Yeah, was hoping to get in a game on the weekend, but ended up giving a mate a hand bailing out his caravan (king tides aren't fun!) I didn't take notes on the game yesterday afternoon but I'll be able to give you the gist...
Well, first off I lost (YAY!!!!) My list was similar to the previous 1500pt one:
Zenith Prince
Barded steed, shield, Dagger of Betrayal
wanted to do some nasty things with their combat heroes... my opponent took 2 mages...
Mortuary Priest
lvl2, Book of Control, Dispel Scroll
Mortuary Priest
lvl2, Book of Fear, Shadow shard
I took 2 mages to see how the list ran with heavy magic, and to try the combo of the 2 books (up my ws, drop their to hit...)
19 x Skellies with standard
19 x Skellies with Standard
My mainline, took up position either side of the main Pinnacle Guard block
10 x Favoured Ones
10 x Favoured Ones
10 x Favoured Ones
3 units to cover flanks/ support the mainline
16 x Pinnacle Guard with Additional Hand Weapons and Shields, champion, standard with Banner of the Ages.
Was going to give them spears, but with the Banner I thought they'd most likely be being chargers rather than chargees. I liked the thought of fielding them 6 wide with the Zenith Prince, 11 KB attacks sounded like fun!
5 x Pinnacle Knights with additional Hand weapons, scythed barding.
5 x Pinnacle Knights with additional Hand weapons, scythed barding.
A favourite unit in the list, has a nice weight of attacks feel to it (15 S4 on the charge) for its size.
Chaos, off the top of my head, had
2 x Nurgle mages, one with a ranged attack, the other with a bound spell, both had a sniping spell, one had a spell that gave regen, other spell wasn't used. One of them also had an item to add 1 PD to the pool.
2 big marauder units
3 small chosen units
2 marauder cav units
4 dog units
2 spawn
Essentially I saw the writing on the wall in turn 2 when he managed to finish off my Book of Fear toting Mortuary Priest, The Knights managed to pin down one unit of the fast cav before one was bogged down by spawn and the other was directed away by dogs, The skelly blocks took the marauder charge on the chin, and held out until the chosen of Khorne on the wings swung around after being led a merry chase by some Favoured Ones and hit me in the flank. The Pinnacle Guard charged into the centrally placed Khorne Chosen (with +1 Toughness!), pushed through and swung around in time to watch the last skellies crumble... Ended up in a combat against a block of marauders with the wings of the chaos army closing in...
