I have an interesting question for you. When we use the new mortarches as generals, it says in their magic entry that you can choose freely between lores, does that overwrite our 'need' to take a LoV caster as general? Or is it enough for me to just pick one LoV spell and two lore of shadow fx?

The above will be cleared out when the book is in hand as there must be some rules as to how/when you can field these guys.

@Bullhax It seems like we no longer need a general with LoV as TK no longer needs a general with LoN.

EDIT: The TK comment seems confirmed, but we don't know yet for VC.

Necro knights - Ghouls riding on Wolves (Fenrisian).

Sepulchre Stalkers - Top have of Crypt Horrors on the snakey bottom halves of the necro knights.

@Count Raffael Ooh a spider conversion might work! Thank you! I am going for something gothic yes. Don't want to go too far from the VC look.
No problem, for the warsphinx, I thought maybe you should use the Arachnarok Spider or as Lord Marcus, a gargoyle

To the studio scheme, in more sub assemblies then WD said too, and with a degree of skill. and extra flying bases floating around.
Completely agree with you on the sub assemblies!

For those looking for a blend of Tomb Kings and vamp counts aesthetics (if perhaps one leaning more towards the kings than the counts), check out Glaven's army of Arkhan the Black from aught eleven:

You can see more pics & work in progress notes from his thread on Dakka Dakka, where he posts as Soul of Iron:

Sure sure, but it's still a handful of very useful videos, particularly for blending & ethereal techniques, which I plan to start trying out on some test models of my own some time this weekend.

To be perfectly honest, after watching all the videos it's seems to be very easy to paint the model :p There's nothing too hard that was shown and just makes me want to paint the model as soon as I get it!

Except the entire time you're painting, eldtrich voices assail your mind whispering "No pressure, just a $105 miniature that will be the entire focal point of your forces -- muhahaha."

Well mine was 130$ CAD (about 120 USD) :p Those voices will be music to my hear as I'm not nervous at all about it, just excited!

The new stuff is for Legions of Undead, which can use both TK and VC stuff but follows its own rules, separate from both. I think that they were trying to ensure that neither army could bear claim to Nagash for he lays claim to all.

It will be awhile before I get around to getting Nagash (still have a long way to go before my regular counts are finished), but I think one of the things that has me most pumped about this big End Times release is the inevitable Show Us Your Nagash thread (sounds a little dirty).

So at twenty five years old and with one day to go, is it wrong to be more excited about this than I have been about Christmas for the past twelve years?

The araknarock was perfect in every way EXCEPT that it is waaay too big for the sphinx 50x100 base ;_: The little spiders from the goblin riders look a bit too small.. As did the "bane riders" from warmachine. Both units go on a 50x50.

I am mad about the araknarock.. It could work so well with the right paint job.. Necro knights seem like the biggest challenge to do right.

Shockingly both units go on a 50x100 base.

I will continue looking! If anyone can think of any good models to use tell me!

They are gigantic! That makes me sad, as I'm now even less likely to use them.. They are already overcosted in comparison to their stats, and apparently they are 50x50 monsters??

it says they are unit size 2+ though? can they still be monsters? (But yeah GOOD point X_X I can't brain today.)

On closer inspection of those images, it does in fact say Monstrous Infantry :-(

I don't think they are bad for their cost based on what I can see. T5, 4 Wounds and a half decent save. Not to mention the raw speed. Ok it's only hover BUT, still M10 with swift stride, and that's a big deal since they may not out maneuver cavalry and monsterous cavalary, but they definitely out charge them, which in turn restricts the their (the enemy) movement.

The two hand weapon guys are 80 points with a 5+ save. They are special.

The halberd guys have a 4+ save, and are 90 points, rare.

It seems like their buffs stack with each other, so they could be quite good in some lists. I'ts just that I can't fit them into mine yet. I am a fan of how big and important they look, but game wise I am not a fan of their big footprint.
