The rumours of the pain chart are true. How it works is for each unit that one of your unit with this rule destroys they get 1 pain token. The bonuses for the tokens are as follows:

- 1 Pain Token: Feel No Pain
- 2 Pain Tokens: Furious Charge
- 3 or more Pain Tokens: Fearless

The cool thing is that all 3 bonuses stack. For example, you have 2 Pain Tokens your unit will have Feel No Pain and Furious Charge. Another cool thing is that if you have an independent character join a unit then their Pain Tokens add together.

Combat Drugs. You roll once for all the models with the Combat Drugs rule. The following effects are what you can get (in no specific order):

- +1 WS
- +1 attack
- +1 Pain Token
- Roll 3 dice for running and use the highest
- +1 strength
- Re-roll wounds

There is one special character that allows you to roll 2 dice for the chart and choose the effect you want.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rumours of the melta/lance are true.

- Range 18",S6, AP1, Assault1, Melta, Lance

So far I have only seen them used in Reaver squads and are close to 10 points and may be taken for every 3rd model.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Helions have a cool hit and run ability. You can literally drag an independent character with you when you hit and run. Roll an initiative test for the Hit and Run rule and then roll a D6. On a 2+ the character is dragged with you 3D6" and remains locked in combat with you. Units may be 20 models strong. Hellions are a Fast Attack choice but may become Troops with a special character

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reavers are a Fast Attack option. Sadly they don't follow the Eldar codex as Troops. The can turbo boost 36"!!! On top of that, they are classes as Eldar Jetbikes so they can move an extra 6" if they don't assault! Imagine this, on turn 5 you move 42" to contest an objective! If you turbo boost you can perform an attack on a single non vehicle unit you pass over. For each model in your unit passing over you can inflict D3, S4, AP- hits. The unit champion can take an upgrade that does D3, S4, AP- hits that cause pinning if any wound is inflicted. This does not replace the other D3 hits he is making. The only unfortunate part of Reavers (and hellions) is that you cannot take a generic HQ that can be mounted on a bike or skyboard.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are 2 new vehicles that are basically flyers. They can turbo boost 36". I am sure the next White Dwarf will make a flyer formation with them. On of the flyers can make a template attack as S4, AP3. If 1 or more wounds are inflicted to a unit with that attack then you can choose one Dark Eldar unit within 12" can give them a Pain Token.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Various rules:

- One special character allows you to seize the initiative on a roll of 4+
- A vehicle upgrade can let all Dark Eldar units within 6" re-roll leadership tests (really cheap point cost)
- 5+ invulnerable save can be bought cheaply for vehicles
- There is a "Marbo" for Dark Eldar. He pops up within 1" of a unit and does fun stuff (it specifically tells you to laugh maniacally when doing so). He is not an independent character for obvious reasons
- All "splinter" weapons are poisoned
- A special character that must go into a unit of Warriors gives their splinter guns poison on a 3+ and the unit can now deep strike regardless of whether they are on foot or in a transport. He also allows an extra dice roll for the Combat Drug chart and allows you to choose what one you want.
- Combat Drugs have no penalties

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will add more as I read more into it and memorize more things. Any requests as to things to research? It may remind me of rules.

Thanks for posting this compilement, good sir!

I just love the Hellions "smash n grab" ability. Splinter weapon's fluff finally reflects onto their weaponry.

Cheers, D.

All of this sounds fantastic! I knew this codex was going to be awesome. Mainly because they've been out of date for so long that it was pretty much a slam dunk to improve DE

We're already making a bunch of lists at my GW over here :)

Asdrubael Vect is godly.
Lets just mention, a power weapon that always wounds on 3's.
How about STEALING THE INITIATIVE ON A 4+!
Oh, and him being a millenia old, therefore he's pretty much fought everyone.
Preferred enemy ( ALL ), including Dark Eldar, he's their lord after all.
I believe I read correctly, hes 240 points. May purchase Dias of Destruction for something around 200. But, if a Dias is purchased, a squad MUST come with it at regular cost...so...yeah. Gets pricey, and for good reason!
That's all I'll mention

Lelith still remains the same, concept wise. Psycho.
I can't recall her exact WeaponSkill..either 9 or 10..
Anyways, for every WS she has over you, she gets that many attacks more in addition to her base attacks.
However, she does NOT have a power weapon.
She simply is so agile, and tricksy that she slices in between your armor plates and in your weak spots, therefore ignoring armor xD

That "Marbo" character I believe your talking about is The Decapitator.
I think that's his name..

They have several other REALLY cool characters, which I won't mention yet until I can go back and refresh my memory ;)

I can however recall a certain one who literally stiches back together...
Free pain tokens come with him.

Splinter guns are poisoned (4+).

Beastmasters have access to 3 different types of beasts. Including one which gets more attacks the more wounds lost.

Harlequins are available in the Dark Eldar army.

Sounds very similar to 2nd Ed if memory is not too caked in rust. Sounds like another reason to stay away from 40K for the moment, they really made a couple of the early 5th ed armies too good so they have to keep everyone else on the same footing.

Makes me sad really, all codexes should go through a watering down process at the same time to bring the level of power back to a point where it doesnt feel stupid.

the best bit about the new dark eldar though is the beasts, and grotesques.

you could do an army that is cheap lord, two cheap units of warriors
than 3 units of mixed grotesques that are just dirty, seeing how one variant (called grotesques) is toughness 5 3 wounds and has a pain token for feel no pain, chuck in a haemonculus to get two pain token and furious charge. then mix in some shooty one into the units and really high initiative one and bang you got a hard combat unit that doesnt die.

then you have 3/4 warp beast variants!!!! again one is toughness 5 with 5 attacks at I6, one is 5 rending attacks at I6 which is based on a group of warp bats with razor wings. then another is just like trusty dogs, all lead by a guy on hellion board but all count as beasts!!!!

i cant wait to do a beast themed slaver army, i just hope there is a special character that allows me to take grotesques or beasts as troops.

its bad really as iim a good eldar player, now im gonna break my oath of never touching the dark kin,

as soon as i finish my vampire counts of course!! i havent totally lost my brain
