I have had plans for various 'Themed' armies using figures suitable for WHFB. The inspiration comes from my years of playing Hordes of the Things (HOTT), which led to the Geico Gecko Army, The Dark Dwarves, The Zombie Docks from Heck, the Ghost Chicks of the Apocalypse and the (Mighty) Duck Army. I also wanted to have dual-role armies, so that I could use them for both a VC army and other armies.

The inspiration for the Bad Santa Army came from these goofy looking Warhammer/Battle Masters goblins (picture coming soon). They just looked so demented that I KNEW I had to do something with them. Since I firmly believe that 'Everything is better with Zombies,' I proceded to think abou t 'Zombifying' them. This will be a dual role Orcs and Goblin and Vampire Counts army, with the models being used as 'counts as.'

There are two to three different Army Lists that I will be working on:

2500 Point List

Orc Great Shaman on Sleigh ('Slay,' Wolf Chariot for now), with Sanat Figure
Goblin Great Shaman
Goblin Big Boss BSB with Spider Banner
Goblin Big Boss on wolf
20 Wolf Riders with Spear, Shield and Bow ('Shock troops,' LOL)
4x10 Wolf Riders with Bow and Shield - Run around the flanks and shoot
2x25 Goblins with HW and shield
2x20 Night Goblin Bow with 3 Fanatics Each (Cover for the Orcs)
35 Orcs with 2 Choppas

All to be painted in a Dark, but Red, Gold, Silver Christmas theme

A second list will be all cavalry with mounted leaders, lots and lots of wolf riders, doom divers, pump wagons, wolf chariots, boar boys, etc.

Santa and Shamans will be used as Vampires in the VC Version, Wolf Chariot may serve as a Corpse Cart or Black Coach, Goblins will work as skeletons or zombies, Orcs as Ghouls, Yhetees as Varghulfs, Penguins as Grave Guard ('Glacier Guard'), Goblin Bosses as Wight Kings or Necromancers, etc.

Additional units will be Christams Three launchers (Spear Chuckas), Snowball Flingers (Rock Lobbas), Block Hoppers as Squig Hoppers, Psychotic Presents as Squig herds, etc.

But enough about that. Here are some preliminary pictures:

Will it win battles as Orcs and Goblins? Probably not, but will be fun to have on the table

I will have better close ups and WIP pictures soon.

I started about two weeks ago, FYI, and my plan is to have a well painted 2500 point army ready to go by June 17th

Here are some WIP Pictures:

'Christmas Goblins' - BFSP Night Goblins, will eventually have a fluff on the top of their hoods:

Banner Bearers - I went for a 'metallic', semi-XMAS theme rather than the typical Night Goblin Yellow:

Looking wonderful, dig the horde. What sort of glaze/varnish are you using?

These have not yet been clear-coated, if that is the question. They will get a gloss coat and then Testor's Dullcote.

If you are asking about the skin, it is Gretchin Green, Highlighted with Bloodless Skin (Reaper Master Series), Badab Black wash (thinned a bit), then highlight of Rotting Flesh

leather: Ruddy leather base, Oiled leather highlights (both Reaper Master Series), then a slightly thinned wash of Devlan Mud.

The Black areas are Black, Stormcover Grey/Black mix (Reaper), then Badab wash.

Badab black wash on the metal bits

The red is Bloodstain Red Base (reaper), Carnage Red Highlight (Reaper), Blood red (?? brighter Reaper color), then with most extreme highlights with Blood Red (GW). No glaze or wash.

Bases are Shadow grey, drybrush Snow Shadow (Reaper), then Dry brush Icy Grey (Reaper)

Long time, no post - Clearly I am not going to make my June 17th deadline . . .

When I was a kid, and Christmas was approaching, I always listened for the big brown UPS truck, as it was always bringing something for Christmas for me or one of us in the family. So, i just had to have . . .

Thank you for all the positive comments -
Mr. Cheesesteak was very gracious in his unexpected loss this past weekend - He killed Santa on turn 2 (grudge thrower + my own miscast), yet I pushed forward and "ate" most of his artillery, his Ironbreakers, and his Quarreler Scouts. Gotta love those Possessed presents, er, Grave Guard.

I got the strong suggestion to convert a Mortis Engine into Santa's Sleigh. When money allows, I think I will do just that - How about a ghosts of Christmas Ethereal Army?

Keep watching this space - 40 some odd Archer Goblins will be done soon, as well as about 60 more spear (?!@# shading on the spears), plus Christmas Tree launchers, V-1 Glider of Doom, Disco Orcs, Present flinger, Vampire Penguins with great beaks
