Have you thought of using thoswe zombie ogres as crypt horrors? I imagine they die rather a lot more frequently than you would expect zombie ogres to at the moment...

I love the Zombie Ogres! They are suitably gross and dead looking, but they are not over the top.

The Necromancer is nice, I particularly like the weathering powder. The only thing I don't like is the fact that he is standing on those barrels... it looks like the one in the back would start to roll and he'd do an awful split!

@Werecat and Spineyrequiem: Thanks for the comments on the Ogres! And yes I have thought about them as Crypt Horrors, I have even considered an entire Ogre army, but all done as the undead. I am going to paint up 3 of the crypt horrors though and compare the results. Depending on which I prefer...

Great work on the ogres. The wounds are spot on and I really like the greenish tones you've used on the flesh. I'd love to see an unpainted version of that to see what you did with the liquid green stuff.

@Blackbard: I am a fan of your Zombie Ogres and think it's a great/relatively cheap way of making some unit fillers, I think the tones you have used throughout the army are spot-on and you should have a great looking undead horde I think any of us would be proud of! Well done to you sir

Speaking of starting a new Zombie Ogre, I have the model, I just don't know what to do to it. Anyone have some creative ideas on how to undeadify this Ogre into a ZOMBIE OGRE?

This week was a lot of house-cleaning. Got some of the models off the painting table including a unit of home made Black Knights I had started many moons ago. As per the suggestions from readers, I got rid of the mold lines down the front. I am considering using 3 of the new Black-knight models as the command. Let me know what you think.

Next on the painting table is a Skeletal Ogre. He is from the D&D line that I used to play. I will make his little buddy a little less alive too.

Next picture is of a new unit about to start...or is that restart? I really did not like the old dire wolves, and was very happy to see the new ones that were released. I will be painting them to look like real wolves. They fit more in line with my image of the army.

My personal vision for these “dire wolves” is of massive creatures that roam the hills and forests from whence my undead army general hails. Instead of undead wolves being raised to serve the master, I picture an unholy pact between these living creatures and the vampire lord. Perhaps it’s a mentally sent command, or the ability to speak the tongue of beasts, but these living creatures roam the outer edges of the army, seeking, hunting, and hungry, ever hungry.

That puppy is one of the cleanest looking "natural" models I've ever seen. And I second the face detail. The yellow makes a very good focus point.

Had a bit of trouble with the eyes on these latest two, as they were more squinting than the first. I have added a darker blend before I hit the black on these two guys (charred brown) and I think it works. I think they still pass as a pack due to similarity in coloration no??

Tabletop standard on those wolves? I just want to cry looking at them. If that is tabletop standard, I want to know what you consider showpiece standard. LOL Your work on the wolves is beautiful.

Anywho...
Got a test crypt-horror done. I also got a scenic ghoul base done up. My 4th wolf is at 80% completion, and I have to add rust to a whole bunch of things this week. Once I do that I should have another huge chunk of skeletons etc done. (I still need to rust the metals on the ghoul scenic)

@Marquisdesubir: Thank you! Spray primed with army builder flesh color, followed by flesh/devlan/green wash...wounds are flesh, baal red wash, then Tamiya X27 mixed with badab near the skin flaps.
@Santawraith: Thanks Santa! The terrain bits are from the old hero quest box. Dunno if they discontinued them or not. The box set came with 2 of them.

whilst it is al lovely i must admit i don't like the bright necromancer, just dosent fit the image of a necro, but thats my opinion.

The things which really caught my eye was the wolves, they look fantastic mate, good work.

this is an awesome blog very inspiring . zombie ogres are really well done as is the rust effects on your skellies, your dire wolves are very unique and original too. the archway from wh quest is nicely done too with that hanging head and the limestone colour , its all really nice work thankyou for sharing !

@Sachiel: Thanks for the comments! The necro was an experiment. I admit to wanting to make him as red as possible to match the army colours, but as you say, he came out looking very bright. I suppose he had to start somewhere, and if that was all that was available to him off the laundry rack that morning, he took what he had! :zombie:
Thanks on the wolves though...they are now done, except for the bases, and I will post them soon.
@Jim: Awesome! Thank you for the compliment! I love painting and modeling, so its always nice to see people appreciate your efforts! Its a big motivation!

NOW... I have put together a model for Brahm. He has such a winning smile that I decided to take time away from my wife and child for him Seriously though, I had an extra model from my terrorgheist kit, and wanted to paint one of these guys up. He just happened to let me know he wanted one at the right time!
LOL...please let me know what you think. I tried to model it after his army colours, otherwise I probably would not have included the colour green, or the dark stone base. On a side note, the claws turned out really good IMO, and I love the look of them in person. I wish I could capture them better via the camera.
