Borgnine's Log: Forge World BSB + BB Star Players conversions

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
That was an in-depth post! Condraculations on the wedding! And your new Tomb Kings conscript blows my mind. The wings really make him look like a different creature than his sandy cousin.

Your to-do list, well, stay strong soldier. There are a lot of things on that list I'm really interested in seeing from you. Especially in a stable shelf. Keep up the killer work!

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you like him ;) He isn't quite as I envisioned, but this works too xD

@Nagash Worshiper Good that my fluff pieces are being read :) Putrid Blightnights will be an expansion for my Nurgle character - from a fluff standpoint that is. Maybe I'll find a use them somehow in a game, but either way - it'll be an interesting thing to paint xD The next project is something very different - two 54mm minis I'll put on my wedding cake - as I wrote in the previous post ;)

@Adam_Barrow Thanks! As of now I don't have any more ideas about TK conscripts - and that's good, as this one took a crazy amount of work ;) And seeing how much is still lef to do, I'll hope I'll be able to paint the entries you are waiting for before I die ;)

@Shadespyre I'm glad I managed to convice you to him ;) And the list, well - I'm keeping an eye on both german eBay and the polish equivalent and there's always something tempting to be bought...

@The Gunslinger Well, we are collecting vampire counts here, causing nightmares should be the goal xD Big thanks :)

Also, I posted him on Cool Mini Or Not HERE - throw a vote if you have a few moments to spare :)

@Borgnine Absolutely stunning work, your conversions just don't fail to impress. That orange-ish fur on his back is a nice offset to your palette, and looks somewhat slightly more subtle than the reddish fur you used on your wight king a few months back.

Great work all round, brilliantly painted and pulled off! Looking forward to seeing what you conjure up next :)

Well, that is simply amazing! Such a great idea and execution. Just WOW!

Just went thru the rest and again WOW! The cart is so cool!

Another fantastic piece. Somehow you just keep churning out these amazing models! My favourite part is the skeleton and I like how you have him gripping the bars. At least he didn't leave any children behind to mourn him though. Thank goodness for small blessings. Nice fluff.

Also congratulations on your wedding.
I'm sure you'll have a great day. And after that, each day is better than the next :clown:

@Zhatan That's not the first time I hear this - maybe this yellow milliput just isn't very photogenic xD Thanks!

@Farmer7574 Thanks! :) That's also weird, because I painted his fur trying to copy the color I have on the Wight King - maybe it's the photo? Or I missed a tone or two xD

@Nagash Worshiper Well, I tend to be verbose in my posts, so I understand that some things can get omitted xD Thank you from us both :)

@Wolfrahm Big thanks! Glad you like them ;)

@robtion They aren't getting done THAT fast, so I don't know if I really churn them out, but thanks xD Interesting how you find the good part of that 'childless' part - I thought rather about the negative part of extinguishing his lineage with this sacrifice ;) Good to see another interpretations :)

As I said, I'm doing this wedding piece - but so far it's just watching greenstuff and milliput cure. Boring! In the meantime I started to glue my Coven Throne together - it seems like it will be fun to paint. I only need to find a good and interesting way to paint the spirit horde ;)

Like your colour scheme Borgnine! What's the recipe for your skeleton warriors' rusted metal? Is it a rusted colour (brown -> tin) followed by steel highlights, or something like steel covered in a rusted stippling/wash?

@robtion I am going shopping this saturday, to see if there are any cool minis and/or bits to incorporate ;)

@Eilief I think this is the most common question on this plog ;) And the answer is - both, actually! Funny, people are asking about rust when I try my hardest to promote my verdigris xD But well, that rust was quite good - if perhaps the only unit I'll ever have in this color scheme. Thankfully, I once described it in detail and posted here - you find it in THIS post.

Haha, funny you should mention that verdigris colour - I was down when I saw it, thinking it was so cool and I wish I hadn't painted my other skeletons yet. Thankfully I realised it wouldn't have fit the warm red scheme I wanted, though it fits your cool swamp green :)

Thanks for the link, I clicked to a few pages before I figured I'd not be able to find it in a plog as long as this

@robtion I already thought about it - but it does pose some problems:

1. My etherals use green and blue - which gives something very similar to this turquouise verdigris - I was worried that it just wouldn't look as interesting. My Nagash uses both of these colours, but he has also lots of other things going on.
2. It's a fluff thing - I use verdigris armor on my wights and other ancient servants of the Death God to make them distinct amongst younger undead. Vampire countess and her coven throne is something else entirely ;)

Still, thanks for the idea - I may try it after all on one of the Mortis Engines. Either way, it's still long to go - right now I'm having lots of fun assembling zombies :)

Painting minis for the cake is going good - so I do also undead stuff in the meantime. And do I try to finish all the unfinished entries in my index here? Of course not! I'm starting something new! Well, kinda ;) An extension for my zombies - I have 65 and I want to have 250. It's all well planned, now I only have to assemble them all. I'll try to post only finished conversion and painted ones - but this one is turning rather interesting at this point, so I decided to share. A zombie troll to be used as a 40x40mm filler. I had only a head and some hands - I have to build the rest of it ;)

I will be putting some muscles and skin on him, I only don't know where exactly, so I'm building him really from scratch xD

Credit to @Mad 'At for the idea of using skeleton horses ribcages like this

@Farmer7574 They are plenty cool, that's why I have a kit of them for my O&G - and I'm using spare parts here. This one will be a forest troll, but I thought that I could use them perhaps without converting later - there's plenty of water monsters in Slavic Mythology ;) Thanks for the comment!

@robtion "Appropriate" fillers are allowed ;) If a troll is not appropriate, then I'll have other zombies in my unit to satisfy the 5+ requirement. And please do so, fillers for that unit would be cool :)

Okay, converting is finished - zombie expansion unit is ready to be painted :) It was a hell of a ride - really fun to do. I don't know how much will be visible - I have a tripod for my camera now, but I think I chose the background wrong... But they are only WIPs, so it should be okay.

Photos of the whole unit - 20 little zombies worth:

And the single dudes in some closeups - all of them, without the Cursed Company dwarf, as he's not converted in any way ;)
