I looked up Laibach after I read that post of yours, and they're one of the most interesting and fantastic bands I've ever heard. They fit me just perfectly with both their more synthy/electronic songs and the ones with classical music in them. Thank you! =)

It's probably still The Sisters of Mercy. It shouldn't be. The idle buggers haven't released an album in fourteen years and counting, years usually elapse between non-festival gigs and the new songs are, in general, shorter and vaguer and less delightfully literary than the old 'uns.

But damn it all, they still rock. Went to see 'em the last time they were in the UK and the industrial groove machine rolled out like the years hadn't gone by at all. The new songs aren't fit to sit down and deconstruct for hours on end, but you can't half dance to 'em. The old ones have a new lease of life every time the lineup changes, and Andrew Eldritch still has stage presence coming out of his ears.

And they're still not a goth band.

The MISFITS.
All time most favorite band, Danzigs lyrics are awesome, the music was just right for the punk and thrash metal era and they have spawned thousands of imitations.
Everybody has heard Last Caress or Die Die My Darling at least once....

Nope, sorry...

It's a tie between Tiësto and Infected Mushroom. Infected Mushroom has more attitude and generally more powerful and complex music, but Tiësto's remixes of Classical pieces are just awesome (Adagio for Strings, Athena, both great tracks). I also really like his sets because he's got the same taste of Trance as me. And his albums are dang awesome. I've only got 17 albums by Tiësto..

Thats YOUR opinion. I've never heard of your choice before, as I don't listen to trance, the wife does though, but its not for me, seems like you think highly of your opinions....you must be a teenager:rolleyes:

Eh.. It's just that I haven't ever heard of those songs...

I'm completely fine with your choice of music, it's just nothing for me.. ;)

(Everybody should know Tiësto though, he's Trance legend! It's not like I don't Metalicca or Evanescance..)

Nope never heard of them. I do listen to VNV NAtion, Covenant,Massive Attack, and the wife likes Paul Van Dyk, Electric Sky Church and Dj Donald Glaude. Im mostly a fan of Rock n Roll in all its various forms.

Paul Van Dyk is really good too.

Surely your wife must have heard of Tiësto. She must have. He's liken the Beatles of Trance music. Everybody's heard of the Beatles!

So hard to choose, i have to answer metal from finland :D

Finntroll, nightwish, insomnium and all other great bands

I would not put Tiesto as the Beatles of trance... that's just going too far. As a ex-raver from the Canadian scene (my then gf was really into Happy Hardcore, Jungle Trance, stuff like Amoeba Assassin), everyone's heard of Tiesto, but he did not revolutionize the scene. Popular, yes, revolutionary... no. Everyone from every genre has heard of the Beatles. Only people into trance, electronica, rave scene know Tiesto. Not even close to the same scale. Not remotely close. Horrible comparison :P

indeed, its close to a crime if you have never heard of Tiësto....
as for my favorite trance DJ....its probebly Armin van Buuren right now

favorite band overall.....ouch....a lot harder to pick one.....but i simply have to go with Theatres des Vampires

Aye, the revolutionary Trance Djs are the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Deep Dish, but no one's heard of them! :|

Tiësto made Trance close to mainstream, so that's why quite a lot of people know him. And he opened the Olympic Games in Athens!

Glad to be of service. :D

All I have to do now is convince more people to get into my second most favourite band, Meat Beat Manifesto. Not sure how many people here would be into dub.

Sentenced.

Because they've had the two best vocalists in metal/rock. And that every album they did was just amazing. Most of them very different to the last as well.

Although their pinnacle was "North From Here" and "Amok/Love and Death". Nothing beats Taneli Jarva's snarling vocals.

If you're gonna give them a listen, go for anything "Love and Death" and backwards if you're into black/death metal. And "Down" (to a lesser extent).
If you're into slower, lighter stuff, anything from "Frozen" and onwards is good.

Go on :P

Korn - Because when im feeling bad i just put some korn via headset and start beating and kicking my punching bag and i will feel great soon, or if im not alone i just lure my beloved to take a shower with me =)

I'd have to go with Rancid. I bought "And out come the wolves..." shortly after it was released at the age of 16 (wow, 12 years ago) because I thought the cover was cool. Never really listened to punk rock until then. That band/album helped shape me into who I am today. Made me want to learn guitar and bass. Ended up being in numerous bands throughout high school and post high school. Met alot of cool people, my wife included. I guess that band just opened the door to a whole new world for me and honestly changed my life through experiences I went through since then.

MOST favorite band for me would be Judus Priest. The vocals of Rob Halford combined with the guitar rifts of Glen tipton and K.K Downing have such power and vibrancy. Been listening to them for over 20 years now.....:)

Mötley Crüe

All time favourite, no question about that. Their attitide, life and music makes them the most iconic heavy metal band in my opinion.
