Hey!

It's been so long since I was last active, apart from a single post not long ago. Before that I had been inactive for months!

Continuing my Eldar, starting a new plog and I'm ready to go!

My old plog, it's still out there.

This time I'll try harder to cut down on my ramblings and let the pics speak for themselves. So time to get excited, I know I am!

Some might remember my strange looking Wraithlord. Here's what became of it :innocent:
oldbits.jpg

It changed!

WL1p1.jpg

WL #1. Base of the old WL still intact and looking fantastic.

WL1p2.jpg

"But I want a starcannon!" - Hakuna matata, it'll work out.

WL1p3.jpg

Looking familiar? Same base, same model.
Right knee have been cut and repositioned, filled in with green stuff.

WL #2
WL2p1.jpg

"Time to kick ass and chew bubblegum..."

WL2p2.jpg

Yes, magnets. A lot of magnets.
Left leg cut at the knee to create an impression of stomping.

WL2p3.jpg

:clown:

WL #3 and perhaps a Wraithseer proxy.
WL3p1.jpg

I put the old head to good use and ordered a pair of legs, hips and sword arm. Mix with spare WL bits and a Vyper and violá! A WL with a badass neck collar, haha!

WL3p3.jpg

WL3p4.jpg

WL3p2.jpg

The idea is to paint his left hand glowing with psychic energy, like I imagine a Wraithseer.

Wraithlords overview
WLall.jpg

There are 38 1mm x 2mm magnets for these three. All the guns fits in every slot, the only exception are the starcannons which does not fit top left weapon mounts of WL #1 and #2 and left arm of WL #3. Notice that even two fins are magnetized! I can barely believe I made them fit. Actually, the magnets don't but only shows on closer inspection
To complete them I will finish the base work of #2 and #3.

Proof that I'm still alive and have put some paint on my beloved rape(wraith)lords

WLpaint1-1.jpg

OH! Before I forget! I've found great WH music that works so well while painting, or playing Diablo!

Check it out here on Youtube! It's a magical soundtrack to a game most people should know

Yes! They are in the frame, at long last! I have put up taing these pics and making this post for way too long.

The long time old pals of the Eldar, lost cousins, the dark kin, Commorites, twisted and depraved. Namely BROTHERS IN ARMS

THE DARK ELDAR!

Man, I love these guys, they make me happy inside!

Alrighty then, feast your eyes.

Favourites first, Hellions.
IMG_20121111_213630.jpg

Still a WIP, of course!

IMG_20121111_213659.jpg

IMG_20121111_213738.jpg

Who would skate into battle like that? Really, this guy's pretty badass. A psycho of badassery

IMG_20121111_214012.jpg

I believe, but don't know for sure, that's the _only_ ordinary DE right arm holding a knife. Thought there'd be some with other kits, I almost gave up hope. Then I saw it, on one of the Raider sprues!

IMG_20121111_214149.jpg

All those torn pants! There were so many times I found a new area of damaged cloth, like on the ankles and the inside of a thigh or calf (not too easy to get to after gluing it all together, makes it more of a challenge though).

The pics makes them look totally blue of armour, but that's not entirely the case. They're more tuquoise which is really cool abd I might just change the highlighting after thinking this through. Giving it a less blue touch.

My fav part, seeing them painted, are the straps around their waists and thighs. They turned out great if I might say so myself :D

Please, do comment

Dark Eldar Wyches coming up. Exclusive pre-paint base preview xD

I have two groups of 10, each with a super cool champion each. Putting them together was much fun but hard work! Very thin and detailed bits to clean but the result is great. At least I think so

IMG_20121111_212005.jpg

Pure awesome!

IMG_20121111_212234.jpg

Somewhat more interesting pose than standing plainly on the ground. The left model is somehow my favourite, or one of them. Upper body from a Hellion. Who wouldn't like a necklace with ears?

IMG_20121111_212753.jpg

Middle: home made weapon, made of Hellion stunclaw topped with a Hellion blade (compare with my Helliarch in previous post).

IMG_20121111_212940.jpg

IMG_20121111_213147.jpg

An easy thing to swap bits between different sets. Some leg changing on the left and middle ones. The right guy seems to be doing an EPIC DODGE! We'll see if I can paint something to simulate that effect. Gonna be interesting to paint!

All 20 took a lot of planning and time. I'm very slow that way, but then there are no two heads on the same looking bodies and I think there's only like two doubles of heads, the rest 'unique'. None is like the other!

A, hopefully, wanted update.

I seem to be unable to keep a plog going so I'll go straight to the pics without much chatter. It's mostly rambling anyway.

Wyches, 5 of them
IMG_20130302_213726_zps86170e81.jpg

I turned up the brightness a bit so they look somewhat whiter than they are. Refer to the Hellions pics.

IMG_20130302_213949_zps51ca5a81.jpg

As most times when I see close up pics I find stuff I forgot or overlooked. The grenades are still unpainted!! Oh, and the tubes on the champs base!

Wyches are now my favourites :D

Very good. The colour composition is all-round awesome even though you use so many colours. I love the differences in their hair, and the purple metal is great. I am surprised by how well the pale yellow works with the rest.

Bases look cool too, but could possibly use a little more colour. Perhaps copper or rusted iron pieces?

Keep it up

Thanks a lot, all of you.

Mr Hat, your propositions are as clear as always. I revisited them.

Seriously, why would they all have the same coloured hair? Seems strange indeed, 'Eavy Metal team.
Do notice the lady with the white blades hair, bleachly coloured with yellow slings. Really nice :clown:

I believe the purple metal is good, but might be too much if I continue adding that to most every model. That one blade was actually only a test that ended well xD

Base redux.
Also notice the painted heads. The red one turned out very pretty :clown:

IMG_20130328_232826_zps12c247fe.jpg

How about it?

Here's a sneak peak of what's to come not too far off
IMG_20130328_233616_zpsbbc6995b.jpg

Oh, and happy easter!

I know everyone has been waiting for this moment.

A NEW update!

As promised of what was to come, here it is in it's unfinished glory.

IMG_20130523_142010_zps5692f45b.jpg

Still some work left. Any ideas of how to color the engines? I'm very unsure of that. Also the tip of the prow, I'm thinking a glowy bright red

Until next time, I wish you happy days!

That sail looks fantastic with its split colours and supplements the Raider's hull really well. Top notch !

Time for me to share some more awesomeness.

I really like Wyches, so why not continue that theme a little bit? I've never seen anyone making Bloodbrides (elite Wyches) and there's probably a reason for this. Perhaps points-wise a bad unit och generally worse than other options.
In any case I thought it be cool to have some models standing out even more among my DE.

Hekatrix Bloodbrides
IMG_20130523_142327_zps58b4918c.jpg

...and maybe a Kabalite or two somewhere.

IMG_20130523_142521_zpsa95b024f.jpg

The right three I guess could go as Kabalites, but hey, anything goes when looking this good

IMG_20130523_142627_zps5e737c2d.jpg

Left guy is a mix of Wych, Kabalite, Hellion, Dark Elf, and VC Zombie (the head).

IMG_20130523_143000_zpscf9378ae.jpg

I'm thinking of getting more of those Dark Elf legs, fits pretty good.

All these poses I come up with, fantastic really. Are there any other models you're able to make this dynamic?

Which one is your favourite? :clown:

Thanks Mr. West!

I've come to realise that subtle comments like that are truly great and appreciated after posting something you've done.

I'm on a roll! Here, have an update!

I really like Wyches, so why not continue that theme a little bit? I've never seen anyone using Bloodbrides (elite Wyches) so why shouldn't I? There's probably a reason for this. Perhaps points-wise a bad unit och generally worse than other options.
In any case I think the idea is cool, a unit of Wych 'sergeants' led by yet another 'super-sergeant' Top that off with an HQ Succubus and you've got a super-duper Wych unit!

Another main reason was that I felt like it and wanted to try some ideas and use some cool bits xD

I love how easy I find it to create these moving poses, the DE kits must be among the best ever made on infantry level. What other models are you able to pose in various ways like these?

Which one is your favourite? :clown:

Sure takes time between the updates. Been a lot of work lately but today I finished up another five Wyches and made the bases of my Talos and Cronos engines!

Wyches first off. Among them the lady with the dynamic pose!

IMG_20130624_230838_zpsbed97a95.jpg

What do you think of the Hekatrixs' blade? Goes from pretty dark metal to white.

IMG_20130624_231145_zps3e3a5aea.jpg

For small variation I thought I'd break the traditional metal blade trend. This meaning the middle and right most ones that could be trophies of enemies or weapons made of bone :D And I don't feel so great about painting ordinary metal.
Why would a Dark Eldar not fight with what they choose, you know? Or with the same thing as everyone else? I hope this helps to bring more character to the models.

The Cronos and Talos are below in a new post, easier that way

Cronos and Talos engines!

Let us start with a brief introduction. If I can I try to study the plastic frames before I order a model. Through that I found that Talos/Cronos model has extremely many spare parts when you just make one of them. To build one of each you essentially only need another torso, carapace and "hips".
I ordered an extra carapace, hips but found no available torso so grabbed a Tomb King Stalkers front torso.

Talos Pain Engine

Magnetized tail weapons, the rest is interchangeable as standard. This was the first time ever I used liquid green stuff

f1d24851-3100-4b6b-a1d2-1a88aa1b9915_zpsb92cbee2.jpg

My engines are magnetized to their bases but I need something cleared out by someone more knowledgeable than me about just that.
I've used 2 + 1 magnets in this case thinking that would make the bond stronger and thus keeping them better in place then 1 + 1. That was also what it felt like when I tried out different settings before gluing it all.
Is this true? The two magnets on the engines against the one on the base will keep it better than one on one?
I really don't know by fact, I'm all about gut feeling and intuition.

IMG_20130624_232043_zpsb658d4e1.jpg

Somewhat converted xD
The vortex is "supposed" to sit at the ass part of the model but I don't really get that, so I thought it would suck the life force from the enemies it is facing. Switched one tentacle hand to add to the rear and made a more interesting claw using deamon arms.

IMG_20130624_232453_zpsd2cdce72.jpg

The vortex is projected trough the antennas and stuff mounted about anywhere and thus you see the flow coming off/into them.

IMG_20130624_232716_zps2f956642.jpg

These two models have been in this state for the better part of a year I think and finally it is time to start painting them. They will be magnificent!

One more crew member of the raider and that one is all finished too!

Do respond! :clown:

Haha, nice to see paint on Mrs. Dynamic Pose :)

The blade looks alright, not really that eyecatching though. The other weapons are much cooler, love the gauntlets.

I've been a fan of the Cronos and Talos engines from the first moment I saw the kits, and yours are no exception. Not much to say about the Talos except that the base is cool, as usual. The Cronos conversion I love. Normally they can look a bit dull with only a bunch of tentacles, but that claw you added really livens it up. The much thinner torso you used is also cool, gives a more insect like appearance, further enhanced by the vortex arms.

About the magnets I can only say that I think you are right. More magnets gives more strength, not sure about it but it sounds right. I have lived by that belief too atleast.

Now paint!

Thanks a lot Abraham!

Here's a quick update on one of my little monsters, the Cronos, and their two bases. It's soon to be finished!

Not much left now, how's it so far? :clown:
