As long as I can field that new model, without taking a special character I am happy... (I used to play dwarfs, and I'm still mad I can't mount my stunty lord on a throne..) This seems unlikely though. A shame.

I'm so excited about this rumor. Better be true. Good chance the flying chariot is Arkhan the Black.

@najo How sick would that be? I haven't been this excited for WHFB rumors in ages. New Nurgle, Skaven, VC, and TK? It's like they asked me my four favorite factions and updated every one.

I hope Arkan is the chariot and Abhorash gets something else, can't believe GW are actually going to do it :). There's talk of round bases for WFB 9th ed though :(

@Adam_Barrow I'm right there with you. I play all those armies except skaven. But a cool emerging skaven release could push me into staying them lol! Feels like waiting for Christmas!!!

@El Syf there is very little chance of the round base rumor being true.

My guess is Nagash returns. Some armies are over hauled, combined and setting pushed into smaller conflict. They add in mordheim like stuff. Even go so far as to unite undead again under nagash?

Any rate, game becomes a more streamlined, new player friendly one where players start with warbands, build into old school sized armies and then end up at 8th size armies. So, they need square bases for that. Besides, making all of us swap out our bases, good way to piss of existing customers. So, unlikely.

Join the skittering masses, Najo. I love my Skaven army. Rats for the Rat God!

And I like what warseer is saying about a skirmish entry level set up building to big scale battles. Fantasy has suffered from impossible start up cost/accessibility for ages. New blood is needed for the game to stay afloat.

@Adam_Barrow I guess it doesn't help when "noobbloods" like me buys 3/5 of their stuff from mantic, haha.

I only recently bought the VC book, and so I only know the VC fluff from it. I guess more people are excited about characters than having a new unit.

I am really happy that we might get Nagash, but other than that I just want more stuff.

Maybe allow skeletons to be upgraded with halberds or bows; or maybe give ghouls some sort of save, even 6+ regen would be nice. Our core option is more limited than any other army and generally weaker than any other army. Basically, I want to have a reason to not take just the bare minimum in my core slot.

This is what I'm hoping for. I'm not sure if VC needs a lot of 'new' units, but making our core units more customizable (bows, GW, Halberds, etc) would be great.

So how does everybody feel about VC and TK folded into one book under the umbrella of Nagash's return? Not saying rumors support or refute this, but with the future of the game in flux it could be an eventuality.

@GDD Mantic rules. I've 40 of their Zombos.

If it gives us more options, I am all for it. Personally, I feel that our cavalry and characters are much better than TK, but they have archers and chariot units... I don't really see how they would combine. If they did, it would probably leave players on both sides with a lot of models that can no longer be used, which could make a lot of people angry and give up on the game; whereas others might just be happy that the game survives.

I've had a quick look through the TK book now. There are some very awesome things in there, but I hear they are quite uncompetitive? Not being able to march SUCKS, but some of the things here sure seem amazing on paper.

Like core chariots, and that casket ting.

As far as I know Nagash has sort of been their arch enemy in life hasn't he? And he nuked their whole nation with some zombie apocalypse spell? Why would they follow him? Because he can control them with his spell or something?

Personally I like the rivalry between TKs and VC. Nehekarah are actually to some extent the good guys here, and they are some what of a tragedy. Their condition is one of honor and defiance. The vampires are all scattered abberations of nature. They serve only themselves and their pursuit of the dark arts and power over the living.

Nagash is powerful enough that he could just dominate the undead. Cast necromancy powerful enough that he takes control of it all, forcing the vampires and liche priests to join himas his lieutenants or die.

What this allows GW to do is keep the good models from both lines. Create a new necromancy lore to replace the lores of the two armies. Bring all of these wayward special characters under one tent, hence them making nagash, the vampire characters and Arkhan the black. It would be a return to the old undead of 3rd/4th edition.

I personally want to keep them separate. If TKs get redone one more time I think they will get it right, because they were really awesome in 6th/7th and their 8th book got made to early in the design cycle. It also should have been done by Phil Kelley instead of Cruddace.

I not only would like to see the vampires and the tomb kings remain separate, I'd like to see them divided over the return of Nagash.

Historically, the dead don't like Nagash. There's a lot of old flavor about the vampires opposing him, as well as the tomb kings. Current lore may have the Von Carsteins working for him, and it's a reasonable bet that the Necrarchs would join him, but there's no reason to assume that the other vampires wouldn't oppose the Great Necromancer. And while the tomb kings would fight against Nagash, he's certain to have Arkhan on his side.

I am seeing this rumor in other forums such as Bell of Lost Souls and Warseer. Each forum has the same rumor verbatim, which has me worried that it's not true. It's kind of like, one guy starts a rumor with two people. Then those two people spread the rumor, each saying that he has a credible source. Then it looks like there are multiple reliable sources, when in fact, it's just one source that the public doesn't even know. I hope I am wrong because I would really like to see Nagash in action, as I started in 6th edition, so have yet to see him.

Overheard one of the store guys today telling the other one that he'd had news of a single large scale Fantasy release coming through the pipeline soon. I'm wondering maybe Bretonnians... Or a supplementary boxed set... kinda like StormClaw is to Dark Vengeance featuring Brets and Beastmen maybe?

I have also heard rumors of Nagash returning. If you don't order white dwarf how will you get the rules to play him if it is released in a white dwarf issue?

LOL I also play necrons and they say that I can't field my transcendent C'tan in my 40k escalation tournament... I wonder why?

Yes. Your local game store should have individual copies available. However, other players in my escalation tournament heard the same rumor so they said they would buy all of the copies so I couldn't field him....

My friends at my FLGS would do the EXACT same thing, kinda funny.

My only issue is if they bring back a wimpy Nagash......that would p*ss me off something rotten. His history and lore demand so much, but GW have a horrible habit of badly nerfing rules for some characters so I'll just have to hope. The original Nagash fully pimped out was around 800pts......I would be happy to pay that much again to ensure he isn't nerfed.

As for Abhorash.....I'll be amazed if they bring him into the fray. He has kinda turned into VC's Chuck Norris, and even outside of VC plenty of players agree that he is possibly the most skilled warrior in existence. I can't seem them properly portraying this for fear of upsetting other players (like HE over Tyrion etc......who Abhorash would whup all over xd)

The flying chariot is easily Arkhan, that's what he rode back in the 4th edition and it would be great to see him back.

Would I like to see VC and TK brought back under the Undead umbrella.....no not really. Both armies have developed and moved forward to such an extent that they belong separate. It would be like bring all the Elves under one book. That said.....if they did do it under the leadership of an all powerful Nagash, well that I could certainly learn to live with.

All I want for Christmas is a better BC ;_: By Arkhan do you mean Arkhan the Black? The TK special character?

I can't see him being brought back as a character tbh... regardless of the rumours... Would they release the rules and a model for Sigmar? No. For the Emperor in 40K? No. These figures work far better as bigger players in the fluff. Nagash is to me what the Crimson King was before he suffered character decay in The Dark Tower series, all evil, super mysterious power pulling the strings... he leads Kemmler to Krell and across the wastes, now he appears to be manipulating Mannfred to his will... MANNFRED, possibly THE baddest mofo in the world of men...
