Thanks for the comments guys. I have to admit that progress has been slow as I have been doing other stuff. One reason for this might be that I have not fully decided how I want to proceed with it so I'm taking it easy while I figure it out.

If it doesn't say no saves of any kind or to just remove models then I think it allows ward saves.

Personally I don't like the idéa of purple ghouls as they to me should be more human in appearance. I would go with alternative 1 but not use a black wash. I would use a brown wash or glaze and then re-highlight back with very thin pain so you can control the tone. Thats just what I like though...

Umm I would say the opposite. It says you loose regeneration if wounded by a flaming attack so you are never allowed to make a regen roll at all.

Thanks. I think I started off with deneb stone for the zombies and then did several different washes. I did scribble the exact procedure down somewhere but I can't seem to find it atm.
