I don't know anybody from my big meta that uses the terror. It is not a wise choice. Better to use a Hellsteed.

One of my big pet peeves about this rule in Warhammer. How come my Vampire has to has to have twice the chance of the cannon ball hitting him than that of a Dark Elf General on a dragon (which uses a simple chariot base)? But that's the way it is.

Dark elves are broken IMO and i think you will see that change when their new book comes out.

Which I hope will be soon ... I hate fighting hordes of witch elves with 3 poison attacks each with the flaming banner after he uses his dagger to help blast off 3 spells followed by 6 dice to get an irresistible mindrazor.

So 51 poison attacks hitting on 3+ with str 7 wounding on 2+ nullifying any save of 4+ and HATRED don't forget the HATRED re-rolling misses on 3+ increasing the chance for poison wounds.:mad2::mad2:

And i think the hydra is under point priced too. Especially when the breath weapon is used in combat to generate CR. I love seeing 2 of these every time i play a DE player (not):swear:.

And don't forget the unkillable dread lord that can tie up your combat blender general until hell freezes over. Thank god for scream attacks .

ok ok i have vented and said my piece. Now back to your usually scheduled program lol..

like you Said, pendant is useless against screams, or anything else without a str value for that matter, so could and should be countered.
but they are broken, agreed. like Skaven and other old books. I almost never beat Skaven with my dark elves, but table them with vc's.
if I get the abomb early, if not, HE tables me.
(single abomb chew through 2 hydras 4/5 times when I play)

Really? Even with the Hyrda's breath weapons? And personally, I think that every 7th edition book (not 6th) is op under 8th edition rules. It's why I am concentrating on getting good with armies that will likely be done last. I own Skaven and Dark Elves and as soon as WoC (my favorite army of all) take their nerfing this November, I'll likely switch my main emphasis to the dark elves and skaven. Rumors have it that WoC, Demons and then High elves are next in the queue. That let's me have until 2014 to master my 7th edition Skaven and Dark Elves.

the fiery breath doesn't do sh*it with I2
,hydra dead or low on wounds, unless lucky with regen. and if 1 or more wounds taken earlier, there's no strength behind it either. ABOMB hits first, and if he charges, impact hits,
my hydras always sucks it to abombs, unless I get both in same time.
many more drops assures him too, that abomb faces hydra, or the doomwheel, wich is just as bad.
actually did a bunch of duels, between hydra and abomb, same result

@johnny: aye, lizzies....brother plays those, good thing for me he favours Tomb kings ;)

I still think Lizards is a stronger list than either DE or Skaven, and I am fairly sure they are a 6th ed book.

When I was thinking 6th edition I was thinking Wood Elves and Brets. Both took a hit when 8th edition was released manily to the steadfast rule, and what they did to nerf skirmishers.

So what is actually size of zombie dragon base?
I'm currently converting one, and need to put it on correct base.

You'll get the least flak from your opponents if you use a 100 by 150mm base.

If you aren't using an official GW model that gets supplied with a base (which will be the correct one) or are making it out of other GW models, then you should put it on a 100x150

Ok so what is the actual ruling for the Abyssal Terror and Varghulfs when it comes to base sizes - do they have to be put on 150 x100 bases? If not then where is the written lore that they shouldn't?

I'm looking at all types of monsters that my wife and I possess and there is a myriad of base sizes. Sphinxs come on 110 by 70 bases, vargulf and abyssal terror we know about, the latest giant is on 70 by 55 base, the list goes on...

So what about the standardisation of the game so that its "fair" to all? It does put terrorgheist and new dragon at a massive disadvantage .. cannons cannot miss them unless they misfire or smash it into the ground where they nominated (even that would hurt the monster if it reaches and doesn't misfire first off). With varghulfs as they currently are, your cannon possessing opponent has the possibility of overshooting, not so with the current VC monster base.

Check page 80 in the BRB. That is the only real reference to this issue at all.

The problem is that GW currently sells two zombie dragon models, one with 50x50mm base and one with 100x150mm base. Technically you could just by the old zombie dragon to get advantage from the small base.
