This time we played a 2000 points battle, we were with 4 players, the others played empire against HE. We set up each others tables, and our table was a difficult setup for me, as the terrain was quite close to each other.
My list was along the line of this:
A Lord, Forbidden Lore, Dark Arts, Cuirass
Hero, summon ghouls, dark acolyte, enchanted shield, book of arkhan
Hero, flayed hauberk, dark acolyte, lord of the dead
Hero, wight king with Battle Standard, Drakenhof banner
Core: 20 skellies, 10 ghouls, 15 ghouls, corpse cart, zombies
Special: GG, with banner of strigos
Rare: 3 cairn wraiths
His list was pretty different:
Arch-Lector,
2x Warrior Priest
1x Wizard
3 units of knights
2 units of outriders (repeater handguns and hochland)
10 handgunners
20 swordsmen + detachment handgunners
cannon
flagellants
The terrain made me put my units less closer together than I wanted, but the first turns were quite uneventful, but I noticed that he had some very nasty bound items, and his magic was going off nice.
I had only 6 dispel-dice, so I had to conserve for the more dangerous moments, I raised zombies to hold his troops up, on the left, the situation seemed stabile. On turn 3 his knights attacked the wraihts, we had lots of discussion if he could use the doomfire ring, but the wraiths stayed in place, although the terrible armoursave of those knighst made it almos impossible for my units to kill them.
During a charge were the GG just a little too far away, so they could not help when the two units of knights hammered the skeletons, my vampire issued a challenge, thats proved a stupide thing; he use the horst speculum that switches the stats... so my vampire 'bit the dust'
The other skellies were grounded to dusty end, and only the general, hero, ghouls and the brave GG with CC were on the field. In the last turn the Vampire mada a risky move and challenged the warriorpriest... and lost...
So I noticed that against very tough knights, some other units are needed; Black knighst or Blood knights... and a varghulf can help too...
