I have had plans for various 'Themed' armies using figures suitable for WHFB. The inspiration comes from my years of playing Hordes of the Things (HOTT), which led to the Geico Gecko Army, The Dark Dwarves, The Zombie Docks from Heck, the Ghost Chicks of the Apocalypse and the (Mighty) Duck Army. I also wanted to have dual-role armies, so that I could use them for both a VC army and other armies.
The inspiration for the Bad Santa Army came from these goofy looking Warhammer/Battle Masters goblins (picture coming soon). They just looked so demented that I KNEW I had to do something with them. Since I firmly believe that 'Everything is better with Zombies,' I proceded to think abou t 'Zombifying' them. This will be a dual role Orcs and Goblin and Vampire Counts army, with the models being used as 'counts as.'
There are two to three different Army Lists that I will be working on:
2500 Point List
Orc Great Shaman on Sleigh ('Slay,' Wolf Chariot for now), with Sanat Figure
Goblin Great Shaman
Goblin Big Boss BSB with Spider Banner
Goblin Big Boss on wolf
20 Wolf Riders with Spear, Shield and Bow ('Shock troops,' LOL)
4x10 Wolf Riders with Bow and Shield - Run around the flanks and shoot
2x25 Goblins with HW and shield
2x20 Night Goblin Bow with 3 Fanatics Each (Cover for the Orcs)
35 Orcs with 2 Choppas
All to be painted in a Dark, but Red, Gold, Silver Christmas theme
A second list will be all cavalry with mounted leaders, lots and lots of wolf riders, doom divers, pump wagons, wolf chariots, boar boys, etc.
Santa and Shamans will be used as Vampires in the VC Version, Wolf Chariot may serve as a Corpse Cart or Black Coach, Goblins will work as skeletons or zombies, Orcs as Ghouls, Yhetees as Varghulfs, Penguins as Grave Guard ('Glacier Guard'), Goblin Bosses as Wight Kings or Necromancers, etc.
Additional units will be Christams Three launchers (Spear Chuckas), Snowball Flingers (Rock Lobbas), Block Hoppers as Squig Hoppers, Psychotic Presents as Squig herds, etc.
But enough about that. Here are some preliminary pictures:
The Goblins:
Wolves:
Night Goblin Bow:
Bad Santa:
Night Goblins to be used as Candy Cane Spears (100!):
Christmas Tree Launchers:
Will it win battles as Orcs and Goblins? Probably not, but will be fun to have on the table
I will have better close ups and WIP pictures soon.
I started about two weeks ago, FYI, and my plan is to have a well painted 2500 point army ready to go by June 17th
