Which is your mount of choice for a Lord? Why do you prefer it?
Well neither seem optimal, but if I had to pick, it would always be the Terrorghiest.
The Zombie Dragon just doesn't feel like good value for the points you pay. It's a horrendously expensive mount, which is then only available on one of the most expensive Lords in the game. And, it just doesn't do much - 5 attacks at WS4, and that's about it (although thunderstomp is nice, when it works). The only good things are:
Swarm of Flies: -1 to hit for enemies is nice. However, it's basically countered by the terrible WS of the Dragon and the fact that it allows far more models to attack the Lord on top.
Pestilential Breath: An interesting breath weapon but, suffers the same flaw of all WH breath weapons, in that it can only be used once per game.
Anyway, I prefer the Terrorghiest because:
- The Lord + Mount will generally be cheaper than the above.
- Whilst the Terrorghiest isn't good in combat, this can be countered to some degree by the SGK on top.
- Unlike the Zombie Dragon, the Terrorghiest + SGK doesn't
need to be in combat to be effective. It essentially has a breath weapon that can be used every turn - and a damn good breath weapon at that (which can be further improved by giving the SGK AoDM).
- It's a giant, undead-bat - what's not to like?
I guess I prefer the Terrorghiest because it gives the Lord new options (more manoeuvrability, better protection than it he simply had wings himself and, most importantly, a scream attack). And, they can be used to cover their weaknesses - the SGK can make up for the Terrorghiest's deficiency in combat (should the need arise), and the Terrorghiest can devastate enemy units without ever entering combat.
The Zombie dragon does very little outside of combat (and not much even then), and VLs are already good in combat. It feels like you're paying an awful lot, for a marginal improvement in combat potential, plus far greater vulnerability to cannons and far more attacks against you in combat.
