I think the siren should be in the list as a wizard lord.

She would be something of a banshee but with the siren call spell as an ability (and we can remove that spell as it's not really appropriate for a huge unit of rotting pirates to have an irresistible pull) instead of the death wail.

Even though she would be ethereal, perhaps she should be allowed to take talismans and certain magic items? If she can also take Alias and vampire powers, then this covers customization.

Actually I like that idea, of making the Siren the lord-level caster. Our shanty singers work by singing, so it is good fluff that the Siren’s voice would be more potent. There is no reason why she can’t choose items, wraiths when they were characters they could take items. Of course she would need to be limited, no armour etc.

I think if we do it that way, the Siren should not be a rare choice.

I think the Zombie Captain's should gain bonus's like the zombie pirates are getting, you choose one then this gives a greater bonus to a unit or increases there exsisting bonus.

The Cap'n's Watchful Eye:
When under the close scrutiny of the Captain himself, all crew members instinctively double their efforts, then consciously double them again. None would willingly allow themselves to fall short, knowing how close a keel hauling is.
Units joined by a Zombie Captain receive +1 to their Weapon Skill, Ballistic Skill, and Initiative values, and +2 to their Leadership for any test that does not allow them to use the Captain's.

Something along those lines? Or perhaps a more simple doubling of any bonuses offered by the unit's Champion?

I like it.
Depends whether we want the captain to improve them as an all round unit (the first option) or to further specialise the unit (the second option)

Wait, so a unit of zombies- *zombies*- joined by a captain can end up with WS4, depending on the champion? And a similar score for Initiative. And a BS of 3- as good as a living archer. Are these Elven zombies? I think the balance of zombie and pirate is beginning to waver a bit, more in the favour of pirate.

Also, aren't the Infamous Alias' (and the limited "Vampire" Powers, if we use them) going to be enough for the Zombie Captain? Do they need to add such a significant bonus to the units they join? After all, this isn't an official list, and you'd need to get an opponents permission to use it. If I saw home-brew rules like Watchful Eye, I'd have my opponent agree not to use it before agreeing to a game. It doesn't have any background justification and is mechanically unsound.

Also, sorry for the double postr, but I've had an idea for a special character:

"Jolly" Hrethgir

In life, Hrethgir was a Norse raider sworn to the Blood God and renowned for his lack of humour. When Hrethgir plundered a pair of enchanted Warplock pistols from a Skaven slave hulk, he was instantly overjoyed by the killing power of the pistols. He started wading into battle, a pistol in each hand and a maniacal grin across his face. However, the Lord of Skulls was displeased with his champion not only using ranged weapons but magical ones at that. When Morrslieb waxed full and pulled the Blood Tides in, the Brazen God sent a hellish galley crewed by Bloodletters to board Hrethgir's long-ship. The Herald Captain ran Hrethgir through and tossed his pistols into the sea, their Warpstone mechanisms fizzing in the brine. Then it lifted Hrethgir high above it's head and said:
"Keep on smiling, Hrethgir. For you are cursed to sail the seas until the end of days and to walk the earth only to spill blood!" The daemon then threw Hrethgir into the depths. But true death was not to find Jolly Hrethgir, for although the fish and gulls cleaned the flesh from his bones, he was still driven by the joy of battle and the bark of his cursed pistols.

Essentially, a Wight with a brace of pistols that count as a magical attack. Maybe with Killing Blow (because he's a Wight and a good shot.)

You forget 1 critical thing all these zombies are toughness 2 and can't chase anything down, with out these bonus's the army would struggle to beat anything. Never mind it having no cavalry...

Edit: I'd prefer the The Cap'n's Watchful Eye rule to doubleing the bonus's

Inspired by Sanai's comment in the Intended Direction thread, I had the idea for a special character pirate who rides a humanoid giant constructed from the corpses of mutinous crew members. A cruel taskmaster himself, he would use the visage of this monstrosity to discourage any of his remaining crew from making the same mistake. Perhaps he'd be the best use of the Watchful Eye rule, along with Stupidity (representative of the bodies continuing to rebel), Terror, and a random number of attacks similar to a corpse cart.

Keldane, you are insane.

Was there ever any doubt?

Really, though, it's an excuse to glue any irreparably damaged models I can find into one big, semi-humanoid mass and call it a conversion. Maybe give it a head made by gluing together any left over skulls into a larger skull shape. Or maybe leave its chest cavity open for it to shove foes into, where they would be slowly ripped apart by the dozens of limbs that make up the construct's body before being integrated themselves. >_>

Well, if there were doubts about my insanity before, I think I've corrected them now.

Yes, you are definatly insane...but somehow... I like it. Not sure if its fits well into a zombie pirates army. Perhaps it would be good for a necro or necrarch army.

I hope there is room for another character?

Unholy Jack, and the Nightmare of the Deep
Holy Jacob, preacher aboard The Magnificent, once made sure that the Captain's men kept heart on their journeys into the oceans. He would sing his tales of a better day whence the men returned to port, and made sure that they would work hard to ensure that it was as sweet as his tales foretold.

That all changed with the coming of a Norseman's Fleet. As the Norsemen boarded
The Magnificent so too did Luthor Harkon. The ensuing battle lasted for a day, with only the rousing oratory of Holy Jacob urging his men onward. When Luthor Harkon's Undead Norsemen stormed the Captain's Quarter, the men of The Magnificent fought to the last man, reaping a bloody tally on Luthor's undead. Luthor saw the talent in this man, and how he could urge on even the coward cuthroats of the crew to feats or heroism. That day, Luthor turned Jack into the Zombie he is now. Luthor used his mastery of the dark arts, along with Elven Scrolls found in the Norsemen's stache to keep Jacob's mind intact. Jacob took on the name Unholy Jack, hating himself for the monster he became because of Luthor. Instead of joining the Vampire that had turned him, he grabbed a cannonball and leapt overboard, sinking to the bottom.

Over the years, Unholy Jack slowly lost his mind. He went around, finding Mermen to drink their blood. Soon, the Ambitions of the Vampire overtook his old self. He started to think he was better then the people he had led so long ago, and fancied himself better then anyone or thing that lived.

Unholy Jack soon had a following of hundereds of undead Mermen, but this did not meet up to his standards of an army, he needed something bigger, better than these undead. It was then that he came across a Sea Trench. It descended hundereds of miles. At the bottom, there was a rift, created by a large chunk of Warpstone, where the Warp and reality met. Seeing the oppurtunity to prove he was the epitome of creation, he dived in, battling the myriad Daemons, and enslaving the Nightmare of the Deep.

This Gigantic Crab now serves as Unholy Jack's Personal steed. He rides around the depths of the Old Worlds seas, destroying fleets and attacking Island civilisations.

This is a Hero choice, basically a Zombie on a Crab. If this guy is in your army, you can have one unit of Mermen as a Core unit, but they do not count towards the minimum number of core units for an army. The special rules for Nightmare of the deep is that he counts as Barded, and uses the Wallcrawlers special rule from the O&G dex, meaning that he treats Difficult Terrain as Open Ground.

Sorry if its a bit long, I really wanted to put into a picture this guy's life. This unit will basically be a Zombie Captain atop a Giant Spider from GW. The one in the O& range.

Keldane's Note: Merged into correct thread. xD
