Dear Johnny

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
5. Top of the Movement Phase. Point the front of the Wheel in the direction you wish to move by pivoting up to 360 degrees on a single point to face where ever you please. Roll the 3d6. That's the inches. If it hits a unit, a Charge happened (Impact Hits!). If it hits an object, bad news. Obstacle/Difficult = d3 S4 hits, then continues through. Impassable/Building = d6 S10 hits and stops.

Flee and pursue 3d6.

1) Yep.

2) Depends. Black Knights, or heavy cav in general?

3) If you want to get chaffed to hell and back, sure. If you want to actually win the game... probably not.

4) Pretty sure those wounds target the unit as a whole.

5) See Adam_Barrow's reply.

6) Moot point (new Slann does not have Cupped Hands), but if you play against the old book, Cupped Hands and Throne of Vines have terrible synergy because a miscast has to happen in order to get foisted onto your opponent, which is why I was never that big a fan of Life on the old Slann (Light ftw).

Thanks rothgar/adam, that answers most of them.

2) For the knights, it's kinda all heavy cavalry. I tried cold one riders and BK's and just find that I'd rather be running a spirit host or some more dogs to get in the way of skinks/salamanders. I totally see that they are a bus unit but I hate when my opponent just nukes them knowing that my other units are super slow unless I get a danse off.

2.5) Can ethereals charge through units?

6) Saw that one coming... :'( I miss our helm of commandment.

2) Look Out, Sir!/ranks for Red Fury Vampire spam in the front rank. They are a delivery system, and if even one of them lives, your Lord's next IoN brings 'em back a handful at a time.

2.5) Nope, sorry.

Johnny i have a question. For a touny list is it mandotory to have 2 gheists?? I also play Ogres and i run 2 ironblasters and i never have trouble vs gheists. Thats the only prob i have vs massed cannons. Now i am testing a list with blood knights and mortis engine.

Thanks in advance

Double Mortis Engine is definitely another successful archetype. It mostly boils down to whether you think the Terrorgheists can take the heat of being targeted all the time or not.

So I was watching some of Johhny's Youtube videos last night. He mentioned in his daemons book review he really like the flamers even though most people don't. Johnny, how are you using them effectively? What tips you have for making them work?

Dear Johnny,

I was recently playing Empire Total War. At the start of the battle, I opened fire with my artillery. After the first volley, a little notification came down the side telling me I had slain the enemy general. I immediately thought of the dreaded cannon-snipe that ended so many Warhammer games in turn one for us VC players, and laughed to myself.

Until the enemy artillery volley hit, and my general also hit the dust.

Is this a sign? Should I take to prayers to Nagash before bed? Should I hang garlic from my doorknob? Am I doomed?

So, is the idea that flamers are bad against large infantry units, but things with fewer targets and/or lacking saving throws become ideal targets for them?

wouldn't that mean flamers are good at waxing other small units too?

Johnny-Crass said:
I mainly see their strength in the warpflame rule so yes small units work also.

Are you comboing the flamers with anything else? How are you over coming them suffering -3 to hit (moving, long range, multishot)?

If it's a good deal, grab 'em up. Fell bats are really handy, not so much bat swarms. But you could always do like I did and put a Fell Bat on the base with the Bat Swarm so you can run them as either.

Hmmm, good idea actually. Ill see I'f they're still available. I'm eyeballing a few vargs and a varghulf too at the moment. Thanks!

Hey Johnny, I got a battle vs Skaven coming up, what are the do's and don'ts against Skaven? It's 2000 pts.
This is roughly what I have lying around:

2 vamps
1 vamp on a terror
1 Necro
Mounted wightking

60 skellies
60 zombies
40 ghouls
6 black knights
8 bats
2 spirithosts
4 carn wraiths
2 banshees
Terrorgheist
Mortis engine
Black coach
Corpsecart
20 graveguard

What units to leave at home and what will I absolutely need on the battlefield?
What to look out for and what to focus my attacks on?

Thanks for your help...

Dear Johnny,

Would you mind checking out my first VC army list and giving me some comments and criticism?
