  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
I've decided I'll be skipping the Nighthaunt box as well, tempting though it is. I've got tons of stuff yet to assemble, even more to paint, and honestly I'm in a bit of a fallow period, hobby wise, with my budget and attention aimed more towards games of the video variety.

later spring, mind. closer to summer. the third & fourth of 5 battletomes in that quarter.

also, between the sheer number of battletomes being released and the large amount of new 40k content, I think it's probably a good idea to dial back new model kit expectations a bit.

I just want archers. And ballistae.

My wishlist is a mile long for both OBR and FEC. I'm trying very hard to hold down the expectations. But OBR have so much yet unrealized potential, and FEC have so much unmet need. If we don't see significant release waves, it'll be hard not to feel disappointed.

Yeah I agree very much with this.

Nice that we were correct to assume that it was a wight king and his Grave Guards. Now we can hope they actually foreshadow a new GG kit to come.

The Canny Strike is a really good ability.

God I hate when they give so many needless different weapon profiles to the same unit.

My hot take on the unit is: it is too expensive, but it might find a strategic niche as a pinning piece. Blocking pile in while getting 2+ save is strong.

Not bad indeed.
But 220 pts seems on the costly side
Yeah quite expensive, but they allow with fine placement to lock down a death star, with maybe one or two model able to hit back. And the Hero bringing back some model every fight phase to lock them there the whole game.

On paper to me it look like a unit that will greatly reward skilled play

Yeah it's expansive, but does it really matters when the unit is this gorgeous and with playble rules ;) (Well to be fair I'm not a tournament player so it helps ^_^)

I agree, if you don’t go to tournaments then this unit is definitely something you should try playing around with.

I can also see this unit work its way into certain tournament builds. I will have to playtest it to really see the strength of the unit. But it offers something unique to Soulblight and that might warrant an inclusion in itself. However, I think the units low mobility really hampers it as a pinning piece as the opponent can probably just avoid it.

Edit: I just noticed that the unit, not the king, has 6" move. Interesting.

New limited edition Ghoul King model! https://www.warhammer-community.com...ing-day-miniature-has-a-next-level-party-hat/

Good catch with the rumour engine pictures!

Yeah, I get the feeling that this limited edition model is part of a marketing campaign to get the hype going for a big FEC release. But that is probably wishful thinking... if I was to be realistic with my expectations then the FEC is probably just getting a book and a new sculpt for some redundant hero...

For what is worth: a friend of mine, with a (usually reliable) insider contact, told me that FEC is going to receive a nice amount of new models.

i'm really dissappointed yo find that those rumour engine pics, which we had correctly predicted were a fancy ghoul king on a chair, are for a limited release (and thus short lived in the actual game) generic hero, and not a permanent new named character, something the faction desperately needs to represent them in the overall game narrative.

Cool model, though.
