Tawg, You want to leave any joins that you want to glue eventually as clean as you can whilst painting and you really want to use plastic glue. Tammya plastic glue is fantastic.

Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs

Ah, naw, I appreciate it. I remember back before when I use to do Warhammer stuff (More 40k, and like 5 years ago) me and my friend had a plastic glue that like, melted the plastic together, it was amazing. But so far I've only bothered finding super glue; Tammya Plastic glue, I assume hobby shops might carry that? I really haven't put much effort into getting things done yet :ghost:

I hate super glue, it always somehow ends up on my fingers and I hate the feeling of it on my fingers. For any plastics I always use plastic glue, I only ever use superglue if gluing finecast or metal.

Oh phsaw; Actually when I started Warhammer, when I was like 13-15 I always asked my friends/parents to do the gluing for the same reason. I have since gotten over that, or perhaps more likely, am far less apt to make a mess/accidentally get any on me xP

OK, well I don't have pictures, but I think I'mma do about the same thing as Sanai. Minimal assembly, and I'll just have to work out exactly what I'm doing about getting glue as I go.. mot to mention I need to acquire a base for this thing still lol. Frak me.

Also in regards to gluing, would it be advised to say, when you go to glue the model together, once you know the joint connection to perhaps scrap paint off if it is covered? I remember in the past I have scored joints of models to provide more surface connection for the adhesive (Though I don't know that ever helped, or was a good idea lol).

I'll try to get some pictures up by.. I dunno maybe tonight if I can, primed. I dunno where the camera went though..

That'll be fine if you don't want to worry to much and enjoy the painting. As long as you can get down to the plastic again and get nice surfaces for the plastic glue you shouldn't have any probs.

Looking forward to seeing your ZD Tawg.:zombie:

I use revell plastic glue, as it comes in a bottle with a thin metal tube extending out of it so you can dispense the glue tiny droplets at a time, though I always keep a thin bit of wire handy to unblock that metal tube.
I also find plastic glue fairly useful for fixing up things like moldlines sometimes, a drop of plastic glue and you can basically smooth any plastic surface with it.

Man, I had so much fun today! LoL, I had to dry fit all the pieces on this thing together before I picked which were going on the model, since I bought it in bits with no instructions and don't really know which 'Muscle Joints' are for the Ghiest or ZD! I picked out what I think are going to be the correct pieces by the time I'm finished, but I kinda eye-balled a bit of it, so I might have to just do a bit of basing magic to get it all to come together on the base :ghost:

On the plus side though, I have the majority of the model pasted in parts I thought would be easiest layers to tackle at once. And I primed the most of it, (Didn't get a few claw/toes or the Pelvis/shoulder parts primed).

The legs are both together, with rocks (Hopping I got the rocky mountain goat pose picked out lol); the body + neck is together, and the little leathery hide furthest back along the bone ridges; Head is in it's components as well as the wings and rib cage, and that's basically everything I think. I'm not putting a rider on him, as well I don't have one. I also had NO idea where those 'Spikes' go on the back of the tail, so I omitted them, since the Terrorghiest doesn't really need them IMO (Spiky bat? Nah).

I primed everything base Bone (Primer on hand, besides works for most things). I was thinking about going with a brown scheme for it's rotten flesh-y parts, maybe a dark red/purple for the muscle tissue, and just plain bone for bone parts (Brown-to bone, white highest parts). Still unsure over all on the scheme though unfortunately, but that is the most promising. Also might include some dark blue/purple looking glow around eyes/mouth or any kinda rotten/maligned area that seems like it might emit light (Never done OSL though :ghost: ). Looks like a very beautiful model though, hope it goes well.

On the other hand, I actually started painted the Spirit host of my Mortis Engine today and made minimal progress on that (Miles ahead of my normal progress xP) and I'm already stoked about that; Hoping the Terrorghiest will inspire me just as much, I really feel like it'll come out looking quite well (Not that I can paint well).

Pictures tonight if at all possible of assembles primed bone (Will be Thursday night for me, after work so kinda late) hopefully that isn't too late to be involved, though I have been doing a fair bit of rambling in here already xP.

EDIT: OH! And I went to a hard-ware store today and managed to pick up plastic cement (Some random brand, in a metal tube; seems ok) and a new hobby exacto knife! (Which I wasted no time putting a score into my knuckle with) I wasn't sure they'd have those things, but quite convenient I'd say, will probably pick up plastic glue from them when I run out now (Closest place by far).

Yeah, the trick is to only cut the zombie dragon bits off the sprue (you can tell which are for the zd because they have numbers next to them on the sprue)
Im only going to find out which joint is the right one once I have the body/legs/kneck all assembled so I can dry fit the shoulder things and wings to figure out which is the right one.

:rofl2: ........aaaaaa classic! Well you certainly are putting your blood, sweat and tears into this project eh.

Great to have you on board Tawg, looking forward to working alongside you both!:zombie:

Good news! Between painting at my friends house yesterday and the trip home, I managed to lose my paint brushes :ghost:

Granted I only have (Had) two brushes I actually use (Yes seriously), and I did have them for the last 7-9 years (long time, but not a lot of use on them xP). Arrg, maybe I'll have left them at his house, but I doubt it since he didn't say he saw them. Maybe it was time for new ones anyways :ghost:

EDIT: Pictures

Main parts, legs/body/wings

A handful of smaller bits that are primed already

Not terribly much, also I think this camera might be awful. Is 7.1 Megapixel a poor rating? I feel like I thought I'd have better pictures than this since I remember having better pictures in the past, but maybe I'm just mistaken due to time lapse :ghost:

So I was working on my Terrorghiest's main 'Under body' section and I didn't really know how much of it should be painted as 'Muscle' type look, or like flesh? And since I didn't have the majority of the pieces to dry fit/check, I was very unsure :ghost:

However I just looked over the 'Show us your ~' for Ghiest/ZD and.. that confirmed that it should mostly be painted as muscle, and the 'Skin' parts are all farther out on the model/yet to be put on.. so it was silly of me to have painted it all the skin tone I wanted to go for

Ah well, at least I know now :pumpkin: Red/Purple guts, in the works currently:

Eh, It's a little bit purple for me at the moment; Also concerned about going into too bright of colours if I make successive highlights into Warlock or Blood Red? Not sure how I'mma proceed.

Also I was toying around with the idea of the Bone being a sort of Red > Black or visa versa (Spines, bone/wing flanges, teeth)? Not sure if that is a good or bad idea though at this point.

Hmmmm..

I had a question about the dragon, and you guys are probably the experts on this subject right now xD
Do you have to use those rocks that the dragon on the GW website stands on, or can you just put him on the base without using them?
I am tempted to buy the kit, but I don't want to use the rocks because it wouldn't fit in my theme.

You could assemble the ZD without the rocks, itd just mean a tiny bit of converting on the wing claws that attach to the rocks.
For the gore Tawg, at the stage you are at I applied a badab black wash, followed by a highlight of undead flesh basecoat (2:1 mix of tallarn flesh and liche purple) then a wash of leviathan purple, followed by gloss varnish to make it look all wet.

The minimum number of rocks that would be modeled onto it is one I believe. You can have it standing on it's two hind legs right on the ground, but one of the wings is positioned to be clutching a rock as a third support point. You'd have to cut that one off and put something else on it, or else pray that you don't knock it around very much, because I could definitely see it being broken off the base.

Eh, I painted it so far wiiitthhh, the foundation red, then I mixed Lich and Gore, and touched a few spots with pure lich. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going for  I think I want.. a red gore colour with like, purple under-tones? So I'm probably gonna go over it with more red (Gore, maybe mixed with blood on very high points?) and perhaps if the purple looks pretty much gone use Leviathan to seep into the lowest points to give it a bit of purple?

I'm thinking about replacing the rock for a tree. It fits my swamp theme better and still remain the stability it supposed to have. If what I hear is true it should be relatively easy to remove the rock from it's claw.

My ZD hasn't any rocks. The wings look fine without the extra claws IMHO.:zombie:

I would like to see how your dragon stands, when he's finished Abyssal.

Finished the body/tail sub assembly last night, and should have the ribs and other body bits done tonight. Will post up pics soon.

Okay, so I ran out of badab black halfway through painting the bone on the ribcages.
I literally cannot paint any of my fantasy stuff until I get more badab black.....
So it looks like the dragon is on hold for a few days until I can buy more badab black.... maybe ill paint some guard this weekend, they dont need badab black much....

Stopped in at the hobby shop today, to get myself some badab black and black spray....
Turns out those are the two things they are out of.
I got some humbrol spray instead, and made a discovery-
The other hobby brands of black spray are more expensive than games workshop! They come in smaller cans and you get less for your money. So I bought the humbol spray to tide me over till I get a big can of GW spray.
