Hello everyone. Perhaps this is already known to you, but today I bring you a big exploit from AoS that you should NOT use by any reason, lest the curse of the Undead ravages your soul (and not in the good way, might I add).

I mean it!

This is what's going to happen:

You will use:

Settra (your General)
5x Tomb Kings or 4+ Khalida
1 Liche Priest
1 unit of whatever number of Skeleton Archers, Horse Archers or Chariots.
1 Casket of Souls
1 Corpse Cart (Balefire)
1 Mortis Engine (Blasphemous Tome)

You don't need to include any other miniature or unit. Seriously, play against any army and you will have 70-100% success chance on your first turn.

Your turn goes:

Deploy everything within range so that every model can use and influence their intended target with their abilities, this should mean, deploy everything within 12'' of each other, and your archers as close as possible to the enemy. Go second, if you please.

Now, use Settra's Command Ability, to enable all of your Tomb Kings to use their "My Will be done" command ability on your Skeleton Archers. Now your Archers have +5 to their To Hit rolls, making any roll to be at least a 6 in the result (since modifiers affect the actual roll, not reduce the difficulty of the roll by x...)

Now, auto-cast Righteous Smiting on your Skeleton Archers (double 1's + 3 = 5)

Then, Move your skeletons within as many Enemy Units within range of their arrows as you possibly can.

In your Shooting Phase, any roll you make To Hit will trigger Righteous Smiting, enabling you to make an unlimited amount of arrow attacks. Yes, Unlimited.

if you follow the Making Attacks rules, you can make each roll 1 by 1, until you've killed everything within 20'' from at least 1 archer.

...

Now, you've broken the game and will maybe get punched in the face for doing so.

Of course, theire is a number of ways to "patch" this.

What would you think is the appropiate punishment for someone who'd do this in tournaments? (it will never go out in a tournament, but still!!)

Only your General can use his Command Ability. So you don't get to use Settra's, then Tomb King 1, then stack it with Tomb King 2, then stack it with Tomb King 3. It would just be Settra's, OR ONE of the Tomb Kings.

I believe Settra's Crown of Nehekhara allows it actually, if I remember right

Quite correct.

And I see what you're saying about the will be done adding 1 to the roll, rather than decreasing the hit value from 4+ to 3+ etc.

I can't really see any reasonable players using such tactics. This is like the "Start with 1 tomb swarm as your army, if you're opponent has 2 or more models select sudden death endure, then burrow underground for 6 turns -> win." Its not really a game, its just "I turn up so I can say I've won" You'd only get this from the kind of people who would probably cut off their right arm if they were told it was a game and they would auto-win if they did.

Using this in my next game, start off with some wins, at least when I lose every game after I can have some high point s to look back on.

I know it can be fun to dig through the rules to find the breaking point in a game; it's a challenge in and of itself, it's part of playtesting a game and I admire the ingenuity of the guys that do it well, so long as it stays out of my games! It saddens me that loopholes like this exist, but I suppose in any far-reaching system for wargaming or roleplay, it must be impossible to close them all down without impingeing on that diversity? I don't speak from experience, I am one of the wooliest guys I know when it comes to harnessing the rules of a wargame. Now Monopoly, I had that locked down!

You were WARNED! D:

Also, if you're concerned there needs to be at least 1 model on the table for you to not lose, you can use like 3-5 tomb Swarms and just keep burrowing/unborrowing until you win (except the one that needs to survive. That will always be kept burrowed).

Take note that this is only for "funny" thinking, and should be patched like everything tends to be used: Only 1 modifier of a kind applies. Copies of it do not stack.

Even still, you would be getting extra attacks on a 4+, which is overpowered, but not insane auto-win.

Also consider Grave Guard's Cursed Weapons + Vlad's Slaves of Death ability, triggering on 5+. Now THIS is a nice synergic bonus!

have you found any others??

Can tomb kings and vamps still ally?

Anyone can be part of the same army now, but you get certain bonuses for using a single army. E.g. TK and VC stuff generally refer to "Death" units, so they can support eachother really well as opposed to Highelves and their rules affecting friendly highborn units, attempting to ally with Orks whose abilities only affect Orruk units...

So from the looks of it GW intended for TK and VC to ally or be part of the same army by the fact that we share sooo many keywords that allow our armies to have a good amount of synergy.

he would still need to get a six on one of his dice because he can only change a single dice roll

edit: my bad i feel so dump ahah! yeah it's true he can win the game turn 1 by just choosing a higher roll. In my head he wasn't able to choose another roll than 7 to equal the 13 needed xD

Then there's the whole debate over whether the chosen result needs to be a result actually achievable on the dice roll. ie: When casting a spell on 2D6, can he choose 7,642 as the result? (Good luck unbinding that!)
