Today I realized that you can have 3 terrorgheists in a 2400 point army, and tried to build something around that. Now I haven't played any real games in 8th Ed yet (just a lot back in 7th), and I recall the madness of the Flying Circus.

So I've tried to build a reasonably balanced list that mostly flies in to the backfield and screams out or charges down war machines, mages, and other threats to the screamers, while the front blocks move in and put pressure from the other side. Ideally, if one of the main blocks gets engaged, then the stuff in the back rear charges in support. While this list isn't built for head-on melee with big tough blocks, it would try to keep threats from both sides. Wolves would redirect big hammers, and zombies could tie up smaller flanking blocks that don't go after the flyers, protect the skeleton's flank (or maybe be totally useless)

Thoughts?

Do you mean varghulfs or terrorgheist for the rare? I assume the latter.

I would give the SGK a DBG for flaming attacks.

Spilt the hex wraiths up into two units. They cause more threat and are more flexible that way. You have a lot of redirectors too. I'd consider dropping some wolves for more core tarpits. Split the fell bats into two units of 2. Consider same splitting of varghiests. That way you are maximizing threat and hitting options. Also, screaming banner might be worth it if you're taking fear incarnate and aura of dark majesty. List looks good though for what you are trying to do.

Side note, aura does not stack. It's one or more within 6". Just making sure if you didn't know.

Thanks for the ideas, Najo. I get the idea of splitting up the units to threaten more of the board, but I was also hoping for those units to be able to do something once the center of the board gets stuck in. I can see more how the hexwraiths are useful split up, but isn't it easier to control one frenzied unit than two? Admittedly, as an older VC player I've never used a frenzied unit/model before! For the bats, I used to run a unit of 3, but after playing against a Korne demon army as my first and only game of 8th ed so far, I cant see 2 of them doing jack or lasting more than one combat against a demon cannon-chariot! Since when is Korne allowed to shoot? Seems very unKorne-like to me! If the other armies are all inflating like this (as I heard) then a unit of two may not do much.

As to the banner choice, I think you are right. I don't usually consider that skellies can do anything but try not to die (although with new fear rules and magic, w/ CC and spells it might be different in an infantry-heavy list) and would just use zombies if I was willing to paint about 200 of them! If I went with that banner, then I would probably change the skellie banner as well to the flaming attacks one, but I like the extra movement given the general shouldn't be there after turn 1.

Najo, yes I know they don't stack, but the banshees can backup the infantry in this way if necessary.

Dbg=Dragon bane gem
That would be a nice ward!

@Sun King:
Awesome! haha

Actually, as someone else pointed out in another thread, with the new 50% lords rule, there could be 4 TGs! Maybe armour up the general a bit, and give the other SGKing the scream sword with Aura and an extra wound! Would probably have to lose a banshee or some specials though.

Switching all the core to wolves seems somewhat tactically thematic, but I still feel like it needs some kind of tarpit infantry core. And without and necro support, they need to be big units.. Maybe drop the skellies for just hordes of zombies.

Mega dogs reminds me of the Sylvanian list. That list was AMAZING! Anyone remember that? Armoured zombies, skeleton crossbows, burial sites, and dogs everywhere! It was just a little too good with those tokens making an already overpowering magic phase unstoppable! I remember reading about one guy who just made basically his entire army of zombies and marched it across the field leaving nowhere to go!
