I can not play an army nor build an army list without creating its fluff and naming the characters and units. I know I have a problem.

A neat DIY movement tray is made from an old cereal box and bits of plastic sprue or balsa wood. Line up the unit on the cereal box (cheap thin cardboard) and mark them off, glue the balsa wood or bits of sprue to the the outside then cut to desired shape.

I would suggest you buy the BRB or borrow one and give it a read. The fluff has been around for 25+ years so will be hard to gather in one place. If you are interested in the fluff of armies I would suggest getting copies of your top listed codexs and giving them a read. For small "elite"...
