Hey "Stranger"...

Give me a moment to come up with my riddle... Moment up...

"What goes on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?"

EDIT : Stranger was my answer btw...

Kodamas, that'd be Man ... 4 legs as a baby, 2 legs during the 'better years' and 2legs + cane once you're old

P.s. stealing riddles from the Sphinx is a bad idea :P

The answer is Man. 4 legs for the baby crawling, two legs for the adult walking, and three legs for the old man with his walking stick.

A window

Now for mine...

There are 5 houses in 5 different colours. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage.
The question is: Who owns the fish?

Hints:

1. The Brit lives in a red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbour who drinks water.

TBH I've also seen it before, but last time couldn't do it (much harder when you don't have anything in which to take notes). This time I just sat comfortably in my chair, wrote all the hints on a piece of paper, drew 5 blocks for the houses and started to put everything together - for example on the 1st reading I could set 8, 9 and 14.

And so every time I read it I get to figure out another one or two and write them down on the piece of paper, starting with the color of the houses

P.S. Yea, I really didn't have ANYTHING better to do back then :P

One from me:

At the start of the day you go out with some friends. Half of your friends and half one more decide to go to the cinema. Then another half of your remaining friends plus half one more, went to the Mall and in the end of the day another half of your friends plus half one more decided to go home.

After all of this you ended up alone. How many friends did you go with at the start of the day?

Note: You CAN'T rip apart your friends - they're NOT zombies ;)

They are real, and you can't separate them at half a friend for example

P.S. it's a math riddle, so it would probably be easier that way:

You go out with X friends in the morning, 1/2*x + 1/2 go to the Cinema.
Let's say that 1/2*x +1/2 = y. Then 1/2*y +1/2 of the remaining friends go to the Mall
Let's say that 1/2*y + 1/2 = z. Then 1/2*z + 12 of the rest of your friends that stayed with you decide to go home, and you're left alone after that.

The question is how many friends did you go out with in the morning (or x=?)

P.S. 2 - it's kinda easy like that, but w/e :P

14.

At the start of the day you go out with some friends. Half of your friends and half one more decide to go to the cinema. Then another half of your remaining friends plus half one more, went to the Mall and in the end of the day another half of your friends plus half one more decided to go home.

So, 2 went home, 4 went to the mall, and 8 went to the Cinema.

Here's one:
A man is captured by a riddle loving vampire who orders him:
"Make a statement. If what you say is true, you will be boiled. If it is false, you will be sucked dry." What does the man say to save his life?

if it was 48, 48/2+0,5 = 24,5, which is incorrect

same goes for 14 - half of 14 is 7 and when you add 1/2 to it = 7,5

the answer is 7:

1/2 * 7 = 3,5 + 1/2 = 4
then 3 * 1/2 = 1,5 + 1/2 = 2
then the last one left - 1 * 1/2 = 0,5 + 1/2 = 1

so it's 4, 2, 1

Your riddle: You don't say anything? So it's neither true, nor false. But... no, that's not an option - the vampire has all eternity to wait for the man's answer, but a normal human would die after a few days because of dehydration.

Soo... the man has to say a paradox - for example "Everything I say is a lie" - if this is true, then the statement is a lie as well, which isn't possible. If it's false, then he always speaks the true, but he just lied - also impossible

Oh sorry Vic. I thought your riddle said half your friends plus one more. Not sure what plus one half more means.

Soo... the man has to say a paradox - for example "Everything I say is a lie" - if this is true, then the statement is a lie as well, which isn't possible. If it's false, then he always speaks the true, but he just lied - also impossible

That statement could be false. Everything he says could not be a lie; some of it could, some of it couldn't... you're on the right track though.[/quote]

How about I will be sucked dry?

It is both a lie and a truth.
If it is regarded as a lie then he will be sucked dry but then it is a truth so he should be boiled but if he is boiled then it is a lie and if it is a lie then he will be sucked dry making it a truth...
