Here I am immediately before the Babymetal gig last night. Yes, it was awesome. And I met some really nice guys there, do non-metalheads typically offer to buy beer for people they've known about ten minutes?

This is on the way down from the summit. That juice carton was given to me by someone going the other way (it was a guide, plus the carton was still sealed so don't worry!)

Four reasons

1: The backing band is seriously skilled; have a look at

and note that the others are equally good.

2: The songs are, technically speaking, very good (apart from lacking dynamic contrast, but that's true of nearly all modern music) Have a look at the instrumental version of Ijime Dame Zettai here

Essentially, a solid power metal track. Or Catch Me If You Can,

Just sounds brutal.

3: Su is now a very good singer (when the studio aren't auto-tuning her to hell for reasons best known to themselves). Have a look at this video

Unfortunately, most of the recent ones have been deleted for copyright reasons; there used to be a brilliant one of them rehearsing Akatsuki floating around, but that's gone the way of the dodo.

4: It's fun as hell. Seriously, few things compare to two thousand metalheads screaming 'WHAT'S THE TIME NOW?' in Japanese.

Plus, have you read my posts? If anyone on this forum would unironically like something as utterly silly as Babymetal, it'd be me. :tongue:

Fair enough, I prefer bands that are not manufactured to that degree and that make music with real heart and emotion like Anathema who I saw tonight live for the first time. Amazing, never seen a band just leave it out there like that and give everything they have.. you should seriously go and see them on their upcoming UK tour in the next month or so. And since this about yourself in a picture, here is a picture from tonight, though I'm not in it as I was taking it.. :slapface:
