Great stuff as usual.
I strongly dislike that the beastmen can no longer take dragon ogres in the army as I would´ve like to do a similair conversion for some DO.
Cheers.

@ Lynks - Cheers, I actually did them like that so you could see more of the model from the front, they actually rank up fine, the painting is pretty simply, couple of highlights and a wash, I think with commission painting I have got a bit lazy.

@Cuzzy - cheers! you could always use them as centigor! if I had the cash I would have liked of bought a box of ogres and just used the old dragon ogre lower bodies (I have 5 of them laying about), I'm not a massive fan of how they split chaos either, really I think they should go back to one big book like in 5th, have a mortal section, beast section, daemon section as well as a monster section which is common to all of them with some sort of mixing rule (even if its just core choices as special).

Well been a while since I did any painting and really been on a forum, not really been able to paint for a while for one reason or another. Anyways thanks for my clients for their understanding, you have been great! so the painting has started, at some point I will have some WoC updates to post but for now here is the start of a Guard commission.

Still not finished but well on the way atleast, not sure if I like how the powersword and cream has turned out in places.

I think you're right that the sword does need a little something, but not much. I really like the blue blade, its different but really looks like a power weapon. Rest of the unit is looking stong. Good stuff

Cheers mate, yeah exactly what I was thinking, might just repaint the power weapon, will see, client seems happy enough with them so far atleast!

Those Kasrkin models are in my opinion one of the coolest sets that GW has ever done, and youve painted them up really well! while being done well the blue of the sword does look a little out of place with the rest of the unit though.

@ cuzzy - Cheers mate, well exactly, If I am honest I don't think these are my best paint jobs to date, just been lacking the motivation to paint the past few weeks but I have kept the guy waiting for to long.

@ lynks - Yeah I have to agree, I love the models, if I did a Inquisition type army with stormtroopers I think I would use these instead. As for the blue I always do my imperial power weapons blue, I just think its represents the the fact its surrounded buy a energy field.

Here we go, update on these guys, should have some more pictures to post tomorrow of the normal special weapon guys.

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_Karskin2.webp

Thanks mate, I haven't been painting as much due to person life issues rather than people posting in here, was very nice of you say none the less :)

Good to see that you are still alive and kicking around been wondering since I haven't seen you lately on cotec or here to be honest.

Now to not make this a completely useless post your painting is still very good and I have to say the Kasrkin look really good.

Defiantly like the looks of the colors you have on them and the power sword looks good as does the cream coloring on them.

Some very good looking squads. :) I'm torn between the chosen and the Kasrkin as my favorites of the lot. The Kasrking look gritty enough to take on Space Marines, but I like the colour scheme on the chosen very much. Very distinct and atypical of Tzeentch, but the glow effects make it very recognisable.

Cheers, Wolfie

@ whtdwrf11 - hah, yeah I know mate, not really worth going on that forum these days, its not really that active, cheers for the comment on the guard, I wish I had more time to paint the other bits I painted before I posted them but I have been lagging behind some what.

@ Wolf Fang - Cheers mate! glad you like them, apart for the cream I was very happy with how the guard turned out, glad you like the Tzeentch stuff, at some point I have to get a army shoot up, I actually finished the 2400pts list (bar some glow effects and some bases), I have actually been thinking I might just go and sell my Tzeentch army, not sure yet...

Anyways, hopefully I wish get the clanrats finished I have been working on finished tomorrow

Yeah I know what you mean about activity over there.

Heck I'm not even close to as active as I used to be on any of the forums I belong too that are games workshop related I just keep myself logged in for convenience sake and check them a couple times a day just to see if there's anything interesting to read but that's about it.

The prices constantly going up is kind of dampening me ever wanting to buy models once I make a 1,000 point list that I'm happy with since I decided to switch to making those instead of my 750 point ones.

Anyway why do you want to sell your Tzeentch army after putting so much work into it like any special reason or you just don't like it anymore or something.

Hm don't think I've seen any skaven stuff from you that I can think of off the top of my head so that should prove interesting to see though.

@ whtdwrf11 - Well I think its the same story with a lot of the dedicated forums, not as active as the ones that embrace more than just a single army.

Yeah I can certainly understand the price having a issue on you wanting to spend money, thats why I said to you before to use ebay or some discount seller, its really the only way to afford a army (2nd hand is how I am doing my grey knights!)

As for the Tzeentch to be honest I am just not enjoy playing WoC at the moment, its just so boring, I am going to take a break from warhammer and play some 40k now I think, I think the magic lores that have totally destroyed the game for me.

As for the skaven I ended up having to rush them to the post office but I am going to be doing a skaven BSB conversion soon for commission so I will post that up when I start (actually doing 4/5 BSB for one clients for different armies).

@ Sanai - Cheers mate, their is a melta gun or two with them, just at the back! no idea what the in the box,I just paint what they send me!

Anyways I have been painting currently I am working on some Sisters of battle 30 sisters and 20 storm troopers (well roughly). These are only to a basic table top standard.

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_SOB.webp

Next are some bits of my own.

Dragon ogres I took to a tournament, I really need to go back and tidy these up as I painted these in a rush

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_DragonOgres2_1.webp

Well finally I have decided it is time to start a grey knights army, I was originally going to do one when I found some cheap on ebay but I decided to concentrate on my Blood Ravens, bored of my Blood Ravens, wanting something that plays differently from the drop pod assault force here I am, currently I only have 5 of the old grey knights in power armour which I am in the process of trying to redo as I painted them some time ago.

Here is the List I plan on building

HQ

Grey Knight Grand Master
- Master Crafted Nemesis Force Halberd
- Rad Grenades
- Psybolt ammunition
Total 205pts

Venerable Dreadnought

- 2 Incinerator's
- 5 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Psybolt ammuntion
Total 227pts

- Brotherhood Banner
- 4 Nemesis Force Halberds
Total 340pts

Troops

(10) Grey Knight Strike Squad
- 2 psycannons
- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Psybolt ammunition

Total 290pts

(10) Grey Knight Strike Squad
- 2 psycannons
- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Psybolt ammunition
- Rhino
Total 290pts

Fast Attack

Stormraven
- Twin-linked multimelta
- Twin linked assault cannons
Total 205pts

Model wise I plan on using the metal grey knights (for now) as Purifier squad, I might in time replace them with plastic grey knights, for the Grandmaster I tend to convert him from lord Draigo (I am still deciding to give him a halberd or sword), anyways here is the first guy I have been working on (not finished

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_GreyKnight_1.webp

Well had some more bits arrive today!

Paladins

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_Grey_20Knights_Paladins.webp

Now I just need to get my hands on another psycannon arm, I was originally going to have these guys just with force halberds however I decided the Daemon hammer is to cool not to use :)

Strike Squad

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_Grey_20Knights_GreyKnightStrikeSquad.webp

I still have another 5 to put together.

Purifier Squad

ai289.photobucket.com_albums_ll219_Logoan054_Grey_20Knights_Purifiers.webp

I am thinking I might rebase these actually to fit with the rest of the army better.

I still don't have all the models I need for the army, I still need another strike squad, I plan on actually use all metal psycannons on my strikes squads (so only need one more box of grey knights), I also need another two purifiers, a stormraven, a forgeworld dreadnought and granmaster model.

Thankfully I will be able to get most of this in the next month or so!

For my granmaster I was originally think Draigo would be very cool however I have start to think that Marnus Calgar would make a excellent GM conversion. Thismeans the the arms from him will go on my blood ravens chapter master as a count as Calgar (as he has lightning claws currently).

Yeah I been scanning around ebay and the discount sellers I use deciding what I plan on doing and which army because I just have this good sized list of armies in mind but no way could I handle doing so many at once especially when the thought of painting makes me cringe.

Really good painting on those battle sisters there actually one of the armies I'm looking at and keep hearing that in August and Septembers issues of WD there getting a new codex to replace their 3rd edition one so I'm guessing it's a possible hold over until they get around to making a non WD one.

If those Dragon Ogres were done in a rush and still need tidying up can I have your painting skills so I could actually not feel nervous about painting when I get around to it.

Grey Knights had my interest with their old codex I'm not so sure about this new one they have now but I haven't really looked at it extensively but your models are certainly looking interesting so far and I agree with making the bases match up.

Edit: Forgot to respond to your mention of magic lores seeming to destroy the game for you I tend to agree that magic is suddenly really powerful yet again when I thought there intentions were to tone it back down again but apparently they don't know how to do that what so ever which makes me unsure if I really want to get into fantasy if magic is so strong still so I can understand going for 40k different mindset and different things you can do also less models to paint too depending on point size and the army your using which makes me look at it a fair amount.

Yeah well its really the only way to do it, that or look on the trade part of my forums like here, Dakka and warseer, I actually get alot of my stuff on warseer.

Hah cheers mate but to be honest its was very basic standard, the guy only really wanted basecoat and varnish but I added a bit extra for free (why not). The WD list does actually sound very interesting, might be a sign of WD being used for what it should be use for finally!

Lol well its all about knowing how to do it, harse highlights, dry brushing and washes!

Problem is when I win or lose games or warhammer it is simply down to getting a spell off at the right time, be it me getting gateway on a big ubber block or someone getting the right spell off on my main unit. Its just a dicefest now and honestly I do better when I'm drunk at warhammer lol (just show how much thinking is actually required).

I think main think that is attracting me to 40k is the new edition next year and people I like actually play it!

Anyways, not a massive update but I started on the Paladins

Now I just have to wait for my Drago to arrive and I can start on the grandmaster conversion!

It's a nice start so far that's for sure.

Yeah I find that I lean more towards only like four armies in fantasy because I'm not very keen anymore on the beastmen models or the Khorne daemon ones.

But 40k I have a list of like six or more power armoured armies I have an interest in alongside the imperial guard.

Yeah the sisters list I'm waiting to see what they do to them in WD hope they don't make them really bad or something like that because that would suck had an interest in them for the fourteen years I been interested in this hobby.

It's a funny thing I really have no one to play against so I don't know why I worry about costs or making lists or anything like that but oh well I guess it gives me something to do when I have free time which I seem to have in abundance.

Yeah the painting thing I think I was better off before being able to get on sites and see how amazingly painted some peoples armies are because that really knocks my confidence down that I could even achieve anything remotely close to that good.

Ok, I need to yell at you, as best I can via the internet.
First of all, your painting skills are solid, and you shouldn't get down on them. Your models are better than 90% of what I've seen on gaming tables.
But what's earned you my ire is that you're capping your skill level. There's a huge difference between saying, "I can't do that now," and "I won't ever be able to do that." You are deciding ahead of time that your abilities will never progress beyond a certain point. Painting models is a skill, which we hone and develop by practicing and sharing techniques. As long as you're willing to work at it, there's no reason why you can't keep pushing and developing it.

Well my Draigo Trade arrived today so I decided to stick together my basic idea for a Grandmaster, not so sure on the head choice yet, I don't think I will be using teh standard head as it looks out of proportion with the other GK terminator heads (but would work very well with calgar body lol!).

Thanks mate, glad you like the start, the silver is abit of a experiment, its a shame the rules make GK abit over powered but I love the models so whatever!

I think its hard to choose a first army, I think if you are on a budget then WoC is a good starter army, concentrate on your chaos warriors and you will quickly rack up the points! I have to say I do like the Khorne daemon models (maybe not so much the bloodthirster but I think a balrog conversion would do the trick ( I will give that another go one day!). Not a massive beast player, never have been, I only really expanded them with the HoC book but thankfully someone might be interested in trading mine for some more GK stuff :D

I'm guessing its a toss up between GK, Marines and SoB, SoB could be interesting depending on what they do with them, they are meant to get some new models as well so who knows! I would certainly wait till that WD is out before I decide. If again your on a buddget then GK are a very cheap way to go, you can the list I suggested for about £170 from online retailers which isn't to bad.

I know what you mean by the painting, I actually find alot of the stuff online can put you down abit, still until I see some painting of yours I won't be able to judge. The main thing is your first army isn't going to look perfect, no one's does. You paint, get it down and either repaint it later or get a new one. You can do some effective work just by using drybrushing and inks.

Heh well I'm sure if you found a localish club you would be able to get some games in, I don't play so much atm, had to much else going on, some people just like to paint. Main thing is to be happy with what you do.

I read the bolded part and felt slightly confused, mainly because I don't recall seeing whtdwrf11 post any pictures of stuff he painted!

That's because I've never posted anything I've painted because I never had a camera and I lost the one wood elf model I had finished when I was younger but yeah I really need to order some new paints and some brushes and buy a primer.

Already got the glue covered so maybe just maybe you might see some very basic painting on one of the models in my bits box if my camera doesn't ruin the picture since I dropped it so now there's like wavy lines in it.

Yeah Bretonnians and WoC is what I'm looking at the most for fantasy just for the fact Brettonians got the whole Arthurian thing going which I'm a huge fan of and then Chaos has Khorne plus those are the first two fantasy armies that ever caught my interest.

So most likely end up with them and eventually O&C and VC at some point in time possibly.

Yeah in 40k you would be correct about marines and SOB but the SOB have to wait I'm not sure what that WD codex will do to them. So that leaves me with a slightly smaller list but out of those I'm actually leaning a bit onto the Ravenwing and Deathwing for the simple fact there quite a bit of points for pure armies of them plus there pretty cool on top of it and the Ravenwing have their own battleforce and are very simple to paint if I follow the guide in the old Dark Angels codex.

At some point in time possibly the bunch of other armies on my interest list for 40k as well might get collected.

While I'm thinking of it I think I'm going to dive into my wooden bits box and see what I can scrounge up for a model to test my painting skills on.

Edit: And once again forgot to make a comment on something the grandmaster looks really good and I don't really see any problem with the head you have on him right now.

Well bit of a update here, first up is the Paladin, still not finished but certainly well on the way

I know :p I assume the guy thought this was your log or just trying to confuse me :-/

Brets would be nice however I would be tempted to wait until the new book is released as they will no doubt get some cheaper plastic kits for the elite units.

So most likely end up with them and eventually O&C and VC at some point in time possibly.

Very cool, I'm a fan of both armies!

I think I would be more tempted by death wing or even space wolves as they are much more interesting to paint them all black

Edit: And once again forgot to make a comment on something the grandmaster looks really good and I don't really see any problem with the head you have on him right now.

Thanks mate :)

The paladin is coming along really well I see and the grandmaser is starting to get some colors which is nice.

I particularity like the red you used on the shield and shoulderpad the book is quite nice as well along with the gold okay what am I rambling for it's all nice.

Yeah the elite Bretonnian units are very expensive to even purchase but I could still build one since the metal for them is going finecast at some point I assume and there core units are already plastic but we shall see.

The only problem I have going Deathwing is the fact I would gave to try and find a way to paint a whiteish color not sure my skills could handle that but who knows. I would certainly like space wolves at some point I just don't feel I could do them justice.

I was also leaning on the iron warriors as well since they wouldn't be all that hard to paint either except maybe the hazard stripes but no one can force me to paint those.

The guy might of thought that but it sure isn't my log and I'm doing my best to not derail and have you get discouraged and have it locked like at cotec I mean then where would I go to check out all your great models.
