderate to good damge after that, so now he is always an auto-include.
With my TK, my 20 skelie archer unit got charged by a unit of 19 2++(tzeencht+parry+eye of the gods) chosen with full command, frenzy banner and a chaos lord. since he took great weapons on both i stroke first. 19 hits, 17 wounds. But i had just cast the KB spell on them, so the 14 6' i rolled were very effective: i insta killed the lord, and he failed 12 of the 13 saves. And out of the 3 other, non KB wounds, he failed 2 of his saves. that left him with 5 chosen. He then stikes back and kills 11 skeletons, fails combat and gets overrun.
I had just traded 66 points for 864 point unit....:konrad:

I love that warp lightning cannon story. I do so love the skaven.

I feel that the unreliable nature of skaven artillery is one of its biggest advantages- if a warp lightning cannon always fired an S10 beam of death, it would get magic missiled to death on turn one every time. Unreliability lulls the enemy into a false sense of security....

I once played on a team battle with a Skaven player who brought along a WLC. He managed to lay down an enfilading shot on our HE opponent's Spearmen horde, rolled like a 2 for the first artillery dice, and then an 8 for the bounce. I was kind of disappointed because the poor first roll meant that it didn't hit that many guys, but then.......we remembered that you place a small round template at the end of the bounce distance. Needless to say, a huge ball of warp lightning exploded perfectly in the middle of the Spearmen horde, killing half of their number in a single epic shot! Fun stuff. xD

My zombie unit held up a Bloodthirster for the last 3 turns of the game, while wounding it!

Sure they didn't kill it, but wounding it was impressive enough for me!

Skeleton Champion.

Archaon.

'nuff said.

No way, mate. o.o Do tell more.

I thought it was a dream when it happened. The poor Archaon had been wounded once already, and over a period of three turns was slowly killed off by my Skeleton Champion in a challenge. He had the Helm of Command so was WS7, but other than that was buffless. I just kept rolling 6s and my opponent kept rolling 1s.

When Archaon finally hit the dust, the guy was so upset that the GW manager came over, and asked me with a very grave tone what I had been doing to upset this poor WoC player, and that if I was causing trouble the matter would be dealt with seriously. When I explained that my Skeleton had just killed Archaon, he laughed his ass off and then used his managerly powers to "spice up the game" by making the Skeleton pick up all of Archaon's equipment; his armour, crown, sword etc., and also to gain all of the Chaos blessings. xD He never got to use them but was still hilarious to think of my Skeleton Champion as the Everchosen of Chaos. :rofl2:

EDIT: The WoC guy asked for a final rematch between the Champion and Archaon after the game to restore some of his dignity; once Archaon knew he wasn't actually playing a game he killed him round one. Still, hilarious all the same. Nothing I can ever do will beat this accomplishment; I'm tempted to add it to my curriculum vitae.

Once my small zombie unit held up a Giant for 3 turns and killed it. In 7th edition too... I'm sure it was bad dice rolls on the Giants part but I'm still gonna take the credit.

This happened quite recently as a matter of fact. Terrorgheist took out a unit of 4 mournfang cavalry in one turn: they charged it. Stand and shoot scream rolled double sixes, and the unwounded terrorgheist Fusrodah'd them off the table.

All the guy said was "huh. well. that sucks."

Never ever ever will I underestimate the power of the terrorgeist xD
sorry varghulf, you're done :grave:

Vampire lord last model on the table at the end of the game, played a 2000 point game and my army had all been wiped out by the end of turn 3 my lord then goes round challenging every one and no one being able to score a wound on him.

Mine, true story:

I was playing Dwarves, my friend was DE; his first turn, his cold one riders march move and are about 10 inches from my flame cannon. His army line is a straight line, his left (the cold one riders) to closest to me, his right side farther back. My first turn, flame cannon hits the cold one riders, kills 2, causes a panic test, he failed, they run. Unit beside them to the right now have to roll a panic test, they fail, run. The unit to the right of that unit now has to make a panic test, fails, they run. In the end, 11 of his 14 units panicked and were running for their lives after 1 flame cannon shot.

Whenever someone says a flame cannon sucks, I know better...

First time I used a Terrorgheist he oneshot killed a Runelord that was hiding inside a building :D (Kinda lucky, since he wasnt in a unit^^)

My friend who played VC's year ago (two books ago) used to play my friend who played dwarves. the Dwarf player could almost never beat the VC player. They had some epic battles. One day on turn one dwarf he guessed a cannon ball right on the vamp lords head. He failed his look out sir test, did all 3 wounds. That was pretty much game. They decided to reset and play another game lol. silly Blood dragon!
