because Graveclaw is fully developed and characterised I'm going to try and stick him in the background as a support Character he doesn't really matter to the story.

Developed characters can still change. I think Graveclaw may be difficult to change, but if you arrange a subplot with DoN, you could have events occur that make profound impacts on Graveclaw's character and then develop/change it. The course of council events may also change him - for instance, how will he come to terms with having to face Vekarin, a vampire who he respected, as his enemy? Admittedly he will fight him without a doubt, but in his mind he may be doubting whether he should fight Vekarin, and this could cause him to become hesitant and unsure? You could have a moral dilemma there. Or who will Graveclaw place his trust in within the new Council? (Presumably he will trust somebody; it's plausible and not trusting anyone could mean that it would be hard for him to develop relationships with other characters. For example, how does Graveclaw relate to Kavok? Does he see any of his former self in the knight? How does he relate to Alastor, the strigoi who also seems to hate his condition? What about the Carsteins being in charge, how does Graveclaw adapt to that (because after the initial angry outburst, Graveclaw would have to adapt). Etc., etc.

...speaking of support characters, I've read up to chapter 41 in the TVC II and I still do not know what happened to Mouse or Katarina's necromancer Isabella. Do they appear later in the TVC, or have they simply vanished? If so, how could they be brought back into the TVC II? How would Graveclaw react to Mouse being a vampire - there was a bit of that in TVC I, how's he going to learn to cope with it (or not cope with it) on a day to day basis in TVC II?

So there's a lot you could do with Graveclaw, you just have to ask yourself the deep questions about him and the way you RP him. Then you can find the answers.

Also Graveclaw matters to the story! He's one of the only members of the old council and Vekarin respected him to an extent, unlike most of the vampires he'll probably just view as trash in the upcoming battles. He's also extremely powerful, one of the only strigoi (and the most powerful by a long way) in the TVC II and one of the only powerful vampiric opponents of the Carsteins. And his reactions to how vampires treat mortals play a key part of the RP!

Tl;dr

- Graveclaw matters
- You can develop him by asking deep questions and then finding the answers
- What happened to Mouse and the necromancer Isabella from the old TVC?

Mouse may return for the TVCII but Isabella is gone

Aha, but where is Isabella gone to? And what happened to Castle Moulan? You could always think of a way to reintroduce them into the story or discuss it with us/DoN in the OOC thread. You could even just give them a bit of backstory, even if you just made a supplemental, about that character and castle. Glad to see Mouse will be coming back though, she just disappeared after the fight with Kemmler and Krell, and she will help Graveclaw develop in the TVC II.

And character development is what makes stories interesting, so it's a good idea to keep characters on and growing. Even if they get to a point where you think they can't keep going, they should still stay if the character they've turned into is interesting enough.

I already have a sub plot with Graveclaw that's going to happen later and it is going to break him :devil2:

Castle Moulan was in the Border Princes so it probably belongs to the Carstins now, and Isabel was always just a minor character so she won't return who knows what happened to her she never mattered

if Mouse does return it would only be for a chapter or two and probably one that doesn't include Graveclaw because she wouldn't want Graveclaw too see her as a Vampire

I not taking Graveclaw out of the story I'm just keeping the focus off him while I focus on Sylvie

Fair enpigh about focusing on Sylvie...looking forward to this sideplot about Graveclaw! :vampire3:

About castle moulan it might not have been taken by the Carsteins; Zahanil (check out sanguine prince's character/esmeralda) has not been taken. Try and think of a way to include all you characters (or kill them off/mention they are dead in IC) even if they areinor; weak characters can still be important (Alastor and Kavok are not renowned for power amongst the vampires but they still have huge impacts on the RP) and any character, including Isabella, can be develpped. How did she react to Katarina's death? Did she take castle moulan for her pwn? Did she have to ally with esmeralda to deal with invading Carstein forces? How has she reacted to necromancy weakening? Will she join the council? You could think about these questions and/or others to develop Isabella. Don't leave a character behind!

About Mouse: don't be afraid to bring her in for longer. Maybe she could meet Graveclaw if he met the part of the council she qas in unexpectedly! This could be nice for character development of Graveclaw - how would he react to seeing vampire Mouse? How would it affect his personality? What affect would Graveclaw's reaction have on mouse? You could have some great interactions between the two vampires here, sdon't be afraid to make them happen!

I'm planning to write in a new character, pending approval from DoN. I have rediscovered my love of von Carsteins as opposed to Blood Dragons, and Radulf von Luxemmarck promises to be a far different character to Shah - or so I hope. Currently writing his fluff, The Resurrection of Wolfenburg, and the prelude is here, if you're interested.

Feedback to help me make the character more realistic would be appreciated, although that might not be possible until I have posted a bit more!

Taking a cue from Vashra, can I get any feedback from veteran TVCII players? Since DoN is so busy, anything I can edit to make the character flow better for the application process would be very much appreciated! :)

Maybe Kraskor will get less of a hard time from Shah when you're concentrating on a von Carstein. xD

Maybe Kraskor will get less of a hard time from Shah when he stops being irritating and a little ***** ;)

I do like Kraskor, but man he's irritating! (My phone changed irritating into idiot string ... Yes, he is idiot string :S)

I suppose you could, Ordo, because my character, Niklaus, has been edited quite a few times based upon member suggestions, so you should be able to get some advice as well.

That's good, it means his conviction has made an impact. His stubbornness, at least in relation to Vekarin, is something I wanted to portray.

Yeah, that was done (and will be done in the future, I hope!) really well Darvy!

You know people can post in the wastes chapter if they want, I'm sort of surprised by the lack of posting in it o_o

I am waiting for DoN for specifics of what the host of Veky should look like exactly.

Feedback for Ordo Cruentus:

First of all, awesome bio. It's detailed and obviously well thought-out, I'm impressed.

Secondly, the starts are, unsurprisingly, way too high. I say 'unsurprisingly' because everyone makes this mistake on their first bio. Remember, 5 is average for a vampire lord, and the statistic is not a rating out of ten but a logarithmic scale (i.e. the gap between ratings increases exponentially). Considering her age and description, I would say drop the raw stats of Weapon Skill and Technique Strength down to maybe 6. Not sure about raw strength, I'm not an expect but considering she is a relatively young vampire she probably wouldn't have reached vampire lord levels yet. Toughness I'm okay with because it's one of her selling points.

... I probably worry too much about this.

Well, thank you for the feedback!

*Snaps fingers

Logarithmic! I was trying to think of that word the other day when arguing with a buddy of mine! Thanks! xD

As for the stats, I was going by DoN's guidelines post.

"Basic Stats
A section that MUST be filled in. I have decided to go for a numbered system similar from 1-10, 1 being the very worst, 10 being the very best. Only in very rare instances can it go over 10, and a very good explanation would have to be provided why. Please note these are BASIC stats. If you have a magic item that increases them, that should be put in a bracket afterwards."

Did I miss that info somewhere?

Because from what I understood from DoN's examples, the stats broke down like this:

1-4: Mortal Level Stats (1 being John Q. Public, 4 being The Goddamn Batman)
5-10: Vampire Level Stats (5 being Vlad. Q Public, 10 being named Special Characters)

I suspect I missed a post somewhere, yes?

I think the ratings break down something like this:

1. Joe bloggs
2. Percy the village thug
3. Skilled veteran
4. Your bog standard vampire
5. Average vampire lord, i.e. the mode of vampires who have (un)lived for centuries.
6. Dedicated martial vampire.
7. Has spent centuries honing his skill.
8. Absolute master of battle, could defeat you with his pinkie
9. Once captured a fortress by accident
10. This planet only exists because he can't be bothered to get out of bed

All right, maybe there's some hyperbole in there, but you get the point. What you will notice, however, is that there are large gaps in between the fixed points. This is of course unavoidable when using a logarithmic scale with only ten values, but the point boils down to this: one '4' is not necessarily equal to another '4'. The main point of these figures is to give everyone else a rough idea of where your character fits in in the scheme of things.
Another thing worthy of note is how the various stats function differently: it is perfectly conceivable that a human with both natural affinity for and absolute dedication to battle could equal or even better an old vamp with other things on his mind - however, without magical aid a human will never get above a 3 in strength.

Hope this was helpful!

Harland's got it pretty well summed up, to be honest the only reason I'm aware of it was dicussed a lot of the first TVC.
